Love coming to see the deals they have on their merchandise. I'm always happy with my purchases and always look forward to coming back.

Good to see an old fave running the retail (Marty) who had a wealth of personal experience in the surf industry too. Have plenty of Bings & Brewers and experimental shapes and tried winners & you name it. Clean too and organized and unlike anything else I've seen. Kudos and highly recommend.

To start, my partner and I went in because he's looking for a new fish board and he wants very specific dimensions. We were so excited because we found the perfect board! It was a HIC Steve Morgan 74 fish BUT there were a few pressure dents on the deck AND the bottom of the board. These dents are bigger than a quarter and all surfers know they will only get bigger. To preface, we saw that the board was already marked down $50 but we thought it was a normal markdown/sale (a lot of boards were on sale). So after seeing these dents, we asked for help from an associate (older white guy in a collared shirt). When he came over, we asked about the pressure dents. His response was incredibly rude and passive aggressive, he said something along the lines of "Well you see these dents it's already marked off $50 because of this." Just super rude. Now keep in mind, we were going to spend $900 on a "brand new board" with pressure dents. We were overall just curious about the price of the board and if anything else could be done. My partner and I have also worked in a surf shop, surf often, and have had a hand in shaping boards so we're somewhat knowledgeable in this area. If there wasn't a further markdown, we would have spent the full amount on the board but that man was so rude that we put the board back, said thank you, and walked out.

We stopped by on our way back from a day at Yokohama Bay and weren't disappointed. We got spicy and shoyu bowls and nachos, and the fish was so fresh. Drinks are reasonably priced, and they have ice cream too if you want dessert. We sat outside at the tables and devoured them. You wouldn't think a surf shop would have among the best poke on the island, but they do.

As we were…read morerenting kayaks and other gear, I got the impression that this surf shop is mainly used by locals who have a truck or vehicle to transport the rented gear where they want. We had over estimated our ability to walk the heavy kayak down to the beach and the owner was very kind to assist us by loading it in his vehicle, while at the beach he introduced us to the life guard because he was concerned as there were strong winds/currents that day, and he also came to check in on us and helped drive the kayak back. We were super grateful for the effort he put in because it truly was exceptional. The boogie boards and snorkel gear were good quality and easy to carry if you're going to a local beach. If you do want to rent the kayaks, just make sure you have the transportation figured out. When we returned we also had some shaved ice which was some of the best we had during this trip. Very refreshing!

The customer service I experience from registering and setting our visit up over the phone was excellent. Registered for Kama'aina and was given the Memorial Day Buy 2 explorer passes get 1 free! Even more so worth the trip. My only gripe is the surfing experience is EXPENSIVE. As much as I would love for my family and I to get on there. It's just such a rip off for our entire family to take part. They have a good variety of food and drinks offered - way better than the water park. Prices are also reasonable - as expected but not outrageous. The bathrooms are nice and clean. They offer locker rental for $10 with a $5 refund upon returning of the keys. They also have a more "luxury" locker room experience for $20. But you don't need it; they offer showers and changing tents outside, on the side of the coffee bar. Good idea to go before they open the course at 10am so you can check in and snag a good seating area for your group. Our items and wagon were safe even when we were all in he water. The only thing for us is the water...as locals we are not a fan of the fresh water experience. I haven't stopped thinking about how it's treated if so...And my son didn't care much about it while we were there, but once we left he said he didn't wanna go back or have his party there anymore because he thinks the water is dirty. There is fish in there, from small ones too you can see; to some bigger ones out when you do some exploring.

I walked into a few other surf and snorkel spots but they mostly carried short fins. I went with the Leaderfins which are the most affordable carbon fins. The fins do come separately from the foot pocket, so I also got their forza foot pockets. They do offer a service where they put together your fins and foot pockets but only certain people are trained on that, so I did have to pick it up just a few days later- and that service is $30. I also got a pair of diving socks to go with my fins. They have different sizes, thicknesses, and cuts (high vs low). I also got a new diving mask and snorkel. The best thing about going to a dive shop is the ability to try things on and Westside Dive has so many different options. Being able to put on the foot pockets with the diving socks or even just trying on a few different masks to find the one that best fits your face is why it's better to come in person than buying online. The service was also super friendly. I was making some big purchases, so I wanted to make sure that each component was exactly right and the staff here was helpful and overall super chill. We talked story for a bit, exchanged where we like to go diving and even some fish recipes. If you're looking for diving gear, support local and check out Westside Dive!
