We came here on a Wednesday afternoon around 4pm. After reading yelp reviews, we had to try the oxtail and roasted pork (don't forget to add a fried egg because it's a little dry). For sides we had rice and beans, fried plantanos, fried yucca, and yucca with garlic sauce. Yucca w/ garlic was flavorful. Excellent and fast service. Only reason it's not five stars is because the larger pieces of oxtail weren't fall off the bone tender as the other smaller pieces. But I will be returning. read more

I really like this place! I knew it would be good bc it was recommended by my Cuban brother in law. I've had homemade Cuban cooking from his family before. Overall: the food & drinks were amazing! The customer service not so much.... Upon walking in, just grab a table and the waitress will be over to drop off menus & take your order. It took about 15 mins for her to come and drop off menus. There were only 4 other occupied tables in the restaurant so I don't understand why it took so long. Then she came back in 10 mins to take our orders. I ordered the cortadito for me. She looked at me crazy for wanting it right at that moment and not after dinner. It was a delicious shot of espresso & half steamed milk with an option for sugar or no sugar. ($2) Natural lemonade & natural strawberry lemonade was actually freaking delicious. No wonder it took so long to come out. Looks like they made it as you order. Appetizers: yuca rellena- didn't enjoy it, tasted like wet dog food filling Tostones de Piccadillo- fried yucca filled with a ground beef filling. Super delicious! Entrees: Ropa Vieja- it was amazing!!! Just as I remembered it. They don't skimp out on the meat. I had to take the rest home for leftovers! Order this with arroz moro(rice & black beans) & yuca con mojo (steamed/boiled yucca in garlic sauce) AMAZING! Cubano sandwich- got the okay from my dining partners that it was good. I didn't taste it. Desserts: flan- seriously, one of the best I've tried at a restaurant! The caramel is homeade you can tell and not that artificial syrup. Tres Leches cake- good but not mind blowing and don't understand all the sprinkles on it Churro- they said it wasn't great, average Cafe Con Leche- coffee with milk, delicious! Tasted like vietnamese coffee with condensed milk but no ice. Exactly! Overall: the food was amazing, I would return just for this reason. But the waitress had quite an attitude with us for who knows what. She didn't understand English very well and mixed up an order. She also didn't give us the bread & butter basket like I saw her give to other tables walking in after us. Dare I saw maybe because we weren't Cubans? :0 This place did have a lot of Cubans inside dining so that's a good sign! All this food ran us about $50. Not bad! read more

LOVED the wonderful food here! To be honest, I had no idea what to expect. Since we are kind of adventurous Julie suggested a starter of fried plaintains, oxtail for the hubs and grilled red snapper for me. The fried plaintains come out with a garlicky dipping sauce and were so much better than a normal mexican tortilla chip with salsa. The oxtail are in a flavorFUL red sauce(not tomato, I think) and are delicious and tender. The snapper was also well prepared and tasty. The side choices are white rice and black beans or these combined. Get them combined as they are truly more flavorful. Also a small portion of sauteed plaintains which are out of this world! This Cuban food is about as good as I've had outside of Miami. I ordered the Pierna Asada (I've known this as Lechon Asada), with arroz congris and maduros as my side. We used to come here when it was a little restaurant. The food was good and the portions were good. Today we came back after not being in Houston for a while and we found the restaurant completely changed. The atmosphere is nice and the restaurant for bigger but the food is 0/10. I order a sirloin steak with fried yuca and salad. The steak was cold extremely skinny and small with literally 3 strips of fried yuca, and the price?? $15!!! $15??? Really?? For that?? Absurd! The cheapest plate is an appetizer for $10. My dad order a rabo encendido which was 3 pieces of meat for $21. I wouldn't mind paying for good food but the prices and the quality in this place don't go hand by hand. Very disappointed in how they messed this place up. I honestly won't be back ever. read more

Recent Miami Cuban transplant -Ive checked out any Cuban anything I've found here and I can vouch for Rincon as the most legitimate Cuban cuisine in Houston thus far. I love this place! I grew up eating simple food like this(beans, rice, chicken, etc.) and I love almost everything on the menu. I say almost since I haven't eaten everything on the menu. Also, I even dig the fried chicken they have for the buffet periodically and I'm not big on fried chicken. Plus, everything they serve here tastes homemade and that makes me feel good. Some extras are the happy group of seniors that seem to be having lunch every time I go eat here. They always seem to be having a great time(eating and drinking) and my group and I always joke about wanting to be a part of their group. The coffee isn't the best I've ever had, but the food is on par with the best Cuban restaurants in Miami. The Ropa Vieja and the Lechón Asado (Roasted Pork) are on point.
