The name changed but the service has always been phenomenal! The dentists here actually CARE and they always make everything as affordable as possible. I was blessed to participate in a free event with my Daughter and Dr. kimball and Yani took care of me so well! I've had other dentists make me feel bad about my oral health, but at Risas they make you feel so comfortable and accepted. They also took great care of my scared teenage daughter, Dr. kimball was so patient, kind and understanding, explaining every step of the way. I literally drive in from CA just to come here because it's so affordable and amazing. With the costs in California I can get a vacation AND dental work here. Normally I wouldn't go about leaving a review but I genuinely hope this gets used as a training opportunity: Originally my appointment was on 6/3 (scheduled 2 weeks out) but a car crashed into the electrical box causing the whole block to lose power about 15-30 min before my appointment . I called the next morning and they said they could fit me in 4 weeks from then for a follow up. Problem: it felt like I had a really bad infection. So I walked in the next day. I told the front desk what happened- she said there was going to be a bit of a wait. Understood. An hour in (I'm the only one in the waiting room crying from pain) and my fiancé asked her how much longer. Her response: we have other appointments. I get that. But I wouldn't have done an emergency walk in if our appt wasn't canceled (out of their control- but still) They get me back 10 minutes later- took a few hand held X-rays of my teeth, then dentist comes in. He took the blunt end of a metal tool and tapped on my teeth to confirm how badly they hurt in two parts. Told me I had an infection in the root canal , and that my back tooth had pretty bad decay- so they referred me to endo. First concern- I was already crying in the chair from pain and he tried to prescribe Motrin and amoxicillin. I had to ask for something stronger - not a huge concern, but still. Second concern- the endodontics place they referred me to was scheduling out a month. I called 3 locations to try and get something sooner. Third concern- i got a second opinion at ultra dental. Turns out i had an infection going up and into my sinus cavity and the back tooth had a cavity under the crown and on the nerve. They got me in same day for evaluation and offered same day service when I called to schedule extractions. I also learned that redoing a root canal can increase chances of failure a 2nd time. I don't know what I would've done if I didn't go to ultra. I work in customer service and am pretty patient, but this time around- risas really let me down and i didn't feel a sense of urgency or care when it came to getting treatment. Even though ive had good past experiences with risas- this experience left such a bad taste in my mouth i wont be returning. read more

Was recommended to this location by a friend. The patient portal to schedule and create an account doesn't work. Tried calling during business hours. Was trying to give them a chance. I have helped design and talk patients through using portals. I understand that things happen. Was on hold for 30 minutes. No one ever answered. While on hold I was able to schedule online with another practice for the same date and time that I was trying to schedule at Risas & was able to complete the new patient paperwork while still waiting for this office to answer. The providers may be good, but if you can't get ahold of the office and the portal is non-functional how is anyone supposed to get treatment. read more

My daughter's confirmed appointment was "gone" when we arrived, and Karmen at the front desk was beyond rude -- rolling her eyes, arguing with me in front of other patients, and refusing to get the manager. Time and time again I had been told to avoid risas at all costs, despite that I went ahead did my treatment here. Not only did they mess up the look of my four bottom teeth and I mentioned it several times at my appointment only to be told it would be fixed over time. My final day with braces I inquired about it they said "Yeah, it doesn't look right, but that would only be fixed with a second a round of braces, but that'd be out of pocket cost". It's now been one week since I got my braces removed, and got my retainers. They mentioned I'd get half off my first replacement. Two days in I lost them, went back in today to pay for said replacement and they wouldn't even honor the offer. This place is as slimy as a business can get. I was told my apt was on a specific day I called the day before in the evening to confirm since I did not get a call from them! They told me I missed my apt that it was the day I called in the morning. I asked why did I not get a confirmation call or a call regarding "missed apt" as they put it. I was told my number was not on file to receive messages/ calls. I call BS they have everything they need! Then I was told there were no apts available and I was on a waiting list for an apt for Jan. I haven't heard from them so I call today and now I was told they could get me in, in February and scheduled an apt and I could "possibly" get a call if someone cancels!! I have not been back to this place since OCT when they first put my braces on. In the office they say bluntly if you don't pay you won't be seen well I'm on auto pay and I'm paying and I still can't be seen. This place is a joke! I asked them why do they take my money if they can't see me then to stop taking monthly payments and was told it doesn't work that way! They are also billing my insurance company too! In my situation it's not working even with me paying!! There is definitely room for improvement the system, workers, methods, thought processes or whatever you want to call it is broken! They don't care about their patients! They sure do want the money though! If you can save yourself a headache and not have to come here then I highly recommend to do your research! This is horrible especially for a well known company to be this grimy! They are 100 at fault and cannot take the responsibility in what they did in my situation! I scheduled an appointment for a dental emergency and was seen within hours of my call. The scheduler was super friendly and helpful. Upon my arrival I was greeted in the same manner. I then got a brief overview of how the process would go. I saw Dr. Paulson who was amazing. Not only did he not make me feel ashamed of my teeth, he explained everything thoroughly. Given the extensive treatment that I need he gave me a great resource to assist me. A week later I am here with him again to do some extractions. Again he is AMAZING. I get my ortho done at this location, I've had them in three years and still have gaps. If you need to reschedule an appointment for any reasons it will be two months out. The regular appointments are already spaced out too far so if you need to miss or if you are late you're screwed. They don't work with you, and they don't have reminders. This place is a joke. First off I want to say the workers there are great. Super friendly, super nice and they're doing a great job! But scheduling appointments at this place is a nightmare. I set up a braces appointment and got them on pretty quickly, they seemed very eager to do so. They booked me within 2 weeks of calling. But when I had to change my first adjustment appointment, they were booked until another month and a half later. They seem too overwhelmed right now to take new customers, and even though they charge way cheaper, it is not worth how much longer it might be to have to have braces on. Maybe it is due to covid, and I can't hate them for that, but I wish they were more transparent with how busy they were before I paid up front, in full, for these braces. I feel like I made a huge mistake getting these on with them, as I'm sure transferring would be just as much as a headache. And I was told I'd get these off in 2 years, but it's obviously going to be so much longer now. I've seen a couple other Yelp reviews regarding scheduling problems, so I'm not alone. You should definitely find another place, even if you have to pay more. read more

