Casa Vallarta is my current go-to Mexican restaurant in Greensboro. I have frequented others in the area and find that Casa Vallarta has consistently delivered on top quality in regards to food and service. I like that that regularly have a variety of aguas frescas (non alcoholic drinks made with water and fresh ingredients like fruit). Today they had agua de Jamaica (hibiscus), horchata (rice and cinammon), melon, and pineapple. I've had tamarindo/tamarind here before and it's delicious. The food is fantastic, good quality and decent portions. The lunch portions are very generous. I'm a big fan of the San Luis Fundido for lunch or dinner (steak, chicken and shrimp over rice with bell pepper and onion with cheese dip with your choice of flour or corn tortillas). I like to request adding zucchini and cilantro and it's never a problem. Ask for their green salsa to enhance any plate. They also have a variety of wings on the menu They have a bar with a variety of different drinks. The bar area is small with a few bar seats The patio is also nice with umbrella covered tables and the area is enclosed so you don't have to stare at battleground traffic. read more

They were not good, the flour tortilla was overcooked hard, the beef filling had no taste and was sitting in pool of grease. I could not consume. A true Mexican restaurant! The atmosphere takes you to Mexico, the music is lively and appropriate, and the food is delicious and tasty! The service was super fast, attentive, and they even speak English and Spanish (you can take a chance and practice your Spanish with some of the waiters)! They were always concerned about whether we needed anything else (drinks, napkins, plates, cutlery). It really was something different. The food ended with a flourish: when you sit down, you are surprised with a generous portion of nachos to enjoy with a delicious sauce. We ordered the Mexican nachos and ceviche tacos, both of which were very generous and easily satisfied our hunger. We came back to Casa Vallarta for a quick lunch on a Friday afternoon. It was quite busy, but we were seated quickly. I ordered lunch No.1 which was supposed to have a chili relleno and a taco. It came with a beef taco, beans, guacamole salad, and some beef cheesy thing that was not a chili relleno! I didn't eat the cheesy beef thing, had I known that was what they consider a relleno, I would not have ordered it. My husband ordered the lunch carnitas. He said they were very good, but of the 6 chunks on his plate, only 3 of them had meat. The others were just fat. Overall this experience was really a 3-3.5stars but 3.5 was obviously not an option. For the third time in about 3 months I received the wrong take out order. These folks can't figure out a kindergarten activity. To make matters worse I tried to call to talk to the manager and for 15 minutes the phone was either taken off the hook or just not taking pick up orders. I have never dined in here, nor visited this place. All the stars are simply for the deliciousness and quantity of food that I ordered in. Camarones chipotle came with ample amount of shrimp cooked in the chipotle sauce, served with mexican rice, beans, 2 tortillas and a side of small salad with guacamole. I enjoyed the shrimp as a soft taco on the toritillas as well as simply with rice. The order also came with a bag of chips and salsa. Years ago I considered Casa Vallarta to be the best Mexican in Greensboro. Then Los Gordos came and went. In my grief I turned to El Camino Real. Tonight we had takeout from Casa Vallarta and I was happily reminded of how good it is! Our friends just moved to town and we ordered takeout to take over to their house. The food was ready quickly and the staff was so friendly when we picked it up. Everyone raved over the food. The servings were huge, we easily could have shared an order. The food here is delicious and they make it very quick! I've been here three times in the last month and a half. The first time I ordered from here everything was absolutely perfect! My friend called in the order instead of going through a delivery app. I got the alambre steak two times. The first go was much better than my second experience. I ordered pickup through the door dash app the second time and it was a little less impressive. Unfortunately, the pictures are from the second time I ordered and do not do the food proper justice. I ordered the guacamole and queso two times as well. I highly recommend both of those items as well. The second time I ordered the guacamole, there was a giant piece of hard avocado or maybe avocado skin? It took up half the bowl so I got a little less guacamole than I paid for but it was still delicious! The third time I actually dined there. The atmosphere was great and the staff was friendly. The queso was still amazing, although it costs $8 for a normal serving. The hubby and I shared the steak fajitas for two and were very impressed with the serving size! We had more than enough leftovers to make fajita omelettes for two the next morning. They didn't season the meat and veggies but I just added the guacamole, sour cream, salsa, and salt and pepper from the table. This has been a long time favorite of my family's for a quick bite: with super friendly staff and tasty Americanized Mexican food! So grateful they are open again! We opted to dine out on the patio where they have tables marked every 6ft to ensure safe distance dining. The same applies to indoors. Sanitation being taken seriously and tables/menus/ seating were all being continuously wiped down. This place is starting to become my favorite Mexican food spot in Greensboro. I've passed by it so many times and finally made the trip inside. The menu has tons of options on it. I forgot for many pages it has, but it's a lot. You'll find something on there that you'll want to try. The cheese dip is really good to get for your chips. It's easy to forget about this this solid Mexican restaurant, especially since we moved away from the immediate area. The proliferation of new Mexican restaurants, food trucks, grocery stores with grills, and taquerias adds to the ease with which this very good, long-standing restaurant can slip your mind. There is an ownership or family relationship with 3 other very good restaurants, San Luis I, II, & III (High Point). This is a rather large, rambling place, decorated in the typical fashion, nothing especially distinguishing it from many other area Mexican restaurants. The menu is also large, and a little rambling (the take out menu is 8 pages long), but all the usual dishes are there, including a variety of seafood and house specialties. There is nothing that is blow you away "authentic" on that large menu, but these folks do almost everything well, with the possible exception of the salsa, it is rather ordinary. I chose one of my favorites here, the Lunch Carnitas ($7.99). This is a well sized portion of excellent carnitas, tender& tasty with a slight outside crust that enhances the flavor. The pork comes with rice, beans, guacamole salad, pico de gallo, and 2 tortillas - I really like this combinations of flavors on the plate.
