We have ate here tons of times over the past 15 + years. It is just in the past year or so George's lacks the consistent good flavor of food they use to have and consistent spot on customer service they always had. Today we ordered the mixed family broasted chicken and no issue when we were told there woukd be a wait because we expect that because it is broasted. We were told when our order would be ready and we arrived a little early. Our order should be ready around 6 pm and we arrived at 5:50 pm. We phoned at 5:50 pm stating we wanted to inform them we we were ready in space 3 but were early. She stated she was bagging it up as we speak. Eleven minutes went by and no order. My husband walked in. Our order was setting there. The lady said I am not sure what happened your order is ready it has been setting there. My husband said we have been setting in spot 3 for 11 minutes waiting since we phoned and was told then she was bagging our order. She had no response and he walked out. We tipped $5 on the $30 to go order, come on now! I asked my husband to count the chicken it was all there then we drove home. The chicken was dry. In the past their broasted chicken has ALWAYS been good. This tasted old not fresh but yet it was hot however, not seasoned. The fries were as if they were at the bottom of the bag. Several small pieces versus the larger fries. I have never been served them when I have ate in their restaurant before. I thought that was odd. The coleslaw appeared to be days old. I was not impressed due to the taste of the food and lack of getting me my order on time. I will be choosing someplace else to spend by hard earned money. Too many disappointments here. read more

I will say this place to me was just ok, my parents took me here and I had the country breakfast. The biscuits and gravy were not it for me. The gravy was very floury and did not have sausage in it as far as I could taste. The eggs were scrambled a little too hard and did not taste like they were salt or peppered. With it being St. Patty's Day weekend, we needed to line our stomachs with some heavy food before the festivities begin. We opted to support a mom & pop family-style diner, and we instantly felt right at home. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, exactly what you'd hope for in a comforting, home-cooked meal experience I ordered the country fried steak and eggs, which arrived hot, flavorful, and perfectly crispy. It paired wonderfully with delicious home fried potatoes and fluffy, buttery biscuits--truly the perfect hearty breakfast We also enjoyed the Belgian waffle topped generously with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. It was an absolute delight, tasting just like the funnel cakes you get at the fair--crispy, sweet, and utterly delicious. Well.. George's has been on my list of places to try for quite some time. Finally up that way for a basketball game so stopped in to give it a try. A bit like walking into the past when you enter the building. Reminds me of the diners you'd go and eat at in the late 70's early 80's with tables with chairs and booths. The folks working here welcome you in as soon as the door closes behind you. You get the feeing like everybody knows everybody in here as they are all just so friendly. I ordered a burger and the lovely Mrs ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. They were both tasty but my burger was the winner. This is exactly what I'm looking for in a burger. Soft bun, thick, juicy, seasoned well and cooked to perfection(med-rare). I added onions rings for an additional $3.50 which was to me a bit steep for the number of rings that were plated but they were good nonetheless. Would I go back? Sure, if I'm in the area. We stopped here for dinner because of the great reviews, and I'm glad we did. The restaurant has a family dinner feel and is very casual. They served diner style food, you could get anything from breakfast food to classic comfort foods. We started with an order of fried mushrooms. The mushrooms had a crispy fried outside that made them so good, and it was served with marinara, which was a nice touch. I got the country fried chicken for my entree. Tonight stopped by for dinner catching up with a cousin. Family run restaurant, George's serves breakfast all day. We started with fried mushrooms appetizer, my Dad had the cabbage roll special which comes with 2 sides-he had cottage cheese & mashed potatoes, my cousin had the braised pork chop and I had the inside out mushroom burger. The burger was cooked to order I o ordered medium, it was very juicy had mushrooms inside & outside the burger- one of the best burgers I've had in Dayton. My latest and final visit to George's. Server was stomping frantically (marching about) without really getting anything done. She would start to take an order then turn away from the customer and yell across the dining room. She literally bounced plates and drink cups onto tables as she was flying by. Friday night all you can eat fish - we could see some tables were getting served seconds on fish, while our section was told they were out of fish at this time. I actually got some but not from our server. Our order was wrong and we were over billed for items we did not order. The owner offered me a dinner roll at check-out, and I informed him I wanted it a half hour ago with my dinner. DON;T WASTE YOUR TIME! read more

Went with the boyfriend on a Sunday about 1 PM (they closed at 3) and the place was packed, people waiting outside for a table. You put your name in and cell # and they call when you're ready to be seated. Once seated, the waitress came over and took our orders. Took almost 30 minutes to get the food to the table and the waitress forgot many things. Cheese on top of fried potatoes and gravy, Syrup and butter for the french toast and apple butter for the boyfriend's toast. The food was really really tasty!! I got the French Toast Feast, with 2 eggs, polish sausage, fried potatoes with gravy and cheese. He got the Greek omelette, which he said was freaking amazing. Last Saturday they had the police and fire department serving customers to raise money to help the needy for the holidays, so we had extra incentive to go there in a Thursday night. They did an excellent job! They food is always good, the service and staff are great, and you can't beat the prices. The food is freshly cooked and the helping are large. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and a good breakfast more so. George's didn't disappoint!! It's just about perfect, and I'm sure the lunch and dinner options are too. We ate there twice on a recent visit to Dayton. Lured in by the "Pork Chops and Eggs" (you choice of Broasted or Grilled) and returned for an Scrambler with sausage and cheese a day or two later. Both delish! We also tried the pancakes and waffles, sides of crispy bacon. Our first visit was on a weekday, and we were seated right away (not too crowded) On Sunday we came back and the place was hopping! We were seated quickly. I don't live in Ohio anymore but I flew in to scatter my mom's ashes and visit my Dad. Since my Mother worked there in 1977, I thought it was appropriate to have lunch here after visiting the cemetery. The food is decent. My uncles ruebun was pretty pitiful and he had to ask for hot fresh fries. The layout is a disaster. They removed the coffee counter. The chefs window is still there but Rick and Dave from the 70's is long gone. Our server said the kitchen was overwhelmed and maybe why we waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Definitely a friendly staff tho. Overall it was nice to visit for Nostalgic purposes but like everything, the thrill is gone read more

Interestingly, they are a Greek restaurant with offerings such as gyros, and Greek plates but I've only been here for breakfast which is truly dynamite. Yesterday I had the Country fried steak with sausage gravy, eggs and potatoes. The steak was perfect. The breading was light, crispy and seasoned just right. The sausage gravy over the top was an excellent way to serve this item for breakfast. The portions were big and so good. I hate when I order breakfast and I get enough food to feed a small army so I was very pleased with the size of my breakfast sandwich. My dad ordered the pork breakfast and while it was cooked very well he would have preferred a bit more seasoning to the meal. The brown exterior sign outside looks more RV lot than throwback 60s diner with counter barstools; its all a little dated but the food is great, large 4-page Greek American menu with quick service and one can even dabble at Keno while dining. Both the Senior Half waffle egg sausage breakfast $5.95 and the Greek 3-egg omelette were just what we needed to keep the foot to the peddle, with a quick 10 min order to delivery! Selecting english muffin for toast tacked on .25c (not a big deal and the waffle was .20c more than menu price. Might prove interesting for larger group orders to see what extras may pop. Alas Yelpers get 10% first timer ck in discount ). Tzatziki omelette topper had lovely dill pop, waitress service was great and kept hot coffee flowing, though a weak buzz for the caffeine pros.
