At the urging of a friend, I decided to give this place a try after more than a decade of avoiding it. Honestly? Meh. The place was empty on a Saturday evening--that should've been my first clue. Once seated, we were promptly served chips and salsa-which was pretty good. The chips were warm & the salsa was slightly spicy like I like it, it went downhill from there. My chicken fajita quesadilla was drenched in queso....so much queso! Ugh. The black beans were nothing special and the meal just wasn't good. Totally a waste of money. To make matters worse, the second batch of chips tasted stale and oily. Service was pretty mediocre. Sad to say, despite its rather close vicinity, I won't be returning. read more

I'm really surprised to see that reviews aren't higher for this place because my experience was wonderful! I was skeptical to order but glad I gave them a shot. Now, I did get mine to go so perhaps that's why, but the food is delicious and the prices are great..especially for the portion sizes. I ordered the street tacos and cheese dip. The tacos were much larger than typical street tacos which I liked! I was able to get two meals out of them. The price for 3 includes rice and beans, too. The red sauce they're served with was really tasty and not so spicy that it was unbearable, which I enjoy but may not be spicy enough for other braver diners. The cheese dip was creamy and delicious, hard to go wrong there! My order was quickly processed and received. I can't speak much to the ambiance as like I said I didn't eat in, but it seemed nice! I'm going to be Door Dash poor if Covid and these freezing temps last much longer! This little Mexican restaurant is the only one within a 5 mile radius of my house. It's not the first time I've ordered from them and it won't be my last. The cheese dip was marvelous over chips that were still warm upon arrival to my house. I ordered the beef chimichangas and the only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is that they are a bit smaller than any other I've ordered elsewhere. And honestly it should be the portion size we eat anyway :) They were smothered in cheese sauce and very tasty. I love rice...especially Mexican rice. It did not disappoint. They gave me 2 bags of warm tortilla chips. One for salsa and one for cheese dip. They were 2 very generous servings. I couldn't even finish 1 bag much less 2. Ok, so the only thing I'm disappointed about is not going to this restaurant sooner. I was pleasantly surprised by just the overall experience. This is on the outskirts of the city and close to a rural area. They have a nice and easy to navigate website. I could have ordered through your typical delivery/pick up apps, but I chose to call my order in. They picked up right away and took my order. Thee lady said it was 10-15 minute wait. My order was ready within that time. They share a nice size parking lot. When you walk in, it is larger than I expected. It has a nice ambience. Dim lighting with mellow music and clean dining area. They have a small waiting area in the front. I am excited about dining in my next visit. The counter to pay is to the left as you walk in. The woman at the counter greeted me with a smile and had my food ready for me before I could pull out my card to pay. Now let's get into the meal...I ordered the shrimp fajitas. This is enough for two or leftovers if you want to make two meals out of this. The shrimp are a nice size and tasted fresh. The sides were not over cooked. I'm not a big fan of refried beans, but these were not bad. When I ordered they asked if I wanted flour or corn tortillas. I requested flour. Corn tortillas came on the side with a fresh made salsa. The flour tortillas were cooked well. The fajitas had a lot of flavor. There was a nice balance between shrimp and peppers/onions. They don't skimp on the shrimp. I would ask for extra tortillas if you plan on sharing or making it two meals, because you only get 3-4. They have a extensive menu. Nothing out of the ordinary, but there are so many choices. First visit to this restaurant and def won't be my last! The food was delicious. Although this place was pretty packed for lunch, we were met by our server as soon as we sat down. Just a few minutes later, our order was taken. The food was delivered in a short amount of time steaming hot. My son had the steak tacos and I had chicken fajitas. The fajitas had a variety of peppers and came with rice/beans. Our server came by several times to see if anything was needed. This place is added to my favorite spots in Greensboro. We had street tacos, enchiladas, and a spicy margarita. The tacos were authentically made, which can be hard to find at most Mexican restaurants. Everything tasted soooo good! And the service was awesome. I didn't want my water refilled and I had 4 different people come by once they noticed my glass was empty. They were all so kind and helpful. The atmosphere was very laid back and casual. As soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted and seated right away. Throughout the entire visit every single employee was friendly and helpful. If you can't find something you like in the menu it's your own fault- the selection is huge. Our food arrived and it was delicious! This restaurant is in my normal rotation, especially for Taco Tuesday! On Tuesdays, tacos are a $1 with the purchase of a drink! Even though the restaurant is usually full, we are typically seated as soon as we get there and if there's a wait it is minimal. This is because the service is super fast!! Restaurant is clean and staff is friendly. Since I'm usually here on Tuesdays, I usually get tacos but I've also gotten the cheese enchiladas, tried some of their burritos and ACP! I am very disappointed! I ordered one thing and something different was on the receipt, I got something different in which I cannot eat. The manager said I could bring it back and pay the difference which was only a couple dollars. This was their mistake but wanted me to drive back there and pay more for their mistake and said they don't make mistakes like that ! Lunch here today was my first visit to this place, and all in all I was pleased with the experience. This is a large, rambling, dimly lit place that has housed a number of restaurants over the years, several of them Mexican. The ownership here has a family connection with the owners of the Rio Grande chain in Guilford County, and the menu is almost identical to what you'll find at those restaurants. I settled on the Enchilada Special ($6.99) with rice and re-fried beans, and a side order of a Chile Relleno ($4) with seasoned beef, and topped with queso. The entire order was solid, with the Chile Relleno being exceptional - a large, full poblano filled with well seasoned ground beef, and then topped with a very nice amount of queso. Salsa is generally salsa, but I particularly like the version here - it is chunky, with a lot of fresh cilantro, though the heat level is somewhat muted. Enchiladas, rice, and beans were nice, if not exceptional, and the service was efficient, though not especially engaging. Nice Tex-Mex fix here, with a few twists with some of the house specialities, and they do offer the Rio Dip, which I really like. read more

