We were visiting Daytona Beach for the day and had one goal for lunch: Eat seafood and drink a fruity cocktail by the beach. Crabby Joe's took it one step further and had us dining right over the water! We discovered this place through a vlog, and I'm so glad we did. Everything here was fantastic, from the friendly staff to the great food. There's a free parking lot right in front of the restaurant, so you don't have to worry about paying or making a far trek. The bar was under construction during the time of our visit, but still had a great limited menu. I went with the Calypso Cooler, a pineapple/orange refreshing drink! They have a lot of different options for lunch, but I was feeling shrimp, and felt like I made the right choice. It was super crispy, and the fries were seasoned so well! We loved this joint! Being from the middle of the state, I don't get to see the ocean all that often, so getting out to the coast is a special time for me, something that I like to make happen at least a couple of times a year. This time around it was time to get out to the Atlantic and drive down the A1A for a ways to take in the ocean air and the endless horizon... and find something good to eat as well. Finding a place that actually has an ocean view is not easy, sadly. You would think there would be more places in the Daytona/Ormond/Flagler Beach area, but there really aren't. Condos being on the beach has killed that scene for a good part, which is very sad. However, there are a couple of places still available... and one of them is Crabby Joe's. Situated out on the end of a pier, Crabby Joe's is a breezy eatery where you can grab some deep fried goodness and a beer if you like. I went for the fish and chips this time around, and I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer amount of fish that came with the dish. The fish was excellent, and the chips hit the spot as well. Our service was solid as well, as our drinks were kept filled and we were checked on reasonably well. We really enjoyed our dinner at Crabby Joe's! First, you absolutely cannot beat the views - right over the ocean, beautiful breezes (seating at the rail too which we'll try next time!). We even watched a launch from Kennedy Space Center - excellent viewing. We started out with conch fritters - quite good but would have liked a little more conch meat. The Cajun peel 'n eat shrimp were really delicious! We tried both the Calypso Cooler and the Dirty Banana - both good drinks (dirty banana was dessert!). Our server was great - checked back often and took good care of us. We had crab cakes, royal red shrimp scampi (delicious but quite rich!) and royal red steamer platter. Amazing place on the ocean!! We saw dolphins surfacing while standing on the deck while waiting for our food. Our waitress was nice and chill. The Good: Location, out in the ocean The Bad: Relatively small venue where you will have to wait for a table and pay a little more for the ocean view. The Ugly: Flat Beer. Maybe that's why the price was cheap This place was nearly wiped out by a hurricane that went through the area. But they survived and are back in business. I recommend you get there early (5pm at latest) or you will be waiting. We had what looked like a 12-oz beer for $4.00 and Ice Tea for 3$. I'll take the beer thank you. Due to the storm you could feel the floor shake a little. Again - just an exceptional weather. Pier is strong. But what a great experience. Cool staff. Small but great beer on tap offering. My family loves to go to Crabby Joe's when they're in town. I tend to forget what a great local spot it is. On the water, delicious food-varying from fried yummies to more refined entrees. The servers are always friendly and kind. I watched one gently save a pigeon who accidentally got caught inside the restaurant and take it safely outside. It is an outdoor restaurant but when it's windy and rainy, like it was today, they have plastic windows covers. They also have netting. Always a fun experience. read more

My husband's shrimp and grits was okay. However he did not get enough grits in his portion size. I've never seen a restaurant to have the shrimp overpower the entire meal. Our waitress tried to behave like she was very friendly and helpful. However, she never cleaned off our table. She also rushed us with the bill several times. I'm a very good tipper and I could have done better if she had treated us right. We're a little disappointed. The bill was over $100. She's lucky that she even got a tip! My tip was mediocre for a reason. Because the service was mediocre. The salmon that I had seemed to be reasonable, but I had a whole bunch of noodles and sauce which I wanted because I asked for it. I expected a different type of flavor from the sauce. Overall, I probably would not go back. There were bugs inside and we tried to escape that from not eating outside. The two pieces of fish I had on my plate were much more bigger than I had ever imagined. It was flaky. It was very good. The drinks were just the service was good. The ambience was really nice. Since reopening, closing and reopening again as a local we have worked at supporting this facility, bad food, bad drinks and rude employees at times but I am done. Walked in this afternoon to get a drink and dinner. Bar is under construction so they have a counter set up to serve drinks but no seats for anyone drinking. I asked for a table then and she said for one? You will have to wait at least 30 to 45 minutes to ensure larger tables of 4 or more are served first really?! I live next door and a regular and older. Visited today for my birthday and had a great visit. This classic little joint gets taken out during every hurricane, but I'm so grateful they keep rebuilding. While you eat, you can enjoy the ocean view and watch the waves crash between the boards below your feet. The gator bites are some of the best in the area, as well as the cheese curds. The crab and shrimp boil (for one!) easily served everyone at our table a few tastes and I still wasn't able to finish it all! My husband noted that the fried fish was a little mushy, and he wished he had ordered something more fresh. Overall, you can't beat this view. This review has been in the making for a while as Hurricane Ian damaged Crabby Joe's Pier fairly extensively which led to a total shut down for almost 2 years I believe! They have finally reopened and from the the looks and food quality: they have definitely improved (the server shared that the larger kitchen allows for better food prep and options etc). We ordered a range of dishes from steamed red shrimp (absolutely delicious and reasonably priced). Blackened fish tacos with side of veggies and they were yummy! Mahi Tacos with sweet potato fries and mahi was very fresh and good portions too! Lastly their fish & chips have also improved and it tasted like proper fish & chips! Of course the number one reason to visit is the "over the water Pier view and seating"! Crabby Joe's just exudes vacation/chill mode even for an afternoon lunch! The wait was not too long for a Thursday night at 6:30 pm. The weather was perfect! We got the Ahi Tuna tacos! They were delicious! We also got the coconut shrimp with a pineapple sauce which I liked but my husband did not. My son got chicken tenders and fries because what else do kids eat??? But this time, he finished them!
