She took our drink order which was house margaritas on the rocks with salt. She promptly delivered our drinks and took our order. My husband ordered the shrimp Po Boy with fries. I ordered the fried shrimp basket which comes with coleslaw, hush puppies and I upgraded my fries to onion rings. Our food was served quickly. My shrimp was delicious, it was big, plump and juicy!! This is a cute little dive bar on A1A on the north end of Ormond Beach. Our server was Leah. She was kind, helpful and a general pleasure to interact with. We had an impromptu stop in to Lagerheads tonight and have to say, PLEASANTLY surprised! First, staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Second, food was on point. Before we returned to South Florida, my wife and I had lunch with my Mom at Lagerheads, which is situated right across from the Atlantic Ocean on A1A. My Mom loves this place because it's down the street from her house so she can walk to it. So, we gave this place a go. Our experience was decent. Our server was great. He did his best to ensure we had drinks and what we needed per what we ordered. The Mai Tai, Bloody Mary, and the Floridian Dream were delicious. And we had waters at our table refilled promptly. The kitchen was hit or miss with the orders. Our stepson ordered a fried chicken sandwich and received a fish sandwich instead, which the server sent back and ensured the right order was done. My wife is celiac and ordered the grouper Caesar salad, being ensured that there wasn't anything touched by gluten; there were croutons in the salad. While we were able to remove them without my wife getting glutened, that was still disconcerting. That wasn't the fault of the server who did his best to correct things. On the other side of the coin, the wings were incredibly tantalizing, which I enjoyed with hot sauce and blue cheese. The gator po'boy was decent, a little chewy. The fries were wicked good though. Parking is found at the front of the property mostly, which fortunately we found a spot before the restaurant became too busy. During peak hours, it can be a challenge unless you are within walking distance of where you live. Plus being on A1A, you have to ensure you are not at the mercy of oncoming traffic. Overall, I would come back. Lagerheads is a good, local spot to get some good grub. read more

This is exactly the beach bar you want near your house. Great view. Nightly music. And the food is very good. I've had much of the menu and the lager melt is my favorite. The shrimp a close second. Last night my wife and went to Lagerhead's for a dinner, a beer and music! This is a great spot for music with an Ocean view. We split a pound of peel and eat shrimp as an appitzer. They really know how to to cook shrimp, they always come our perfect. I almost always get the grouper rueban with sweet potato frys. Last night's sandwich was perfect. They are also known for the meatloaf from the locals, but I tend to stick with seafood. The music last night was a sax player. He was really good, had backing tracks, but the sax sounded smooth. I got the peel and eat shrimp, 1 pound. I ate at least 4 times on these! They were great, perfectly cooked large shrimp. Hubby got a fish sandwich that was also very good. We went during Bike Week and it was Saturday around 4pm. We were worried but we got parking and we got in. We sat at the indoor bar. We were astonished at the staffing and service that was prepared for the crowds. A group came in who ordered 22 lemon drops and 1 whisky shot and they were served promptly. We had such a great meal, and the service was spectacular! Our server, Barb was so nice, so friendly, and so helpful. COLD, COLD tap beer!!! Was perfect. We started with Gator bites. I'm usually not a huge fan since most people overcook them and they become a bad-tasting rubber band. These were perfect. Spiced well, not overdone. Good job. I would order these again. I had fish and chips as I always do when trying new places. I am a fish-and-chip snob. No problem on sending back bad fish. This order was MASSIVE. Haddock was cooked perfectly, nice thin crust. And sooooo much food. A couple of hush puppies that to me were surprisingly great. Once again, I'm not a fan of most hush puppies because they are dry, mealy, and just not good,...WOW. so flavorful Perfect fries, enough said. And from what wifey said, the coleslaw was..mmmmmmmm yummy. I'll take her word for it, I was too stuffed to try it. Wifey had Lagerheads Mixed Basket Haddock, shrimp, oysters and clam strips. We happened by on a Monday, early afternoon. Although there were few patrons, the wait staff was busily preparing the evening rush. Our server was delightful and knowledgeable about the menu. My wife chose the steamed crab dinner while I ordered the mixed seafood platter. Both entrees were prepared efficiently and were both plentiful and delicious. Lovely little spot right across from the beach, just a few minutes away from the dog park that I go to with my pup every weekend. They were so friendly and brought my dog a bowl of water when we sat down. There was live music outside by a gentleman who is there most weekends and he was able to take requests. The shrimp po boy was excellent, the sweet potato fries were just OK. It was quite windy out and the staff was super patient and helpful when people lost their menus to the wind. A family member who lives in Ormond Beach kept raving about Lagerheads and was only too happy to bring us there and treat us to lunch. The pace was really busy when we arrived at noon. Parking was a challenge during the daytime so I can only assume it gets worse at night. This is a casual beach bar and we ate outside. It was a beautiful day with the sun shining brightly and a nice view of the ocean across the street. As mentioned, it was busy and service was a little slow but our waitress was friendly and efficient. The fried fish sandwich was recommended so that was what I ordered. I was a bit perplexed when this VERY large piece of fish arrived on a hoagie roll hiding greenery and tomatoes. Regulars must have a trick to eat this. I eventually gave up trying to eat it like a sandwich and just ate it with my fork so I didn't make a mess. This massive sandwich was accompanied by onion rings. There was a good amount of food for the money. My only disappointment was that it was really greasy. Even our host noticed it was not the usual quality. I'm guessing that because of the big crowd, they may have put too much in the fryer at once, cooling the fat and losing the crispiness. The quantity was great but the quality was off. This spot is pretty much the only outdoor bar on the beach in Ormond so it's a great place to hang on a sunny weekend afternoon. They had live music when we went on a Saturday and the place was packed. Parking can be a challenge so you'll need to drive around a bit to find a spot if there's not one directly out front. The inside is small, but there's a bar you can post up at, or just grab a table outside to enjoy the views. One thing to note here is this is a dive bar/restaurant - you're going to get dive bar food & drink options for dive bar prices. If you're looking for a family fish camp or river grill type vibe, this isn't it so best to set your expectations before visiting :) read more
