Jalisco Tacos with carne asada version
    Gary F.

Excellent service, good food and a nice/clean/comfortable environment. A very typical menu in many ways but they have a dish, Jalisco tacos, that I had not seen anywhere else. I had the carne asada version and found them to be excellent. The steak was nicely cooked and the toppings of onion and cilantro were fresh. The corn tortillas were excellent and the tacos were much larger than I had expected. It was served with rice and beans...the beans were flavorful but the rice seemed a bit cool and did not have a strong flavor. I'll be back for the tacos and would recommend this restaurant particularly if you are in the area.

Entry and exit. Strangely, as you walk in, there is waiter station directly ahead and seating on either side.

Really enjoyed our dinner here. The table side guacamole wasn't made table side, but it was obviously just made and delicious ! Really satisfied my craving! I ordered Arroz con Cheech, and that was tasty. Our waiter was patient with us, and helped my 91-year-old mamacita to order. Kept my tea filled. Very good experience!

Pretty standard Mexican restaurant fair - nothing special and pretty average across the board. A little more pricey than you might expect for the area. The margaritas don't seem very strong unfortunately, which is a shame for a Mexican place like this.

This was my first time at this Rio. I've been to two others. Their salsa wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad. The queso was good. My taco salad was good. I do like a taco salad with guacamole but I've found only one of the Mexican restaurants I go to does that. Our service was good and the restaurant was clean and spacious. It was a very good experience.

My husband and I love Mexican food. We probably go out to get some on average at least once a week. We have our tried and true places, but recently both admitted that we think Rio Grande is hitting the best right now. Their flavor is always on point, the service is attentive, and they have a full bar. A lot of Mexican restaurants only have beer and Margaritas (made from mix), neither of which are really my thing. But here I can get a mixed drink to enjoy with my meal. Cheers! We usually go to the New Garden location, but this time we tried out the Friendly cantina as we were on that side of town. First thing we noticed was the interior/exterior. This location has a lot more flare. It is very decorated with bright colors, road signs, cactuses, and other fun things on the wall. It all just kind of added to the ambiance. They have a couple different seating areas. We were on the side by the large bar. Their chips and salsa always come in fast and flavorful. I like the we each get our own big bowl of salsa. They are happy to refill it as many times as you'd like. We are a sucker for the Elote Corn Dip (Grilled corn, cheese dip, queso fresco, cilantro, and pico de gallo, served hot). First it is just huge. You could be full from just eating all of this. Sometimes I am. Who doesn't love Queso, but add in some grilled corn? Yummy. Highly recommend. My husband noticed that the inclusion of the cilantro, pico, and Queso fresco on top is like colors of the Mexican flag , pretty cute. For my entree I got the Chicken Fajitas. It came out sizzling baby. Lots of chicken, peppers, onions, and tomatoes. Nicely cooked and seasoned per usual. Got a tasty side plate of rice, beans, and salad as well. Only strike against them is you don't get guacamole with their fajitas, unless you pay the up charge for the supreme. I get the corn tortillas as I believe they make those themselves. I had enough left over fajitas for another meal for sure. So also think they are a good value for the money.

If you're in the area, you need to eat here. The place is clean, the food is hot and fresh, the people are friendly and the service is fast. Because we live on the are we are here often. But today, I had a new dish called Special La Casa. It's two burritos with only beef tips inside, covered in melted cheese. Though it normally comes with a side of rice, I had beans instead. For me, nothing beats a simple meat-filled tortilla with cheese. To help wash that down I had a nice large mug of ice-cold Dos XX's lager. Our young granddaughter was with us and she had a kid's quesadilla. She opened it up and ate the cheese inside of it like a boss. Good girl, you do you! My wife had the quesa birillas. They are basically a taco. You need to try them. Not on the menu, but they are readily available. She had a frozen mango margarita with her meal and liked it a lot. Well, she likes it every time she gets it, which is every time we come here . We beat the dinner crowd. They were all arriving just as we were leaving. Yahoo! And of course, I'll be back (said just like Schwarzenegger). A

Food was amazing and the service was awesome! Carne asada with a generous portion of rice and beans! The guacamole salad and grilled pepper was so delicious!

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants! The service is great. The servers are always attentive and I've always been greeted when I walk in. Even though service is really fast, I never feel rushed. I love how each person gets their own salsa bowl. The salsa is one of my favorite salsas I've had. It tastes really fresh and has a lot of flavor. The queso dip is great. I usually get the cheese enchiladas there because I love the sauce they put on top. Everyone I've taken here has also enjoyed it so I highly recommend

I met some friends for lunch on this Taco Tuesday. They have special prices on tuesdays. They are normally pretty crowded around lunch time but we were seated in only a few minutes. The waiter took our order right away and brought us our drinks. The food was ready quickly and was as good as usual. The entire staff was attentive and friendly for our entire experience like all the other times I have eaten here. I plan on dining here again in the future.

