This was a fun place to check out on a recent trip to Dayton. It is in a converted barn. But, the food is anything but rustic. They have some great dishes like steak, salmon, and salads. The menu was large with something for everyone and the place was overall just a cool feel. I found the prices to be fair. My steak was fantastic and my wife's smoked wings were great too. They have AMAZING homemade dressings and sauces too. The only thing I do not like that lost them a star is they do something odd where they put a cash and card price on the receipt with card being about 3% more the the menu price. Not a huge deal, but with the most of the population using card at this point it is probably time to just include that cost in the menu rather than add 3% to the end. Or provide a discount for cash from menu price rather than an add on. Seems like a weird way to make the menu price look a little lower. read more

This place is awesome. We got here and they had a live band, The Contenders, they are great. Even though they were very busy and it was hot out the servers were working hard to get everyone taken care of. Food was delicious, I had the Tequila Lime Chicken and my husband had the Biker Burger. Both were excellent! They are pet friendly outside but totally worth stopping or coming back to. read more

We walked in and told to have a seat anywhere. Picked a booth and sat over 30 minutes without any interaction/acknowledgement from the server after getting menus. Rip Rap is awesome. Great outdoor vibes. They have music many nights. The inside is really nice and fun. The food is absolutely delicious! Their chicken tenders and Nashville hot chicken tenders are so good, it took me forever to try something else. They are soo good. I especially like to get them and sub the cheesey potatoes for the french fries. So yummy. It also comes with cole slaw. I am not a fan of the cole slaw, but others may like it. If you haven't had their meatloaf before, you should try it. It is INCREDIBLE!! It is absolutely perfect. We have stopped a few times, and the food is always good. The service is good most times as with most places. They have lots of outdoor dining and a couple of bar's outside. Inside there are tables and booths. We tried hog wheels (potato skins with BBQ pulled pork), pulled pork sandwich, pretzel bites, chicken chunks, chicken tenders, and the pizza. As I am a big pizza guy, here is my take on it, I always order pepperoni to try the first time. This one hurts. Our first visit to Rip Rap Roadhouse was pretty great, honestly. My wife and I visited before a matinee at the nearby Rave theater, and the food was spectacular. I was honestly looking forward to another of their peppercorn steaks with a side of the street corn. Unfortunately, our second visit went about as badly as one could possibly imagine. We arrived at 5:45 on a Saturday night. The restaurant was busy, but not hatefully so. When we arrived, one group was ahead of us, but we could see multiple open (and cleaned) tables, but no one at the host stand. After about 15 minutes, someone finally seated both of our parties, but did so in the most perfunctory manner, simply pointing and saying "you can sit over there." After being seated, we waited really another 15 minutes for our drink orders, and we elected to order our entrees at the same time. Nothing too difficult: ribs for me, the pork chop for my wife, and chicken tenders for our 3 year old, and am order of pretzel bites to get us started. That was the last time we saw our waitress until last 7pm. With a hungry 3 year old starting to get restless, I tracked down our waitress and asked where our food might be. She told us that the kitchen had a glitch and she'd go check to see where we were at. Apparently, she got barked at by the kitchen staff, and couldn't provide us an answer. Our pretzel bites finally arrived at 7:23. Almost 90 minutes since we arrived. We never saw our waitress again. We left at 7:45--a full 2 hours after arriving-- having not eaten anything but a meager 10 pretzel balls split between the 3 of us. I really, genuinely enjoyed our first visit to RRR, but after this? Never again. I don't care how good the food is; it's not worth the poor service and the absolute ridiculous wait times for what amounts to pretty simple food. Don't bother wasting your time. Dayton has so many other great spots to eat, Rip Rap Roadhouse isn't worth your frustration. read more

