Thea service was good. The portion size was great and the food was seasoned well. They also offered some toasted and butter bread prior to ordering your meal. We ate that up quickly. The meat was seasoned well and the beans were just yum. The place was clean and had steady traffic.

My list of favorite Cuban restaurants in Houston has always included El Meson and Café Piquet. But now, I also consider Rincon Criollo to be a fave. Of course, I would defer to a Cuban person or Miami resident when it comes to opinions about the very best Cuban cuisine, and this isn't Versailles, obviously. Yet, I think Rincon Criollo does the basics well. I ordered a Cuban sandwich with rice, black beans and plantains. Everything was delicious, service was great and I loved the decor. Highly recommended.

Food here is average but service is super nice and on top of it. Food here is your average Cuban food and most of it seems out of the box. We order the Camarones Empanizado, Bistec Empanizado, and Chicken Milenesa and a Bistec Sandwich. Croquettas we're good and the Maduros were sweet and soft.

Walked in on a whim after craving some Cuban food and it was a great breakfast experience. I'm usually not a fans of the complimentary breads that other restaurants offer but this one was so buttery and moist. They go well by themselves or you can pair them with the entrees later on, as I found out that they don't really give enough rice to balance the savory dishes. Highly recommend the oxtail with Cuban rice and plantain. So juicy, soft, and flavorful. Cuban sandwich was also amazing. Perfect bite with every bite due to the thin crust and generous filling. We also got the ground beef in tomato sauce with a fried egg on top, and although delicious it didn't stand out much. Finally, we finished off with a flan and Cuban coffee. Coffee was strong and balanced the sweetness of the flan perfectly. Service was friendly and treats you like family. Really enjoyed our experience.

Very good food! Unbelievably inexpensive. We had a Cubano and a steak sandwich. Both tasted heavenly. Nice atmosphere too! We went there for lunch, so we didn't drink, but the drink menu was so enticing! You can bring your own booze here as well. read more

We came here on a Wednesday afternoon around 4pm. After reading yelp reviews, we had to try the oxtail and roasted pork (don't forget to add a fried egg because it's a little dry). For sides we had rice and beans, fried plantanos, fried yucca, and yucca with garlic sauce. Yucca w/ garlic was flavorful. Excellent and fast service. Only reason it's not five stars is because the larger pieces of oxtail weren't fall off the bone tender as the other smaller pieces. But I will be returning. read more

LOVED the wonderful food here! To be honest, I had no idea what to expect. Since we are kind of adventurous Julie suggested a starter of fried plaintains, oxtail for the hubs and grilled red snapper for me. The fried plaintains come out with a garlicky dipping sauce and were so much better than a normal mexican tortilla chip with salsa. The oxtail are in a flavorFUL red sauce(not tomato, I think) and are delicious and tender. The snapper was also well prepared and tasty. The side choices are white rice and black beans or these combined. Get them combined as they are truly more flavorful. Also a small portion of sauteed plaintains which are out of this world! (Next time just bring the whole bowl!) Loved that Julie added a flan to share because it was our 33rd anniversary dinner. My hub had to roll me out! read more

I really like this place! I knew it would be good bc it was recommended by my Cuban brother in law. I've had homemade Cuban cooking from his family before. Overall: the food & drinks were amazing! The customer service not so much.... Upon walking in, just grab a table and the waitress will be over to drop off menus & take your order. It took about 15 mins for her to come and drop off menus. There were only 4 other occupied tables in the restaurant so I don't understand why it took so long. Then she came back in 10 mins to take our orders. I ordered the cortadito for me. She looked at me crazy for wanting it right at that moment and not after dinner. It was a delicious shot of espresso & half steamed milk with an option for sugar or no sugar. ($2) Natural lemonade & natural strawberry lemonade was actually freaking delicious. No wonder it took so long to come out. Looks like they made it as you order. Appetizers: yuca rellena- didn't enjoy it, tasted like wet dog food filling Tostones de Piccadillo- fried yucca filled with a ground beef filling. Super delicious! Entrees: Ropa Vieja- it was amazing!!! Just as I remembered it. They don't skimp out on the meat. I had to take the rest home for leftovers! Order this with arroz moro(rice & black beans) & yuca con mojo (steamed/boiled yucca in garlic sauce) AMAZING! Cubano sandwich- got the okay from my dining partners that it was good. I didn't taste it. Desserts: flan- seriously, one of the best I've tried at a restaurant! The caramel is homeade you can tell and not that artificial syrup. Tres Leches cake- good but not mind blowing and don't understand all the sprinkles on it Churro- they said it wasn't great, average Cafe Con Leche- coffee with milk, delicious! Tasted like vietnamese coffee with condensed milk but no ice. Exactly! Overall: the food was amazing, I would return just for this reason. But the waitress had quite an attitude with us for who knows what. She didn't understand English very well and mixed up an order. She also didn't give us the bread & butter basket like I saw her give to other tables walking in after us. Dare I saw maybe because we weren't Cubans? :0 This place did have a lot of Cubans inside dining so that's a good sign! All this food ran us about $50. Not bad! read more

Order 4 Cuban sandwiches! I crossed Cuban sandwiches off the my list! It was amazing, and the you get the cheese string whenever you take a bite. My coworkers & I really enjoyed their sandwiches too! I love their fries, it's nicely fried, and have a good level of crunch. I'm really craving owns again. DONT FORGET THEIR BREAD EITHER!!! CUBAN BREAD ARE THE BOMB! read more

