Cute and super friendly store with great selection of local beers, jams, and syrup. I'll try the pizza next time we're in town.

Our favorites are the Palmer, sliced turkey and bacon with a pesto mayo, and I absolutely love the chicken patties on a sub and even took a picture for my review. Lasagne and Baked ZIti from the hot case are also winter staples, and my kid loves the chicken fingers and hot dogs. I should not forget to mention the bacon corn chowder, or the fall apple crisp. I know most Vermont spots have incredible coffee, and VGM is no exception. I want to scream at all the cars waiting at the Dunkin on Rt 7, there's much better coffee and breakfast sandwiches, freshly made to order just a moment away!! The Shack that is set up in the summer is a grill spot for amazing burgers and dogs and fries... deli and cold salads inside, hot case for soups and hot dishes, and the outdoor shack is seasonal but seriously insanely good burgers. Perfect family dinner spot in the summer, we get our grill items outside and creemees inside to enjoy at the gazebo on the village green. Local bakeries supply the sweets but they also have all the candy staples, my favorite are always peach rings, and the new Reese's Take 5, and sweet spicy chili Doritos. Feels like family when I'm there so I always request my favorites anyways. Make this your new favorite lunch spot too!!!

I walked into Hannaford expecting a quick, normal trip--grab a drink, pay, and leave. Nothing…read morecomplicated. But somehow, that simple plan turned into one of the most unnecessarily frustrating shopping experiences I've had in a while. It wasn't the store layout, or the lines, or even the prices overall--it was the self-checkout situation that managed to mess up something as small as 88 cents and still leave a bad impression. So there I was at the self-checkout, scanning my items like usual. Everything seemed fine at first. The machine did its little beeps, the total popped up, and I paid without thinking much of it. But afterward, I noticed the total didn't match what I expected. At first I thought maybe I misread a price or grabbed the wrong item--but nope. After actually checking the receipt, there it was: an extra 88 cents that didn't make any sense. Now, 88 cents isn't life-changing money, obviously. But that's not really the point. It's the fact that the system--this supposedly efficient, modern, "convenient" self-checkout robot--managed to get something so basic wrong. And there's no easy way to question it in the moment unless you want to call someone over and hold up the whole line. So you either let it go or deal with the awkward process of proving a machine messed up. What makes it worse is how avoidable it feels. That 88 cents could've gone toward something else--like literally another drink. That's the annoying part. It's not just "oh well, small mistake." It's the fact that I walked out knowing I paid for something I didn't actually get, and that small difference could've added up to something tangible, even if it's just a second bottle or can. And honestly, these self-checkout systems are supposed to make things smoother, but moments like this do the opposite. Instead of speeding things up, they shift all the responsibility onto the customer while still being prone to errors. If a cashier made that mistake, at least there's a clear person to talk to. When it's a machine, it just feels like you're arguing with a wall. It also makes you wonder how often this kind of thing happens. If I noticed 88 cents, how many people don't notice? Those tiny amounts can add up over time, and it starts to feel less like a one-time glitch and more like a system that isn't as reliable as it should be. Even if it's unintentional, it's still frustrating from a customer perspective. In the end, it's not about the money--it's about the experience. A quick stop turned into irritation over something that shouldn't have happened in the first place. And yeah, it sticks with you more than it should, because it's such an easy thing to get right. All I wanted was my drink, and instead I left thinking about how I could've had another one if the system had just worked properly. Ps im never shopping here again( I mean I will but you get the point)

It might be that small town New England feel to it, where everyone in town knows each other, as indicated by the cashiers always so friendly and striking up meaningful small talk with all their customers. Catch us Middlebury College students here often for buying food for when the school doesn't feed us (Thanksgiving 2015 was my first one without family but still only my second most miserable Thanksgiving...) or when their overpriced student stores don't stock what we need (especially fruit). Thank goodness this place is around, it is definitely a supermarket. I always get worried when these small towns try to support local businesses as much as possible, but thankfully this supermarket chain is around. (Local businesses are definitely a good thing though! I know I sound awful, forgive me!) It seems that Middlebury town has what I need for the most part. I have so many memories already with this market. It's closer than Hannaford's, so best bet I'm never going there by foot when I can come here.

For example, I paid two bucks for a huge zucchini I would probably have paid 5 dollars for at my local whole foods. Overall the prices seemed like prices I would see at any other shop. I guess they have to service their community. It's surprising because small towns like these often take advantage of the tourists and jack up the prices. THey have a decent selection of prepackaged foods and a small area for souvenirs. I wouldn't trust the deli though, it looked dirty and dank. It didn't seem like they offered very much anyway. Their meats were also a bit questionable but I wasn't on the prowl for any except pre-packaged deli meat. The staff were fine; what more can you expect from a cashier. Would come back but only because the choices are limited