Got the Quesabirria tacos which were really good. Restaurant wasn't too crowded for dinner so we got sat very quickly. Servers were friendly and attentive.

Complementary Chips and salsa I like that they give each guest their private bowl of salsa

Update for our 2026 annual visit:…read more We ate in this year and the service and ambiance matched the quality of the food we had last year. I have been looking forward to the World Ninja Championships so that I can eat here again and the team did not disappoint. I had the special, chilaquiles supreme and YES! Flank steak butterflied and so tender that I cut through it easily with a butter knife. They make the chips fresh for each order of chilaquiles and you can taste it. Generous amounts of every flavor that went into the meal and I left stuffed! Hands down, my favorite place and I have a feeling we are making a second trip here this year for sure! First impression as you walk in, or look at images of the menu: AUTHENTIC! First impressions when you bite into your food: They nailed the first impression! I had the lingua, tripa, pez, and Pastor tacos. My family had the California burrito, chicken and beef tacos, and the Enchiladas Mexicanos with mole and salsa verde. We also added a side of guac and chips. Guac: thin mixed avocado and perfectly sized chunks mixed in with the tomato and seasonings. An absolute must! The 4 tacos I ate were succulent to say the least. The tripa was thin and crispy, but you could taste the rendered fat in them. It had the texture of perfectly cooked bacon. Al pastor is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint. Then there was the pez taco that was just the right amount of crispy without being an iota overcooked. At last I ate the lingua taco. It melted in my mouth and I immediately wanted another. I don't even like mole sauce, but I couldn't stop eating the mole enchilada. Aces, hands down. The California burrito was phenomenal and had the perfect amount of each ingredient and a delectable amount of heat and sweet cream sauce. The chicken was obviously hand shredded and had equal amounts of larger chunks of meat and thin pulled pieces to soak up all the flavor in endless nooks and crannies. If you have not been here please do your palate a flavor and stop in. The value far exceeded the price of our meals and we plan on coming here every year when the World Ninia finals rome to town

Extra parking is located in the back. The guac is the best! Perfectly seasoned and definitely not scooped from a tub. Tried the Carne Asada, Pastor, and Chorizo tacos. YUM! We brought a whole group to Kiosco for lunch, and had called ahead to have patio seating. I love that there's indoor and patio seating, so there's something for everyone. Even with our large group size, the service was prompt and continuous. The patio seating had nice metal tables, and umbrellas for the tables to shade the sun. There happened to be a nice breeze that day also, so the outdoor seating was perfect for our group. For lunch, I had the burrito gordo, and gordo it was. I don't think I've seen a larger burrito from a sit-down restaurant. All of the fillings of the burrito were cooked very well, and the seasonings were on point. I don't know why I tried to eat all of it in one sitting, but I did and surprisingly didn't live to regret it. This place is great for parties of 1, 10, or more. True to its namesake, there are brightly colored folk art designs throughout the restaurant in line with their Mexican heritage. The trees that make it look overgrown from the outside actually serve to allow sunlight while masking the surrounding city, facilitating the transformation that makes you feel like you're in Mexico City. We came at an off-peak time in the afternoon and it was nearly empty. We were seated immediately and the service was prompt and attentive. I was pleased to see some unique menu offerings like Birra Ramen and Sopes that deviate from the standard American-friendly fare in most places. Drinks were good - we had a regular house margarita, a triple berry margarita, and a jalapeño cucumber margarita. All were tasty and I would order again. I tried to order a Mezcalita, since it's not often I see a Mezcal option, but they were out of that particular liquor. We tried to get street corn as an appetizer, which they were also out of. We got cheese and salsa with chips instead. The chips were hot and fresh, the salsa generous with the cilantro, and the cheese bold and warm. For entrees we had the Al Pastor Quesadilla and the Birra Ramen. The quesadilla was good, though the beans on the side were pretty bland. The ramen was a unique and very tasty option, and I was not able to finish such a generous portion. I think I'd leave the cheese out next time since it made some weird textures, but the flavor was great overall. Overall, there are some small things to improve (having menu items in stock, bland beans) and the prices were a bit high, but we had a great experience overall. I'm not often in the area, but I'll certainly eat here again if I am!
