You could literally smell the pickled onion on your sweat the next day after eating one of these bad boys. Ladies beware. -They stayed open real late and opened early, so even when their beer cooler locked up at midnight (blue laws), you could always wait it out till 6 the next morning. Well worth the wait, since you would also arrive in time to indulge in a McDonald's McGriddle next door. [The McGriddle is a breakfast sandwich where the 'bread' is composed of pancakes, literally injected with synthesized butter and maple syrup.] -Trips to this place among people I knew resulted in at least one DUI, my car transmission almost being destroyed when Kevin threw my car into reverse along Rt. 7, and Ethan getting banned for trying to start a fistfight there, then re-banned and almost arrested for showing up again...or so the story goes. It is WAY more than just a convenience store, although it is that, as well They have the best beer selection around--an entire walk in cooler with a broad selection of beers from all over. Wowser! Their deli has great food either cooked to order or serve-yourself hot dishes like chili and Mac and Cheese. After hours for the deli, you can still get a nice set of selections, including my favorite--their deviled eggs. And pretty soon, the serve-yourself creemee machines will be up and running for the season. Did I mention their specials? Including the annual lobster boil? Oh, and they were the first gas station in the Valley to offer ethanol-free gas. Plus, they give back a percentage of gas sales to a local charity each month. The VG is truly a gem!