Always had good food and excellent service when visiting Rio Bravo. My 2 favorites here are the Shorty Chicken which is grilled chicken breast with chorizo and cheese dip and the Pollo Chipotle which is grilled chicken topped with grilled peppers, onions, tomatoes and cheese with a chipotle cream sauce. They have a good variety of Tex-Mex Mexican food options and even have a section on the menu called "Gringo Grill" which offers a few different burgers and chicken sandwiches for folks that want something besides Mexican food. I give a big pat on the back to Rio Bravo for being as involved in the community as they are. They have special nights throughout the year to help raise money for different organizations within the local schools and they also sponsor a little league baseball team each year. read more

Feeling good vibes when I first walked into Rio Bravo with its cleanly stylized Western interior, friendly and attentive of the staff, and the festive Hispanic music! I ordered the Blackened Mahi Mahi tacos that came with rice and beans. Not really impressed, as the pieces of fish were too large and very dry in the middle. The mangos in the mango salsa on the taco were quite unripe, but I guess it's not mango season.... on the plus side, the sauce on top was good! When we went to the Country Kitchen, we noticed that the Rio Bravo was just across the street and we also had a coupon in the Entertainment book for $7.00 off a dinner. So a few days later we traveled back over to try it out. And another winner! We were able to be seated immediately and they had hot chips and salsa there as soon as we sat down. I also order the Queso for the chips and both were very good. Both of us ordered the Burritos and those along with the Rice and Beans were very good. Mary commented on how good the Beans were especially. And I had to try the Flan for dessert and it was very good as well. This will also be put on our list of restaurants with a friendly atmosphere, great food and reasonable prices. read more

Well we started off waiting over 10 minutes to be seated and they were not busy. We waited over an hour to get our food (street tacos, salad, and chicken soft tacos.). Our drinks were never refilled until we asked. When the food arrived the steak on my salad was ice cold. This was by far a horrible experience Not to mention the staples sticking Out of the paneling and the 6 tables that were not cleaned off nor the bar area that dishes were never cleaned off. I frequent this restaurant for several reasons. Excellent service, excellent portions, excellent food and it's a great gathering place after a long week. The staff is so friendly and they are always stopping by your table with drink refills or anything else you need. I always leave with leftovers due to the large portions given and everything is alway prepared as ordered with no extended wait time. I cannot compliment this restaurant enough! First of all, I'm pretty sure that a small Mexican restaurant in Mcleansville, NC. doesn't pay attention these reviews, but I'm going to write it anyway. :) The story starts with my son buying some of those high school coupons from the softball team. The coupons promised one free entree of equal or lesser value to another entree at full price with two drink purchased at Rio Bravo. So, I went to this restaurant to try it out and to use the coupon. Long story short. The girl working at the cash register embarrassed me and ruined my restaurant experience. She refused to accept the coupon. She had some excuse,like "we're donating 50% of our sales to high school softball, but when the coupons were bought no one explained any of that to me. So, I was like "What the heck?" She refused to give me the discount. She was not helpful at all, and she was rude. Luckily in the end a manager came over and gave me the discount. I asked to talk to the manager. After the manager came over, he gave me the value of the coupon on one of the entrees we ordered just like I had asked the cashier. She was a huge pain the neck and she embarrassed me. I don't understand why she had to be so rude. What was her problem? So about the food....it was fresh and good. I had the carne asada which was really tasty and huge portions. The refried beans were not that great, and they had too much cheese, but still pretty good. Another entree we had was the chorizo and rice. It was good and not too salty. It was a huge portion and we took a lot of it home. We also had the loco nachos. They were the best of everything we ordered. But I think two people should share this. The service of my waiter was excellent. The busgirl refilled our chips and salsa as need.e She was friendly. The kitchen prepared our food fast. Overall it was very good experience. The bad review is because of the terrible cashier!!! I would not suggest my friends to back to this restaurant because of the really bad cashier experience. Consistency is the biggest thing I can ask for in food service. Rio Bravo nails my needs. Typically when I stop in its just for a beer and a quick bite afterwork on afternoons the wifey is working later than me. Great draft specials Great chips; salsa has good flavor, but indeed is a more of a watery variety. My go to for food is the hollywoodvine Burrito sans cheese/crema etc. Huge portions of food which is fantastic given my appetite and desire to gorge. Foods isn't anything particularly wonderful, but it is good and again to state consistent. Seems to be mostly fresh ingredients which is nice.
