I love delicious Columbian food so I decided to try this local Mercado/Restaurant for lunch. The husband and wife team/owners were so welcoming. Before I ordered, they let me know that since everything was made fresh it would be about 10 to 15 minutes. Always worth waiting for fresh/homemade food. I had the Chicken Toston which is what Grisella, the chef, is posing with and it was fantastic. I brought my husband the Cuban and it was very good. We finished up with a light guava and cheese empanada for dessert. So yummy I'm looking forward to going back and trying their breakfast and other lunch and dinner entrées. They also sell other fresh empanadas and frozen ones you can take home as well. Worth stopping in if you're in the area.

Great little hidden gem. Amazing food. I suggest you try the daily special in here. Couldn't resist digging in before the pic but here it is

I 100% recommend this place. The owner and his wife treat you like friends and provide excellent service! Please try the arroz con pollo, it was so savory and delicious. The dish itself could make it a 5 star review. Very homey vibe and if you're looking for a treat try the "pan de bono" and a "cortadito" (a delicious bread pastry and a cup of coffee with milk)

Family owned Columbian restaurant. We had empanadas, Arepas & Cazuela Montanera. I had a blackberry drink. Like a smoothie but made with water. From my understanding Columbian empanadas are made with a corn shell. It was delicious. We split the main course family style. We loved everything.

Hidden Gem. Chef-ceafted, made to order food. Family owned & operated. Casualty dining,

I love finding small Latin restaurants and was glad I found this one when I was craving some home style food. I was very pleased that this restaurant has a mini version of a bandeja paisa because usually regular portion ones are enough to feed two people. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get avocado and only one plantain strip, but regardless it was a filling meal! It was good and authentic tasting. I got an empanada de queso and it was good as well! Perfectly made empanada, but I kept getting a refrigerator-like taste/smell from it ... maybe it's just me? The aji served with it was good, but I personally enjoy a spicy aji which this was not. Give them a try!

A Delicious Discovery: Authentic Mexican Gem in New Port Richey…read more This weekend, my husband Eriq and I headed up to our favorite Thai spot, only to find it closed. Hangry levels were rising fast, so we pivoted to a nearby Mexican grocery store and market that had been on my radar from glowing reviews. It delivered big time on authentic flavors, generous portions, and warm hospitality. Tucked at the back of the well-stocked Latin grocery store is a casual dining area where you order fresh-made Mexican classics. The menu offers plenty of traditional options and cool protein choices. One of the cooks kindly brought me a little sample cup of their pozole when I asked about it -- tender, falling-off-the-bone pork in a rich broth. Absolute perfection. (She also mentioned their menudo, but I politely passed on that one!) We decided on the tostadas, and wow -- for $13.99 you get three super-crispy house-made tortillas piled high with toppings. I went with two chicken and one steak (which was tender). The chicken was incredibly flavorful and melt-in-your-mouth tender from slow-cooking in spices. Fresh shredded lettuce, cilantro, crumbled cheese, a drizzle of crema, and slices of avocado on top made every bite fantastic. Eriq loved the al pastor version he tried and powered through all three. He also ordered a carnitas taco (which looked excellent, but he ran out of room!). The tortillas held up beautifully under all the toppings -- no crumbling disasters, which is rare and impressive. They brought out two house hot sauces (a smoky red and a vibrant green salsa) that were outstanding, plus ice-cold Mexican sodas made with real cane sugar. Service was friendly and attentive, with staff bringing food out promptly. The whole place felt genuinely authentic (we might have been the only non-Latino folks there, always a great sign), the grocery section was small but well stocked with staples, fresh meats and produce. If you're in the Holiday/NPR area and craving real-deal Mexican food at very reasonable prices, definitely stop in. We'll be back soon -- those tostadas are going to haunt my dreams in the best way possible.

Great food at a fair price. Friendly staff. I will return to try more of the menu. Local family runread more

The wait staff were very friendly, Mark my waiter, has worked here for over 20 year! Speaks volumes about how they run this place! Visiting here on a Sunday evening was a totally different experience! It felt less like dining out and more like sharing a family meal in a much-loved, historic home. Recommended by our friends, we made a reservation at Columbia Restaurant during our visit to Ybor…read moreCity on Friday. As the oldest restaurant in Florida and the largest Spanish restaurant in the world, we felt it was a must-visit to experience its rich history and unique atmosphere. We also reserved seats for the Flamenco dance show, which had a $10 cover charge per person. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and enormous, with so many different dining rooms. You could probably get lost trying to find your friends inside, just kidding! We were lucky enough to get a table near the stage, so we could enjoy the Flamenco performance while having dinner. For our meal, we started with the Caldo Gallego "Giant Soup" ($10), which was hearty, flavorful, and incredibly comforting. We also ordered Columbia's Original "1905" Salad ($18). Made with crisp iceberg lettuce, julienned baked ham, natural Swiss cheese, tomatoes, olives, grated Romano cheese, Lea & Perrins® Worcestershire sauce, and their famous garlic dressing, it was fresh, light, and absolutely delicious. Our main dish was the Mojito Chicken ($25). The chicken was very flavorful, especially with its delicious citrus-garlic sauce. Although the chicken itself was just a little on the dry side in my opinion, the flavorful sauce made up for it, and the dish was still very enjoyable. We also had the Paella "a la Valenciana" ($40), which was loaded with clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops, calamari, chicken, and pork, along with green peppers, Spanish onions, ripe tomatoes, garlic, and a splash of white wine. It was a generous portion packed with fresh seafood and rich Spanish flavors. The New York Strip Sirloin "The Bambino" ($53) was another excellent choice. The 14 oz. USDA Choice wet-aged boneless strip steak was tender, juicy, and cooked perfectly. To finish our meal, we ordered the Flan ($8). It was smooth, creamy, and absolutely delicious, a perfect ending to a wonderful dinner. The Flamenco dance show was fantastic! The dancers were energetic and passionate, making the entire dining experience even more lively and memorable. Combined with the excellent service, it made for a truly enjoyable evening. Overall, Columbia Restaurant is much more than just a place to eat, it's a historic landmark and an unforgettable dining experience. Between the beautiful Spanish architecture, rich history, delicious food, outstanding service, and exciting Flamenco performance, it's definitely worth visiting when you're in Ybor City.
