Walking in the front door- you don't find anyone at the front desk. I breezed in, started wandering around the facility, and nobody was around- the halls were empty of people working there. That seems to be the general feeling of the place- grossly understaffed. My grandmother has been complaining about the fact that she hits the button that calls the nurses, and nobody shows up for five hours. Five Hours. They haven't been able to deliver her prescribed pain medications, because the facility has been out for days. Days. How does a medical facility run out of medicine?! The management here is largely absent. It's taken days to get to see a doctor. Days! This place is completely inept. Don't send your loved ones here. The one guy on duty doesn't have nearly enough time to get to see them. Beware!

I spent my time doing all of it myself, except making jewelry. The food staff was awesome, the regular staff was rude. I came home with bed bugs. It is not dual-diagnosis. You never have your phone. The fishing was horrible. And you can only do walks when staff allows it. The covers on the beds were inadequate. And they charge you like you are rich to stay. I couldn't even workout be cause the men had the workout area, and women are not even allowed to watch TV in the great room. Sexist, the staff is awful, and rude.

My son called almost everyday had access to phone privileges? I brought him cigarettes and items upon request both times at night the gate was open no security. My son DIED 3 days after leaving this place . And fyi another boy had died prior to him . They are still to this day trying to bill my insurance company for tests that they did on my son which none of had any knowledge of . I never met anyone in person here. My son was 29 but I was the one paying thru insurance. They were quick to get him in there for insurance money and even after 2 years I still and getting bills for tests ran from their doctors not mine I had no knowledge of these tests !!!!

We couldn't have done it without help from Sisters Care!…read more Our mother broke her ankle and needed inpatient rehab after the surgery to repair it. She is also in stage 5 Alzheimer's dementia and had a very bad reaction to the anesthesia used during the surgery; a very common side effect for those with dementia. Family members and friends were by her side all day and evening, but we didn't have anyone who could be there at night. Mom was having extremely vivid nightmares and would be very upset when she woke up in the middle of the night disoriented and feeling an urgent need to get out of bed and run away! Sisters Care from The Village at Incarnate Word provided the overnight coverage for us. The "angels" who helped Mom were able to reorient and help her to calm down so she could go back to sleep. They also kept her from walking on her broken ankle before it was sufficiently healed. I wish I could mention each of our caregivers directly.... Onboarding was seemless and stress free. We explained moms level of dementia and a "story" to go along with. Mom was getting a "personal assistant" once a week for companionship and shopping for any of her personal needs. The care givers were so kind! No pressure...just friendship. We purchased a wheelchair transport for my 86 year old mom recovering from a total hip replacement…read morefrom Bryan Texas to Boerne. For $1300. Unfortunately we didn't understand that they would not be providing the wheelchair. They advertise "medical " transport. The driver showed up in a minivan. If my mom would have had her own wheelchair she would not have been able to ride securely in the van. She had great difficulty being lifted into the van. Not safe for an 86 year old woman recovering from hip replacement surgery. We essentially paid for a very $$$$$ expensive Uber ride. The driver was a nice gentleman and he delivered mom safely. We had to pay for this service privately from our mom's fixed income because it's not covered by insurance. I spoke with case manager today from rehabilitation facility where my mom was transferred from, he confirmed that he in fact can confirmed with Everyday Health that this would be a wheelchair van transport and he was assured it would be. He and his staff were as shocked as we were when the driver showed up in a minivan. If I would have known this would be the service we would receive for my 86 year old mom post total hip replacement, I would have done it myself.
