We were looking for an oyster bar in Daytona beach so I picked this one out. It's on the street side next to the beach so not the best of the best location compared to some of the beach view options, but the outside patio is still really pleasant regardless of the cars rumbling down the avenue. I split the grouper with my dad. The veggies were great since it's not always easy to get veggie meals in the south. So that was much needed and felt good to my body. The coconut rice was yummy and a fun touch and the grouper was cooked perfectly. Flakey and flavorful. It was a well rounded meal and very enjoyable, and not super filling when split. I also had a side of sweet potato fries and I wish they had cooked then a bit more, they were still elasticy and not so warm and crisp: looked like they came from a store bought bag. My husband had grouper and shrimp and hush puppies. The hush puppies were really good and he got the seafood Caribbean style which he really enjoyed. We have been coming to this location for many years, and always come back for more! We often split some appetizers & soups, but the entrees and sandwich options are great also! The Riptide Shrimp & Fried Green Tomatoes were what we had today....yummy, and perfect for sharing! Some other appetizers that are delicious and unique to Riptides that we love: Caribbean Chicken Nachos, Rumicane Shrimp, and Shrimp and Avocado Spring Rolls. I can't say enough good things about the soups! The New England Clam Chowder was full of potatoes and clam pieces, and the Surf & Turf Bisque was just as full of beef/shrimp! Delicious! The restaurant is clean, the service is always friendly and pretty fast. The menu has something for everyone, and the drink lists are great! Parking can be a bit tricky, but there are a few options that make it easier! The beach ramp has pay parking, but you can use your phone to pay very easily. There is often complimentary valet at the condo/resort, and there is also a big public park (Andy Romano Beachfront Park) with lots of parking. Out server also mentioned that Riptides has purchased the lot across the street, and there's a crosswalk to keep it safer. Hope you try it and enjoy! read more

Something in this area I naturally doubt. I suspect tourist trap...not here! This is no doubt the best meal we had while on vacation. 6 people including two kids. EVERYONE was satisfied and loved their meals. Even the kids were asking to come back. The Coconut Mahi was served one of the best meals I've had. The margarita was amazing. The shrimp was so fresh and well cooked. The fish was fresh and well prepared. Don't second guess it. Great place! read more

Food is alway good we visit every Jeep beach however this year bartender was not attentive. This restaurant has started charging for using credit cards however Florida law prohibits charges on debt card bartender refused to remove charge and would not get manager. Make sure and report to AG if it happens to you. read more

We fell for the all you can eat crab advertising banner and went there. The crab price was $115 for that. We did not have the crab. We had very good crab cakes and yummy in house made hush puppies. Also had a side of raw oysters. They were small but very tasty. We went about five o'clock and thought perhaps they may have an early bird special or drink special, there was none. Place was sparsely attended since it was a Tuesday. Staff was nice. Not much as far as atmosphere. Definitely nothing to prompt a return visit or extra mention. read more

We made a quick last minute decision to go to riptides and I'm so happy we did! The service was great, the food was just as good and the drinks were strong. We had a wonderful time! The coconut cay mahi was incredible and so were the coconut shrimp. During happy hour make sure to get a 32oz beer, you keep the glass and if you come back with a picture of your glass you get the next beer 1/2 off during happy hour! Got the blackened red snapper platter. Huge piece of fish (with skin), awesome hush puppies, very good coleslaw, and black beans and rice. Wife got the steak tips. Overcooked but good flavor. Veggies were good and loaded baked potato was fine. I wouldn't recommend the steak but the fish was excellent and good value $24. Service was good and it was a cool spot. Get a reservation because the wait was very long. read more

Came here while we were on vacation in Ormond Beach. Despite the wait to get in and to get the food, I would say it's worth it. We got the riptide shrimp with hang 10 sauce. The sauce was unique, but paired very well with the shrimp. My friend got a fish platter and I got the Maypory Garlic Shrimp. I'd say this is some of the best pasta I've ever had, and my friend really liked the fish and hushpuppies. I also got a pina colada and a drink called Mermaid Lemonade. The colada is one of the better pina coladas I've ever had. The lemonade was on the heavier side of alcohol, so I personally didn't care for it. Overall, I would highly recommend this place! Prices were spot on with a beachside restaurant. Serving sizes were large. I had the beach cakes. Amazing. Husband had the lobster mac and cheese. Amazing. Appetizers potato wheels were very good. My two sons had burgers, they were thick juicy patties. Daughter had a kids pasta. $12. They had a live musician, he was phenomenal. Definitely recommend and will go back. read more