Horrible experience. Will not go back to this location and ruined the experience for me for all other Risas. Dentist stabbed my lip by accident and didn't even acknowledge or apologize for it. During the initial consultation they start off nice and give you water and try and make you feel at ease but as soon as you're in the chair things change. Was told I could have laughing gas to ease my anxiety only to be told right before the cleaning and couple fillings is about to begin that they can't do that it would take too long. Then when I requested further information they stated that it was actually because someone left on the gas last time by accident and so they ran out. Different answers to the same questions and very unprofessional. The dentist scolded me about my oral hygiene when I have taken care of my teeth. I may not floss everyday but I brush everyday, and he made it seem as if I had never brushed my teeth in my life. Was specially asking if I drank a lot of soda that may have caused this and I don't drink soda. The dentist would not explain what's going on or the order that things would happen without me specifically asking first and to top it off he pokes my lips with a sharp utensil on accident, I hope, and didn't acknowledge it or apologize whatsoever. The techs will pressure you to get Services beyond what your insurance would cover. Came in there knowing my insurance would cover an exam and a cleaning and they wanted to charge me $86 but didn't explain until much later when I was asking that it's because they wanted to do a deeper different type of cleaning my insurance would not cover. Do not go. While they are affordable in regards to other dentist practices they aren't THAT much cheaper to be belittled and treated without respect. I've even had treatments by Western Dental done better than this place and they have 1-2 star reviews. Would not return again. read more

This place and their staff meetings a complete big 0. They are the worst at working with paying customers when it comes to cancelling an appointment or cancelling a payment due to COVID finance impact. I called to cancel my payment in April 0f 2021 and they still took out money even when I told them I had no job, when I called their office which you never will get a specific office, always their customer service call center, and don't get me started on that. They call center reached out to the office, in which the doctor said NO we will not refund them the money I DID NOT AUTHORIZE and asked to be cancelled with advance notice. My son's treatment was suppose to be 9 months, his teeth looks like a monsters months, no advancement in treatment all this time. I have gone to other Orthos and they will not take my son due to the poor braces and treatment he's had. In order to stop treatment with them,they want me to pay an additional fee of $500 per patience. This has been ongoing with them over the past year all during COVID, they have no consideration for extenuating circumstances and what we are going through. I understand this is a for-profit company but I called them in advance since I wouldn't have the money for them to take, and them saying NO, like wow! Why would I continue to do business with such doctor. I will make sure to blast this place in a negative manner. read more

I originally began going here for my two children... ended up needing to get an emergency extraction done for myself, but drive all the way to a dentist in Scottsdale. (Thinking Scottsdale HAD to be better ) never felt welcomed or like they cared about my needs and wants as far as dental work. Just felt like I I was being taken advantage of... later learned that i was being charged waaaaay too much for what was needed. I decided to give doctor Paulson a call to do my extraction since he was so good with my 3 and 11 year old. Way better price and Dr. Paulson is so good at making you feel comfortable and relaxed. He shows great professionalism. And the entire staff at Risas West Gate from front to back was polite and professional and showed compassion. I have decided to make Doctor Paulson MY dentist! My appointment was cancelled because of a late arrival past the grace period so now my next adjustment is not for 2 months yes bad on my part for showing up late however I've been going to this place for more than a year and never have been late I just can't seem to understand how I couldn't have a rescheduled appointment sooner. I waited to be seen for about an hour. I was told that a assistant called in and this was the reason for the delay. The fact that Dr Davis and Rebekah were very apologetic made me feel better.
