There are lots of Mexican restaurants in columbia and this one falls towards middle of list for me. The service was good, the ambiance is nice but food was average at best. Maybe it was just my order of enchiladas, but seemed like frozen foods just warmed up. The rice was hard and chewy and beans were bland without much flavor. First time at this location and everything about this restaurant was welcoming and authentic. The guacamole could have a better consistency and the flavor of it is still okay. The bathrooms could use some TLC. The service started off slow but became more consistent. I was surprised this location was not as busy as other locations since it was a busy weekend. I'm automatically deducting stars because their street tacos are 3.50 a piece. I've never seen tacos so expensive from a cheap knock off tex mex restaurant they're basically price gouging because there aren't any good authentic Mexican restaurants in this town where you should be able to get them at a reasonable price. Their margarita was pretty freaking gross as well. I definitely had to sip it slowly just to handle the taste. But at least I didn't pay an arm and a leg for it. I'm taking away their last stars because they gave us street tacos on flour tortilla and put cheese on it. I legit almost took the food back and demanded a refund. How dare they. CHEESE?!?!? No full bar, but they do have margarita's and beer. Place was clean. Service was very quick. Chips and salsa were on the table in less than a minute. I did like the salsa a lot. We both ordered one cheese and one chicken enchilada with rice and beans. They were good. We also got a frozen margarita and a Corona Light. Service was excellent. We use to always go to Las Margaritas but with how busy and loud that place is we sought out a new place. Rio Grande is very close to our house so we figured we'd give them a try. Their service was great and all of the waiters operate as a well oiled machine. Their guacamole tastes so fresh and is perfect for chips and your meal. We got the rio grande fajitas and holy crap are the my grande. These were the biggest two person fajitas I'd ever seen. They use mushrooms, shrimp, chicken, steak, pork, and chorizo. Rio Grande is a place we decided to try because we've never been. I must say im quite happy. The service was good and the food was very tasty. Oh and do not get full on the chips and salsa before the meal. Also the portion sizes are huge! Im warning you now before you decide to attend. Especially the fajitas! If you and a loved one decide to get this dish just know the fajitas for 1 is enough for 2 people and fajita for 2 is enough for 4 people. I guess this is a great complaint to have. The atmosphere is great also. The happy hour is cool too. Cheap alcohol that probably not too many people know about. Looking for good authentic Mexican food this is a place to go. I lived in West Texas for over a decade and many of the Tex-Mex restaurants in CoMo serve up bland and uninspired fare. Rio Grande has some excellent dishes in the Steak section (as well as the Carnitas). The reason for the five stars is the extra hot sauce. If you like a tasty and very hot kick, ask for it as the regular salsa is rather tame. One additional plus is the cheap Mexican beers on tap. read more

Great Mexican stop in Columbia. The biggest difference between this place and other Mexican around town is how fast the food comes out - even during busy hours. The service is also really good with drink refills and making sure everything is made right. Highly recommend the Rio Grande tacos - 3 tacos of your choice.