Wow. Heard about it for years, finally went. We will be back. The deep fried bacon wrapped breakfast burrito smothered in sausage gravy. The meatloaf was broiled and crispy and moist and most excellent. It's not far off the main drag at all like I thought. It's like a half mile off Old Troy (202) down Fishburg, you literally can't miss it, it's red and huge. We have been needing a new place for " I dunno what we feel like" days. Since this place does bbq, burgers, salads, comfort food, pizza and everything in between i think we found it. E needed a new Huber place for before and movies too. We will be back. We found this place by accident on Friday 3/14/25. What a find! Got there around 6pm & we're told it would be 40-60 minutes for a table. We grabbed a couple cold beers from the bar & just hung out & checked out the menu. Great variety to choose from. After almost 30 minutes our table was ready. Rack of ribs for me, meatloaf for him. It was all fantastic. By the end of the evening we had interacted with five or six employees. Every one of them were friendly and very good at their jobs. It was very busy and loud. Went here for late lunch. I have heard of their bike nights. It's an old brick barn that has been transferred into a restaurant/entertainment spot. We got the gumbo to try, it's has just enough spicy-ness to let you know it's gumbo and not too much to make you regret ordering it. It has rice mixed in, I'm a fan of no rice or let me add it. We had the fish sandwich and the roadhouse club, both were delicious. Staff was super friendly, prices are reasonable. Lots of motorcycle decorations in the bar area. This place is amazing! We started coming here a few months ago and couldn't be happier we did. The weekend brunch menu is delicious. I think we've tried everything on it. And, you cannot beat the prices. Other than brunch, we've had pizza, burgers and meatloaf and have loved it all. We usually sit at the bar and the bartenders are all very friendly and accommodating. A really cool old barn with a really neat bar inside. We love riding our bikes their in the summer...we like the restaurant/bar. We like their bike nights... .. all their food is served in one time use containers. Which makes sense at an event/bike night. But not for regular daily service. Even all their drinks came in solocups. It's open seating. Which is cool on a very slow day. But on a day when people are out and about its very hard to find seating. You might wait patiently for a spot to open up without hovering over the other guests - just so other people who came in after you will rudely snatch away a table you have been waiting for. If you are only 2 or 3 people you might be able to squeeze in with some others, if they are willing to share their spot. But If you are out on a group ride it's hard to find a table for more than just 2 people. Their shakes are good. Regular food is rather boring and nothing special. I'd go there for the atmosphere of the bar and drinks but not food. read more

Wow, what a wonderful find thanks to restaurant week. Advertised as an upscale bike bar, but it's so much more. It was a cold and rainy night, so place was barely full. We were in the no tv restaurant section (thankfully) which was great. The big surprise was the chef... Fantastic tender double pecan crusted chicken breast with perfectly cooked fresh asparagus! Wonderful salads, and three berry New Orleans inspired beignets for desert were amazing! Others in party had terrific aged sirloin or great portion of wonderful shrimp primavera. All were perfect. When I envision or look at a club sandwich before devouring, I see more meat and condiments then bread. I believe that is what makes a club sandwich gin fact itself. Chicken lettuce under bacon. CLUB. Pickle Spear. Along with tomato, paired with whatever spin the joint puts. I'll say that I didn't intend to get this lunch item but was told "we do not have egg whites". So this was a rushed choice when out to eat with 9 people. There was salmi? Or some deli meat similar, I am not sure. (The "spin" roadhouse chose). I wasn't pleased with the choice of bread or the salami but might have liked it if it was on tradition white bread instead of a sub sandwich, along with being cold vs. hot. Thank you Yelpers! We searched for dinner options on a Saturday night after a long day of traveling. We noticed this was only a couple of miles from our hotel, so we loaded it in the GPS and started out. After a couple of turns off the beaten path I was starting to doubt our decision and when Gabby Garmin said we'd arrived, all we saw in the dark was a fast food storefront that was obviously closed. However, we made a couple of turns and saw the packed parking lot and knew we were back on track. We walked in the door and could hear the band booming out tunes and the party at full strength. The area we walked into had a number of tables and booths and the server who greeted us said we could head into the vibrant bar area or choose the slightly more reserved dining area we were already in. We opted for a table there, where we could still hear the music, but also have a quieter conversation. Our server quickly took our drink orders and then went to the bar to ensure my martini order was prepared as she'd punched it into the system-it was perfect! The bartender accidentally poured too big a beer for my wife (if there is such a thing) - well, just misread the size, so our server gave her the bonus suds! I ordered the grilled