Food was delicious. We were a large group and everyone enjoyed everything. The standout was the rum sauce on ahi tuna. It was superb!!! The ribs and steak tips were also delicious!!! The live music was great. The musician was talented and the speakers in the restaurant carried it throughout the whole place. The service was fantastic. Lisa took great care of us. From quick service to friendly talk and helpful in every way. We celebrated a birthday and she was great bringing out a treat for the birthday girl. Food was good everything was going great until some old burn out named RICK STEFFEN shows up and plays the worst music I've ever heard in my life. We somewhat expected a wait time considering it was Saturday night at 6 PM. The hostess told us 40 minutes, and just under 40 minutes later we were ushered to our table. Our waiter was friendly and fast. We had a dozen oysters that were good size and very fresh taste. After that our meals came out promptly, ride, jumbo shrimp, and garlic shrimp on fettuccine. This place was highly reviewed by a friend so we had to try it. Tried to get in several spots but there was no parking, or at least it was full on the beach side and seemed like no spots on the condo side. We finally got there one night and found a spot, and was told a 30 min wait. 12 mins later we were seated inside, in front of a huge projector showing body surfing. The waitress seemed pissed the entire time, and I think it was because she was running around non stop. Every refill or other request took 5 mins and then dessert was a 10-15 min wait. I got the hurricane Mac n cheese and it was amazing. I think 90% of people got crab legs so that's probably the thing to get. We tried the key lime pie and it was terrible. A bit of a mixed bag but I would try it again. read more

We've been customers of riptides for many many years. It's always been a family favorite, but last nights dinner was not worth the money we paid. We got two of the margarita buckets at $21 a pop, and the price was not listed on the menu. I had a mediocre burger that was $19.50 plus a $3 gluten free bun charge and one side. My husband's meal was a flounder platter that was $28 that came with 2 sides. My daughter ordered yellow rice that was so crunchy she couldn't eat it. I don't think I've ever left a review for any restaurant, but the quality has gone downhill, especially for the whopping $136 bill we ended up with. They also counted my 1 year old son that didn't get food as a customer so they could charge the large party tip surcharge. It was so hot in the restaurant that we might as well have been seated outside. The waiter was nice and took care of us, but this is likely our last trip to this restaurant, and we hate that so much! read more

I came with my mother and we split two appetizers, the portions were very large! The two apps were enough for us and then some. The food tasted great, especially the jerk chicken on the salad!! Their drink menu was also very large so I'm thinking of returning for drinks some night soon. There was plenty of outdoor and indoor seating and everything was very clean. They also had a daily surf report which I thought was cute. Our waiter was very nice and so was the host, he didn't miss a beat. Wonderful service, the food was outstanding! The best mahi I have ever had. The chef is to be commended on the taste and presentation of each dish we enjoyed. The peel and eat shrimp, the stuffed grouper and the mahi with coconut rice. Five stars isn't enough! A must if in the area. read more

My family ate here on vacation. We came for the advertised live music, no live music on the weekends, that wasn't advertised, but we decided to give them a try anyhow. There was 9 of us and we were seated on the patio. We quickly realized we were sitting right next to the railing where every smoker in the resturaunt came to lean on to have a cigarette. Being non-smokers and having small children with us we asked to be seated inside. The waiter acted offended, told us we would have a long wait and then refused to bring us our drinks while we waited, guess he didn't want to help us if our tip went to another section... After a long period of time with no drinks and rude service we told him we'd just leave. He begged us to stay and changed his tune a little bit. We decided to stay on the patio. Our waiter seemed to go out of his way to help the other people in the section very pleasently. Anything we asked for from him seemed to be a burden. Really put a damper on that night of our vacation. The music playing was annoying only because one song would be smooth reggae, the next heavy techno, this pattern repeated the whole evening. We visit Riptides every time we come down. So atleast once a year or more. Amazing service! They are always so nice and if anything is wrong they are great about fixing it! Now I will say the steak tenderloin tips, which we usually get, were now good this last time. They were way over marinated and so sweet they made me sick to my stomach. Unfortunately they tried another batch and it was just as bad. It gave me severe heartburn almost immediately which has never happened before. The manager even asked to try a piece of the steak and he agreed it was definitely not what it usually tastes like and apologized. I ended up just eating baked potatoes. But they fixed the bill which was very kind of them. And the waitress was very apologetic and definitely worked her a** off to make sure we were taken care of. Overall it's still a great place to eat, especially for unlimited crab. And next time we go I'll just get a new York strip! read more