We've been looking for a great Cuban restaurant in West Houston for a while. This place is it. The staff was friendly. The food was great. The cafe con leche was my favorite. Highly recommend the picadillo and macitas de puerco. Definitely worth stopping by in this part of town. read more

Best Cuban sandwich I have found in Houston at great price. Someone else said it was dry and no pickle but that was not the case with me. Empanadas are not on the menu but ask for them. Delicious. read more

Went at lunch. Ordered a Cuban sandwich to go. Place was crowded. My sandwich was so big, I had the second half for lunch the next day. They do have a lunch buffet during the week. Can't tell you much about it as no one really spoke good English when I tried to ask questions. But I will be back! read more

I take my friends here every chance I get. This place is not expensive and the food is great. Service is good. I was suprised when I got the cuban sandwich and they even wrap it in fancy wrap. I didn't realize it would be perfect for on the road. Caution to all who consume here... You will be so satisfied you will be ready for a nap when done. read more

We used to come here when it was a little restaurant. The food was good and the portions were good. Today we came back after not being in Houston for a while and we found the restaurant completely changed. The atmosphere is nice and the restaurant for bigger but the food is 0/10. I order a sirloin steak with fried yuca and salad. The steak was cold extremely skinny and small with literally 3 strips of fried yuca, and the price?? $15!!! $15??? Really?? For that?? Absurd! The cheapest plate is an appetizer for $10. My dad order a rabo encendido which was 3 pieces of meat for $21. I wouldn't mind paying for good food but the prices and the quality in this place don't go hand by hand. Very disappointed in how they messed this place up. I honestly won't be back ever. read more

Recent Miami Cuban transplant -Ive checked out any Cuban anything I've found here and I can vouch for Rincon as the most legitimate Cuban cuisine in Houston thus far. The empanadas and lemonade are just like my abuela would make! My son enjoys his beans and pan cubano every time. The service is very attentive and feels like home. read more

This Cuban food is about as good as I've had outside of Miami. I ordered the Pierna Asada (I've known this as Lechon Asada), with arroz congris and maduros as my side. They serve the pork with mojo sauce as well. The flavor of everything was amazing! The rice was a little dry but still tasted good. read more

Overall, the food tasted good and the pineapple juice was refreshing. However, I'm taking off one star for the small roach I had to kill on the floor next to my table (gross!) and another star for food variety at the buffet. They only had soup, two kinds of meat and about 4 side dishes. Maybe it's better to order off the full menu. (Once they fix that roach problem...) read more

This place is amazing! It's my to go place everytime I want the flavor and feeling of homemade food! You won't regret it, the portions are very generous!!!! I love this place! I grew up eating simple food like this(beans, rice, chicken, etc.) and I love almost everything on the menu. I say almost since I haven't eaten everything on the menu. Also, I even dig the fried chicken they have for the buffet periodically and I'm not big on fried chicken. Plus, everything they serve here tastes homemade and that makes me feel good. Some extras are the happy group of seniors that seem to be having lunch every time I go eat here. They always seem to be having a great time(eating and drinking) and my group and I always joke about wanting to be a part of their group. Lastly, if you like coffee you need to try the Cuban coffee with sugar. It's amazing! Enjoy . read more

I moved to Houston from Miami three years ago and I just discovered this gem. Absolutely 100% authentic Cuban comfort food. Priced just right. The coffee isn't the best I've ever had, but the food is on par with the best Cuban restaurants in Miami. The Ropa Vieja and the Lechón Asado (Roasted Pork) are on point. I've been pointed to Cafe Piquet by many people and I was depressed that people considered that authentic Cuban food. This place is the real deal. read more

Pricing: $$ the food is not overpriced. I wish we had a chance to sample their wines (priced around $13-$15 per glass).

My friend and I shared the Cameron's al Ajillo and it was soo delicious, we ended up ordering a other one! The sides we got were the Tostones and Arroz Amarillo con Vegetales and they were soo yum too! We also asked if they had a spicy sauce and they did, my mouth is watering thinking about it! Oh and the Carajillo was sooo good, I think the Cuban espresso is what made it perfect!

It's good, but I wouldn't order this sandwich again. I prefer chicken. I tried some of my dad's fricasa de cerdo. Loved it! Reminded me of a stew, but I would not drink the whole bowl because it is on the saltier side. It was served extra hot, and the chicken was tender. For the sides, my dad got the fried ripe plantains (sweet and soft) and the fried yucca sticks (tastes like potatoes - crispy on the outside), which paired nicely with a garlic sauce. Service was great! They are very warm and kind to their customers. I highlyyyy recommend this place to anyone looking for good Cuban cuisine. It's never too busy or loud when we go. Plenty of parking!

Service was fast and dinner came out at a reasonable pace. The owner is so friendly and stopped by our table to make sure things were good. Better than good! I sat down and expected a nice meal with Spanish staples, and the sticky-caramelized gooey-sweet plantains and perfectly-flavored rice and beans delivered. But I'd never had mojo criollo before, and I wasn't prepared for the Pollo Versailles. The sauce may look smooth, but the garlicky vinegar made my eyes water even more than the girliest rom-com. And the sharp notes of garlic and acid add excitement to the chicken, which is very well-made. The raw onion on top are really refreshing too when eaten with the sauce. I also tried the Lechon Asado, which is the pork version of the same dish, but I liked it less. It's really good, but the stronger flavor of the pork masks the sauce a little more. I liked it but I'd pick the chicken every time. And now that I've had Versailles, I'll be picking their chicken a little more often. read more