chicken salad. It was a wonderful mix of dark greens and tender flavorful chicken and veggies. It far exceeded my expectations. My wife got the pulled pork sandwich. She did end up asking for some additional BBQ sauce, but otherwise found the sandwich to be a great punch of flavor, and a generous serving size. The sauce had a nice zing to it and the pork was delicious. Our server, Jennifer, was wonderful-pleasant, efficient, and very personable. This is a great burger kind of place north of Dayton's NeedmoreRd on Wagner-Ford Rd. It's in the basement of a very old barn and it's very well put together. I had the Biker Burger with vegetables. It was 1/2 lb burger with tomato, onions, pickles, lettuce on a upgraded bun. It had a mild seasoning that was nice! And it didn't last very long. What a fun place with a cool vibe. And perfect for social distancing because their patio is huge and wraps around two sides of the building. You pick your own table and someone will be by to help you in no time. Our server visited us, gave us first timers some suggestions and then brought out food out pretty quickly. My son loved his kids burger and fries. I got the loaded fries. Don't get too disappoint when it arrives - the toppings are just a sprinkling, not truly loaded. But I was happy that it meant their AMAZING fries stayed nice and crispy. And they were happy to bring me an extra side of queso. My husband got some crazy burger that's topped with brisket and some kind of cheesey potato. The brisket had great flavor on its on. But put all together, it was very heavy. I felt it needed a good drizzle of some zingy bbq sauce. This, of course, is when it suddenly became harder to snag our waitress. But when we did, she brought the sauce asap and we felt it really made it perfect. We also stopped by their Shake Shack before leave. My little boy loved his peanut butter sundae. TL;DR: Good food, great price, and overall great experience. I'd definitely go again. Food: Tasted great, large portion sizes. The lunch special comes with an entree and one side which was plenty. I got an extra side to try something extra and ended up with leftovers. Everything had good flavor, the only thing I would have preferred is a little less salt but it wasn't so much that I didn't enjoy the meal. Price: Price was very reasonable for the amount of food. Love that they include tax in the price. Service: Server was friendly and the food came out fairly quickly. I came in after lunch but before people started getting off work so I can't comment on how quickly things happen when it gets busy. Overall: Great experience. The Cinnamon Roll Pancakes were sweet and delicious, crispy in some places, yet soft and absolutely delicious! My husband had the bacon wrapped burrito, he liked the texture and said it was a whole breakfast in a burrito. He also had a southwest burrito that he enjoyed and we shared biscuits and gravy. This particular venue has undergone several name changes over the years but one thing stayed constant... this bar is described as a Raucous biker bar. The description alone has always deterred me from stopping in. It just gave me an impression that it's just a typical bar with typical bar food and loud music. Well, today I was feeling adventurous, so the hubby and I stopped in to see what this Rip Rap Roadhouse had to offer. They have tables and high tops in the main bar area as well as a separate dining room area. We opted for a high top in the main bar. It was not as dark as I had expected and there was an old Indian motorcycle on display which was surrounded by the liquor bottles. Multiple TVs on the wall and I honestly don't remember if music was playing. If they did have music on, it was not obnoxiously loud. There were exposed beams and some unique decor. As we were sitting down we were told our server would be right with us and she was... Her name is Eryn. I was surprised to find that they offered brunch as well as lunch and dinner. We opted for the lunch menu... Dean chose a Blue Moon on tap and, of course, I opted for my Grey Goose dirty martini. We had wings for appetizers and the Pulled Pork and the Pot Roast Sandwich plates. I have to say the food was really really good. The wings had a wonderful flavor, were very crisp and not greasy at all. The hubby and I always split our sandwiches in half so each of us can try more than one item. We agreed the pulled pork and the pot roast sandwiches are really good... I'm not sure which one I liked best. The kettle chips we're out of this world...if I could have bought a bag of them, I would have. The coleslaw has a rich flavor and very creamy. Kudos to the bartender...as the martini's were perfect, seriously, it tasted just like the ones I make it home. Now to our server, Eryn. This young lady ranks in our top five servers. She was nothing but smiles, very accommodating, very personable and attentive. Plus she had a wonderful sense of humor. She made our visit that much better.