my husband and i tried this restaurant for the first time this past weekend. He wanted seafood. Let's start by saying I'm the kind of person that normally sticks to what I know is good and doesnt really like to venture out. However from the pleasant greeting at the door to the atomsphere, to the food and service this place gets five stars! Very very clean, very nice personable staff there wasnt live music that night but they had great reggae playing and apparently do have live music on weekend,so we're going back for that too! The server recommended the appatizer spring rolls..WOW they were good. Then I ordered fish tacos with sweet potato fries with some rip tide sauce to dip in ....yum, which were so delicious and my husband mahi mahi which he enjoyed also. Every thing was excellent. Riptide's Raw Bar and Grill is a true gem! I had the pleasure of trying their coconut shrimp, and it was absolutely divine. The shrimp were crispy and golden, with the perfect balance of sweetness from the coconut. Paired with a tangy sweet mustard and pineapple sauce, it was a mouthwatering combination that left me wanting more. The pineapple rice was another highlight - fluffy, flavorful, and the touch of pineapple added just the right amount of sweetness to complement the other dishes. The plantains were delicious as well, perfectly fried and slightly caramelized. Service was great to our waiter was very attentive and nice. Lastly, the hush puppies were deep-fried to golden perfection - crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Every dish was expertly prepared and packed with flavor. Highly recommend! read more

We ordered the Key West Lime Pasta which was excellent and gave a large serving including vegetables and cole slaw which had equally large servings. A grouper sandwich which was ordered Caribbean style which gave the nice piece of fish a good flavor and would probably ask for extra Caribbean sauce next visit. Our land lover ordered the cheese steak which was OK, but that is what you get when you order from the land when you are on the beach. We could see a huge volcano brownie which was ordered at a table next to us and there were some very interesting drinks on the menu which we will need to designate a driver for a future visit. read more

Love this place. I was there with my family. And you know what's funny. I was there that same night the Jason G. Guy was there that gave them such a bad review. You should be ashamed of yourself Jason G. You were obviously drunk and you were swearing and cursing in front of my kids and calling the manager a Dick. I even talked to that manager when he stopped by my table to see how everything was. I told him if I was him, I would have punched you in the face. By the way. Why would you be that drunk if your taking your wife out for a anniversary??? That place was great. Great food great service. The wait was about a half hour but worth every minute of it. We had lunch here today, after having had dinner Thursday night. We were so impressed with the raw oysters, we wanted to share with our family. We were fortunate to have Christian as our waiter again. He has impressed us with his friendly and enthusiastic service. When I asked about a local beer they no longer serve, he suggested similar local brews. His descriptions and recommendation were spot-on. We have never had a disappointing visit here. The atmosphere is friendly and laid-back without being a "beach dive." Prices are reasonable and the house wines, at least the Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, are excellent values. EXCELLENT! By far the best restaurant we have been to in Ormand Beach. Need a GLUTEN FREE option? Go here. The wait is worth it. Ms. Erin was our server and she was absolutely amazing. Not only did she care about me, but she also checked on me many times just to make sure I was feeling okay and liked my food. They DO HAVE a gluten-free menu! It is short, but it is wonderful. They will take good care of you. I would suggest you go early so the wait will not be as long. We went at 4:45 and only waited about 15 minutes. As we were leaving the line was much longer. Very disappointed in the overall food quality here. Not worth the trip. I ordered the black bean soup and was served what appeared to be a plain can of black beans that was maybe microwaved for a minute or two. No flavor or spices or anything resembling "soup" to be heard or tasted of. Drinks were typical sugary alcoholic beverages, nothing good or bad about them. Service was fine. The server seemed apologetic when I complained about the soup and was willing to substitute it with something else. Though as a vegetarian I had very few other options on the menu. Saw a sign being flown today and decided to give them a call. Asked some people around and they said they are good. Good is an understatement for this restaurant...It was GREAT! My wife and I both had the all you can eat crab legs. They were the best we have ever had. It was expensive but we are on vacation! Our waitress was great and very attentive! And Donald was excellent on his knowlege of craft beers as well! I had the Tequila Lime Grouper & my husband had the Key West Shrimp Pasta, which actually had nice size shrimp & at least a dozen! Great little beach spot. Live music was great. Could be considered a bit loud. Not exactly the place to go if you're looking for a quiet night. But thats boring, so lets get weird. Food was pretty good. Dinner portions were generous. Prices are reasonable, but perhaps a dollar or 2 more then typical. Having a big restaurant, with all amenities and live music isnt cheap.
