I just got home from the Haunted Lagoon and couldn't wait to write my review. It was a lot better…read morethan I expected. A lot of friends didn't want to go because of the price and things they heard from other people but I'm glad I didn't let their negative comments keep me from experiencing the haunted lagoon for myself. Truthfully though, I would not have gone if they didn't have their offer on Hot Deals Hawaii. We waited an hour and a half but I think it was worth the wait. I liked that they had a video showing around the middle of the line. It was pretty humorous and kept our spirits up. I also loved that they had 2 haunted houses that we had to go through before reaching the lagoon ride. The first haunted house was pretty freaky, thanks to the 3D glasses they had us put in. The glasses blurred our vision a little, adding to the horror effect. The 2nd haunted house was right before the lagoon and wasn't as scary as the 1st but definitely got us in the mood to be scared. The lagoon itself was awesome. The special effects were great and the ghouls and ghosts were really good. All I can say is..be ready to get wet. Don't bother sitting in the middle just because you don't want to get wet because you will no matter what. You might as well sit in the front and on the sides so you can get the most out of the ride. I'm not a fan of the ride to and back from PCC but haha..that's kind of beyond their control :P I almost forgot to to add: I think part of the reason why it seemed scarier to me than some other haunted houses and what not..is because the ghosts and ghouls would actually touch you..in the maze and on the lagoon ride. I've always thought they weren't allowed to touch you and that's what keeps me from being super freaked out...didn't quite work that way this time -__- lol

I don't know about the other years, but this year, there was a dance performance by, I believe 24/7 dance, and then after that you go through a 3D maze. I got freaked out by the first character! It was a small boy and he was just...there! Then you walk over to get on a boat to ride through the lagoon. So many spooks, scares, and thrills. I thought it was well done! My driver of the boat sucked. We kept getting stuck or running into trees. But other than that it was fun. TIP: WEAR BLACK. You will get dirty since the water is dirty. And yes, you WILL get wet. We wanted to put together a somewhat unusual combination at the Polynesian Cultural Center,…read moreincluding the Circle Island Tour, the luau, and a private tour of the islands. We had to call to book because we couldn't add the Circle Island Tour transportation to an online reservation. The Circle Island Tour was super great, but definitely made for an early start to a very long day! If you don't have much time on Oʻahu or don't plan to rent a car, I think this is a great way to see more of the island and visit some beautiful places that you might otherwise miss. You get to sit back and let someone else handle the driving while still seeing quite a bit. We did have some confusion with our private islands tour. The PCC initially put us into a semi private tour by accident, so we had to go back and ask about the private tour we had actually booked. Our guide also started out a little less enthusiastic than some of the other private guides we saw, but she gradually warmed up and got more and more engaging as the afternoon went on. I really liked some of the perks of the private tour. You get first or second row reserved seats for the shows, and your guide takes you around the different areas so you don't have to figure out the schedule or plan everything yourself. You could easily spend multiple days exploring the different areas and activities at the PCC, but we only had an afternoon, so the private tour helped us make the most of the time we had. The luau had a lot of food options, although quite a few of them were too salty for my taste. The virgin Mai Tai served in a pineapple was fun, but I thought it tasted more artificial than some of the fresh pineapple smoothies we've had elsewhere in Hawaiʻi. The taro buns they give you when you first sit down were actually my favorite part of the meal. The luau show itself was nice, but not mind blowing. It was entertaining and gave us a good taste of the Polynesian cultural performances, but it wasn't my favorite luau we've experienced. The entire Luau is much more casual and relaxed than others. One thing to keep in mind is that tickets are not inexpensive. If you want to do several of the experiences, especially the tours, private guide, and luau, you can easily end up spending hundreds of dollars per person. There are a lot of options, but the costs can add up very quickly.

We usually go to Hawaii about once a year as I've been to the various islands totaling over 50…read moretimes now. Part of the reason is that I'm a retiree from American airline so I get to standby whenever space allows. So over the years, I would balk at the idea as the price for family can quickly add up. This time, it was the 4 of us, and decided to just splurge and buy the self tour, gateway buffet and Ha show afterwards. As this is 3rd time for me, but it was first for my 2 sons. Overall, I actually enjoyed the visit and the gateway buffet was actually better than expected. I was trying to get the higher tier luau with the dance show, but honestly, there were plenty of hula show throughout the day and at the Ha show after. Overall, we really enjoyed talking to the students working there part time while getting their education at BYU. And I think it was knowing the fee and cost was towards education that I felt much better this time in learning the background in connection with the school.

Let's be honest, this is no Kapolei Commons so don't expect it BUT I appreciate that we have this…read morelittle theatre so we have the option of staying close to home(I live on the NS). Yes, they could do a little updating but I'm not coming here expecting to recline in luxury sipping on champagne *get real* Their prices are comparable to theaters in town but sometimes I don't want to pay $20 gas and would rather use that on dinner instead. This movie theatre is GREAT and offers great options for all in the family. If you're wanting to watch an adult R movie this is not the place for you LOL. GRATEFUL for business owners who make a difference in our community. This little mom & pop theatre offers so much to our community and I'm grateful for that. Thank you for keeping this theatre going for all of us on the North Shore who don't always want to drive into town.

There used to be a commercial before some of the movies in Dole at least - had big action screens going on in the screen and then the picture got smaller and smaller til the size of a phone - with a tag line of go big or go home. Here is why you watch some movies like a Star Wars/ Star Trek or Pearl Harbor- ON the Big SCREEN. Action! I get it a Michael Moore film or English Patient or a documentary on dung beetles or library studies can be done on any screen. I don't think the place is clean at all. Part of the reason I go to the movies is the 'illusion' of things being better than my own house. The front lobby- I think is horrible. People are maybe friendlier than other places but that is to be expected. Less people served= less problems in general. I suggest going to a bigger theater.

A spot museum on the BYU campus, this museum is small but mighty! Located at the corner of a…read morebuilding in the main area of the campus with convenient parking, it is filled with taxidermy of animals from North America You can find bears, wolves, and deers! My favorite part is the row of heads antlers where you can admire the differences among all the species that share similar functions or features across different biomes. What made the experience amazing was the two student staff who just started two months ago. I was talking to them, and it seems like the entire museum is run by maintained by the two young students. To bring attention to the museum and its studies, they conceived of an escape room experience to attract more visitors. What a creative idea!

We loved learning about the specific challenges of growing food on the North Shore. Our guide, Iovani, was so knowledgeable and funny. Everything we tasted on the tour was heavenly, and we could not wait to get back to the farm stand to buy their lilikoi products. But most of us were too full of tasty samples to get the acai bowls! My husband is a super picky eater/foodie and says the vegetable flat bread/pizza (eggplant, tomato, macadamia nut pesto) was one of the best he's ever eaten. Everything we had was delicious. My only complaint? most of the fruit was sold out by the time we returned from the tour. But that's not really a criticism of the farm--more a compliment. Keep doing what you're doing, Kahuku Farms!

From the moment we arrived, the experience felt genuine, welcoming, and wholesome. It didn't feel like a tour at all. It felt like we were spending the day with family. Judah made our visit extra special. We loved picking fresh fruit, sampling the delicious fruits, juices, cacao, and cacao nibs, and every recommendation he made was absolutely spot on. The lilikoi butter, eggplant pizza, garden salad, and smoothies were all incredible, especially the Coach Smoothie. Everything was so fresh and delicious that we came back again on our last day before leaving Hawaii. Thank you, Judah and the entire Kahuku Farm team, for making my husband's birthday so memorable.
