It's been a few years since I visited Rincon and I decided to update my review due to my positive experience. My fiance and I went for dinner on Friday night and were happy to see that the place was hopping but we didn't have to wait for a table. They let us pick our table and served us chips and salsa. The salsa was really good, super fresh but our first basket of chips (yes, first) was stale. We ate them anyway because we are pigs and then informed them that they were stale and asked for a fresh basket. They apologized and gave us another basket which was much more fresh. They now serve margaritas! Woo! Which we both got and they were good. Standard margs but essential to the burrito and taco-eating experience. I got the chicken burrito, knowing full well that I would never finish it. It was bigger than I remember but very good! Jam-packed with chicken, beans, rice, vegetables. I'm having it for lunch today and I'm excited just thinking about it. I will say though, that the majority of the burrito is rice. Not much chicken and the vegetables are bizarre for a burrito - peas, carrots, and green beans. Fiance got a cheese empanada and a fish taco and a steak taco. All 3 were excellent. I docked one star because they were short-staffed. It seemed like there was one waitress and as the night picked up, we never saw her. They need to hire more people. Best margarita and traditional authentic food! I would like to start off by saying I never right comments. You can thank me later! I have been coming here for a little while now every time I visit Norwalk Connecticut. Rincon has the best margaritas fresh limes ( can't taste the alcohol but what 3 minutes you will feel it) I have ever tasted in my life! This place is a state treasure. It is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Connecticut. Even though it is 50 miles from where I live, whenever I pass by, I stop for a meal. I first fell in love with their tacos on delicious corn tortillas. Then discovered their chicken tamales --to die for, moist , sweet, and wonderfully flavored, wrapped in cornhusks and tied with regular string. I spoke to the owner who acknowledged that the chef uses more time consuming French cooking techniques to achieve their flavors. Quite literally the biggest burrito I have ever set eyes on. Very unique and different a mixture of steak rice beans different vegetables cheese. When they brought it out to me I jumped out of my chair because I was both frightened and delighted at the same time. The tortilla was massive and flaky much to the delight of my taste buds. Never in my life have I been able to get three meals out of one meal before but these burritos rise to the occasion. Those who dine out frequently enjoy discovering a "sleeper", an unpretentious gem of a restaurant tucked away from the beaten path. Well, I have a winner for you, but it's "hidden" in plain sight in a small strip mall on the Post Road on the south edge of Norwalk next to a smoke and pawn shop. This wonderful gem is called Rincon Taqueria and features freshly made Mexican food served in enormous portions at a price point that almost feels like robbery. I personally made it my business to visit this restaurant, as I continued my quest to find the best tacos in CT. I ordered the chicken taco and not surprisingly it was one of the best tacos I ever had. Much to my delight, it was also a little spicy, which definitely scored high marks in that regard. The food is delicious but, boy is the staff unwelcoming. If you're lucky enough to get the owner, he will schmooze with you and make you feel like he wants to be there. But it feels like the rest of the staff snickers at the patrons and watches the clock tick by until closing time. And that table in the corner with the "Reserved" placard? Very weird and off-putting to see them handpick who "gets" to sit there since the placard is fake. Still, it will be a great meal. Just don't go expecting your server will be in any way trying to make your experience a comfortable one. read more

Went here for the HUGE burrito and based on all the high reviews, thought it would be great. The price of this thing vs. the quality is terrible. $14.80 with tax and very low quality, little amount of flavorless chicken. No guac or sour cream to help the flavor. Just filled with too much salt, rice, which was terribly greasy and a mouth burning too-hot spicy sauce. Filling was not mixed well- last bites were just rice and awful canned pimentos. The real good flavor of a well made fresh burrito was just not there. Hopefully this place does tacos better. My wife and I happen to be in Norwalk, CT when we found this place on yelp. The reviews were solid and the food did not disappoint!! With many options in Fairfield County for Spanish food, its hard to imagine that another one can thrive. Rincon has certainly found its place in this scene. Operating more like a deli, Rincon has a small menu of just the basics- tacos, quesadillas stews and empanadas etc. They also serve a ridiculous burrito that I cant imagine is made to be consumed in one sitting. We go here often for tacos, 5 tacos is 20 and easily enough to fill two people up at lunch. I've also attempted to put on of those burritos down ($12 I think?), which resulted in failure and a four hour nap. If there's is anything, Id say the atmosphere here is set up for quick lunch or quick bite to eat, which is what they were trying to accomplish. Although they did recently get their liquor license, I wouldn't plan on going here to hang out too long. While they manage it pretty well, they get very busy with limited staff at peak hours, so choose your times wisely! read more

Pretty decent food here-and the service has always been great for me as well. The tacos are delicious and messy, and two fill me up. They're a touch on the pricy side at $4 each but it's worth it. Wonderful foods and good selection of take out from the refrigerator, despite sit down menu seems to be quite limited. Soups, tacos are very tasty, chicken quesadilla is fresh and simple showing good quality of ingredients they used. But since they only have one oven in the kitchen, whenever they run large take out order, sit down orders will be delayed. We one time waited for 30+minutes for tacos and quesadilla (oven required) while watching other table ordered later than us were served before us. We were only told at the end they were working on a large order with only one oven in the kitchen. Wish they have told us when we first sat down so we wouldn't be so upset. read more

As a frequent bicoastal traveler I can fairly say that I have been spoiled by west coast tacos, and these are the first east coasters that can hold their own. I ordered the chicken taco and beef empanadas, both delicious. A complimentary plate of rice and beans preceded our entree, and it was by far the best riff and beans I've ever had. My taco was loaded with smoky shredded chicken, a tangy tomatillo sauce, topped with scallions, cilantro and crumbled cotjia cheese. The salsa that accompanied it only added to the mix of complex flavors. The empanada was equally wonderful, the pastry was light, flaky, and perfectly fried. The filing was a surprise, edging to the sweet side thanks to the addition of soft raisins, which might have been too much on its own but once paired with the same salsa that came with the taco became perfectly balanced. The proprietors were a charming couple that took time to chat with us and give us back ground on their history when we asked. There was a very tempting to go case that I would have raided had I not already been stuffed. From now on I will stop here any time I am in Norwalk and grab a taco! Coming from living in uptown manhattan I've been lucky enough to try some really good spots in Spanish harlem, as well as west coast Mexican in San Francisco/San diego, so I feel I have a good palate. Rincon blew me and my family away. And Norwalk is a town that has some fantastic authentic spots (tacos mexico, los partales). Rincon is top notch. Laid back, no frills spot. Interesting angle on some of the dishes like a cilantro pesto sauce that's common amongst a handful of dishes. From tacos and empanadas to the other entrees, this place is solid. It's also BYOB, in addition to a half bar (wine, beer margaritas), and very reasonable. I've been around Norwalk my whole life and never stopped in, that's gonna change! read more

I can't sing my praises enough for this place - it's basically the only reason I haven't moved away. Don't be turned off by the location. Once you're inside, you're treated like family. The dining room is extremely well-kept, and the decor is tasteful. I haven't had a bad experience yet and I probably go here one to two times per week. We visited this place on a Saturday afternoon and got a table right away. The place looks small but has a great Mexican ambiance. The rice and beans they serve in the beginning is amazing. My husband is a fan of their fish tacos. He says these are the best fish tacos he is tasted. I really liked their bean tacos and the cheese empanada. They tasted yum.
