    Tacos carne asada

We were driving from Ohio to Virginia and needed a place to stop for dinner. I saw a previous Yelp review say the service was fast. They were accurate. 5 minutes after ordering, we had our food. Service was polite and prompt. The restaurant was clean with complete Mexican ambiance. It wasn't the best Mexican food I've had but it was better than fast food and I really appreciate the prompt service.

The staff was friendly, a frozen solid glass for my beer, and just a little Tapatío gave the enchiladas excellent flavor. Portions are a little small, but so are the prices. A nice find on a Sunday night when everything else In Cumberland was closed.

We arrived and seated right away. Served chips and salsa. I saw queso dip on the menu so ordered it Yum. We ordered table side guacamole and it was made perfectly. We ordered the chalupa Texana. I thought chalupas were a soft tortilla. This was an over fried corn tortilla. I didn't eat it. Others than that it a nice size for my appetite. My only complaint was the server should have asked do you want you entree after the guacamole or right away. It arrived before she was finished. I like my appetizer before my entree to give me a little time to enjoy it. We were here for one night. I'd come back if I lived here to try other menu items

Kids Meal Burger, taco and fries

This was a great stop on the way home to Ohio from Baltimore. It's right off the highway, the food arrived five minutes after we ordered and the staff went above and beyond. The kids meals are huge. The food quality was great and the interior was beautiful and clean. As super choosy foodies who struggle to find a place to stop, we will stop here again. The food is typical American Mexican restaurant fare, but the staff, location and speed make it our favorite restaurant on this route so far.

So good! Typical Mexican cuisine. Very good margaritas as well! Even got the rest of my drink to go!

Nice restaurant tucked into a strip mall. Service was crazy fast and it was a fairly crowded late covid restrictions Saturday afternoon. They have a unique way of serving salsa in a glass decanter with a warm basket of chips. The cheese enchiladas were excellent if not a little small. That's the good news. I found some of the food salty although my friend thoroughly enjoy everything. The chili Relleno was very disappointing hence the loss of a star. But overall the service was attentive and I will return again for another visit

    Burrito bandera

I stopped by here this past Sunday afternoon with my wife, sister, newphew and parents for lunch. We were all visiting my sister and she was the one who chose Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant there was a entrance area with a hostess station on one side and on the other side were human sized characters with faces cut out so you could put your face in them. They were against the wall and so weren't able to be used but I will admit that I was amused by them. We were quickly taken to a booth which fit the 6 of us just fine. My only complaint about it is that the table was quite close to the booth itself which made getting in and out quite difficult. As the menus came, so did complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were your garden variety chips but the salsa was pretty tasty and had a nice kick to it. For dinner on this day I was between the fajita rio grande and the burrito bandera before ultimately choosing the burrito bandera while my wife went with the special Lilliana. The menu described my burrito as grilled chicken, steak, shrimp, pineapple, onions & tomato all stuffed in a burrito with sour cream salad. Whenever the burrito came to the table I have to admit that I was surprised at the size of it. It had ample amounts of all of the advertised meats, all of which had good flavor. I especially appreciated the chorizo which had a good texture and really brought some spice to the dish. It was countered perfectly by the sweetness from the pineapple giving this whole dish a sweet and spicy flavor. The chicken, beef and shrimp were all cooked nicely and I really enjoyed them. After being only half way through the burrito I ended up giving up, partially due to the number of chips I ate, and took the rest home for part of another meal. My wife also enjoyed her meal but had leftovers as well. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. Both my wife and I enjoyed our meals and we thought that the portion sizes were more than fair for the price.

This place is very clean with great service and decent food. I ordered a sangria and it was huge and very good.

Very clean restaurant with great service, decent food and great cocktails. The sangria was huge.

While having its own building is a plus, parking can quickly become a headache during busy hours, so timing your visit makes a difference. Walking in, there wasn't a host present, which made the entrance feel a little unorganized at first. However, a server quickly stepped in and pointed us in the right direction. From there, the experience improved the service was genuinely friendly and attentive, which helped set a positive tone for the meal. The burrito was the highlight. It came out well prepared with solid flavor throughout, even though it didn't include any sides. Normally, that might feel like something is missing, but the taste was good enough to carry the dish on its own. Pricing leans a bit on the higher side, which is something to keep in mind, especially given the lack of extras. Overall, Taqueria Guadalajara delivers where it matters most good flavor and friendly service even if it has a few logistical hiccups like parking and the initial lack of greeting. It's the kind of place that leaves you debating between a 4 and a 5, but the quality of the food ultimately pushes it into 5-star territory

Salsa continues to be delicious (albeit punishing the next day), and of my three tacos, carnitas was the only one to write home about. Pescado was fishy (not in the good way), and the al pastor was, again, just okay. Pointed out my chipped water glass to the server, who was apologetic and promptly replaced it. Best tacos in the area continue to be Los Altos de Jalisco in Winchester. I said what I said.

This time I was passing by at dinner time so checked it out. It was Trivia Night so I opted for outside at one of the small 3 patio tables. The street has an outdoor dining vibe with two other restaurants also with outdoor seating. You put in your order at the bar (at least this Wednesday night) with a welcoming bartender on easy check list for sushi and ramen. I was stopping on the late side and those finishing their meals were clearly enjoying themselves. Many knew each other across tables as lots of stopping by for chats among friends. The pork belly in the ramen was definitely my jam as it had a crunchy top with easy to come apart pieces. Definitely the highlight. Not nearly as big a fan of the Asian greens which fell into almost a paste, the mushrooms not looking like they were fresh (to be fair there is a shiitake option I missed), and the smoked eggplant a little too chewy. And I took a flyer on the "special broth" without asking what it was so that is on me. But the really dark perhaps cinnamon infused (don't hold me to it) version was not something for me. The noodles were ample but not plentiful and were legit. So I think I'd opt for Nori instead of Asian greens next time and go with more traditional toppings. But definitely endorse the pork belly. I tried a smoked eggplant sushi role as something new. Just fine, I've tried it but I'll try another combo they have next time. And I know the economics are tough these days and specialty roles are routinely low teens in cost, but I'd suggest a two tier pricing scheme rather than $13.00 for one with a single ingredient and just 6 rather than normally 8 for specialty rolls. Glad I stopped and I will again to try some of the other fare. Just may be a little more traditional in my choices next time.

I will say that the wait staff is fine and deserves a fair amount of grace. They can only do so much. If I were the owner I would fire the kitchen manager, the bar manager, and myself out of embarrassment. The entire system needs thrown out and redone. Perhaps just sell the building to someone who actually cares about the business and wants to make proper changes. Once again, the food took forever to come out, and after well over two hours we only got two of four items ordered. The quality of the food was fair to poor at best. You will never find yourself craving anything from here. Then you have the poorly stocked bar. They ran out of three things while we were there. All before 8pm on a Saturday. Their whisky selection is embarrassing for a place with a Cigar Lounge. At this point we will only go back for events and we will be either eating before or just taking our own food to eat there. Probably our own drinks too since they can't seem to do that right. Mismanaged. Uninspired. Underwhelming. Embarrassing. Wasteful. Shameful.
