The only reason I gave this restaurant 2 stars is because the food was edible. What makes this experience so disappointing is that we have been coming to this restaurant for many years. And when I say many years, we were here in the 70's when it was the Inlet Harbor Grill and every year after up to last night. We have supported this place, recommended it, and continued coming back despite the fact that there was almost always a wait. After our experience last night, we will never return. We arrived around 6:00 p.m. during the peak summer season and were shocked to find the restaurant nearly empty. Despite this, we were initially told they could not seat us. We even offered to split our group up and sit in separate booths. Eventually, they somehow managed to find two tables they could push together. By pushing those two tables together, we were then considered a "large party" and charged an automatic 22% gratuity. This policy was not clearly posted anywhere that we saw. An 18% gratuity for large parties is customary, but 22% is excessive. The restaurant was also offering 50% off bottles of wine, yet we were charged the 22% gratuity based on the full, undiscounted price of the bottle. Our server did not even open the bottle or pour the first glass. The most disappointing part of the entire evening was our interaction with the manager, Bobbie. In all the years we have been dining out, I cannot remember ever being treated so rudely by a restaurant manager. We tried to explain our concerns, but she would not allow us to speak. She continuously talked over us and showed absolutely no interest in listening to longtime customers. The entire situation left us with the strong impression that they were unwilling to seat us until they could arrange the tables in a way that classified us as a large party and guaranteed the 22% gratuity. We did not walk in looking for a problem. We were longtime customers who came in expecting another enjoyable dinner at a restaurant we had supported for years. Instead, we left disappointed, frustrated, and certain that we will never return. When we arrived, we could not understand why a restaurant that had always been busy was nearly empty at 6:00 p.m. during the peak summer months. We had paella and rock shrimp dinners also had the shrimp and crab dip appetizer with chips. Everything was warm tasted very good. Had a good flavor. We had a very large crowd last moment and our waiter is probably the best waitress I have ever had. She handled a large crowd flawlessly. The place was pretty quiet until we got there. We had lots of fun and would definitely return. We were inside and outside they were playing lots of live music and it sounded wonderful. My fiancé and I were drinking painkillers which I didn't see on the menu, but our waitress said that she could make them for us while I'm here to tell you they were excellent and I highly recommend them. We had a good meal at Off the Hook. The house smoked brisket was great and served in a taco worked well. The trigger fish was cooked perfectly and seasoned just enough so it was not too spicy. Our waitress was great and was there right when we needed her. My only criticism is that the hostess was moving a bit slow and had an attitude. There were at least 6 clean tables open, no line, and she was very slow to get people seated. Used to be my favorite place. Food was SO late (about an hour to get our food) and cold. We had a party of 8 on an early Thursday 5:00 pm sitting. Party of 10 came in 30 min after us and got served way ahead of us. Same thing for another party of four after us getting served way first. Then the real kicker was the automatic tip of 24+% on our bill already included - you might not see it (if you don't calculate it yourself you would never know it's 24%). Waiter was just fine but not an automatic 24% fine! Then an additional 3% if you use a credit card. Manager knocked 15% off our bill for the slow service and gave us some extra warm fries (too late), but that didn't really fix things, especially my cold and tiny grouper sandwich that I didn't eat. I loved the patio and island vibes at this restaurant! The menu had good variety, I got the House Salad with Grouper on top which was tasty. If you sit on the patio, WATCH OUT FOR NO SEE UMS. We stopped in for a late lunch and really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere overlooking the inlet--it was the perfect spot to unwind. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. We tried the crab and shrimp dip, which was definitely different than expected--it had more of a chowder-like consistency--but the flavor was great and surprisingly comforting. The good, bad and ugly -- Good: we were a group of 12 no small children arriving ~5:30 pm mid-week with practically no wait. Nice decor. Server tried his best to make this a good experience but obviously the kitchen did not cooperate AND he had, we think, 3-4 large parties during the timeframe of ours. Bad: Food prep and arrival -- first meal arrived in a reasonable amount of time but it was 20+ minutes before arrival of the last. Each meal arrived individually and piece-meal with sides arriving separately and in many cases the wrong side while some sides never arrived for which we gave up on. A few entrees were reportedly good while others were bad -- either lacking flavor or cold. Example: rock shrimp (the last entree which arrived 20 minutes after the first) was cold and dry, drawn butter cold as were the onion rings which were also way over cooked. Ugly: we expected auto added tip charge, but at 30%+ felt it was excessive on top of the amount charged for the sub-mediocre food prep and sporadic delivery. Will not return nor recommend. read more

Recently went to grab a cocktail and drinks as a peaceful end to a great day at the beach. We came in around 4 and were seated quickly out back by the water. We were greeted quickly and shown the specials for the day. The waited had little ideas about what to get and the beer options were slim beyond regular colors light or miller light and the like. He made no other drink suggestions and we never saw a drink menu, which I thought was very odd because they are a waterside bar and restaurant. Our drinks were cold, the calamari and fish tacos were good, so we were overall happy. The nice surprise was the live music. Two ladies set up and we actually stayed longer to listen. This place has been hit or miss since the new owners took over from the original Inlet Harbor. But tonight took the prize. We tried to place a take out order and the receptionist said they were too busy and said it might take 45 minutes. Before I had a chance to say ok, she said they wouldn't take the order. When I expressed my shock, she passed me off to a "manager", who was even more rude and he said that "it's the new policy" that if there's more than a 20 minute wait they aren't taking any take out orders. We spent a nice morning at the beach. This is near, just three minutes from the inlet park. We love the fresh calamari. The option to seat outside along the river or a nice clean quiet inside seating. Our waitress was very attentive always checking in on us. We started with the calamari, the a fish and chips meal it included fries and onion rings with coleslaw . All was cooked clean and fresh tasting.
