She can make your lashes look very natural or dramatic. Maria gets booked a lot, if you cannot get an appointment with her try Elissa. Affordable, clean, and in a nice area of Boston. Plenty of parking meters closeby. I wanted to get my lashes done for my sister's wedding and keep them up for a while. They did a fantastic job. My only complaint (and this is really only something I notice) is after a week or so, the tips of the lashes kind of bend or curl to the side. I've never seen this done with any lashes I've had in the past. I'm not sure if it's the type of lash they use or if I'm doing something wrong with the upkeep. read more

Lashes and brows hooray! Elissa did my 'all out' lashes and brows before my engagement photos. She was very knowledgeable and walked me through the whole process before, during, and after the application (this was my first lash extension appointment). I received so many compliments on my brows and lashes! Even my makeup artist was impressed. As an 'all out' service I didn't feel my lashes looked fake or too over the top, they were just right esp. for photos. It is now 3 weeks later and I def. need a fill but I cant say it looks bad. I am excited to get a more natural look for everyday now that my photos are done. I was thrown a litttttttttle curve ball bc I did not know to avoid oil based products/how much your skin ritual could be affected to preserve the lashes but I quickly adjusted. I had a prior light volume lash set from another spa over a month ago so booked for a full all-out hybrid set based on having a lower retention than 40%. Maria, the lash artist, spent about an hour attaching extensions to my remaining healthy lashes as I experienced a lot of fall out from my prior set. She charged me accordingly for a max hybrid fill. Service - 5 Stars Experience - 4 Stars I'm so excited that lash lifts are becoming a thing now as more and more places are offering this service. Even a year ago when I started getting lash lifts, I would have to go all the way to Chinatown to get it done. I was beyond excited when I saw a Gilt City offer for a Lash Lift at Rise Beauty Studio. I looked on Yelp (of course) and saw great reviews and then checked their website and the design was so feminine and chic that of course, I had to purchase and book right away. I love that they have an online booking system so you can see when there's availability and with whom. I bought the offer on a Monday and booked the lash lift for that Wednesday. I also booked an eyebrow wax (full price no discount). The place is on Newbury so very easy to get to, and it's on the fourth floor. Unfortunately no elevators so not particularly handicap friendly FYI. The studio itself is so chic and cute, exactly what I'd expect from an Eyelash/beauty/skincare studio. I checked in, signed some papers and waited for my tech to call me. I had booked with Kiki (hopefully spelling that correctly) and she was fabulous! One thing to note is there are two rooms and I believe four beds in each of them. So don't expect to be in a fully private room. When I did my lash lift there was another customer next to me getting eyelash extensions. It's not something I would mind but just giving a heads up. The service itself was five stars, Kiki did an awesome job with my both my lashes and my eyebrows. Today is the day after my lash lift and they look oh so good with my mascara on! I also don't have the best eyebrows but she made them great and when I pencil them in they definitely look great. The four stars on the experience was due to most likely new business growing pains. There isn't anywhere to place your belongings, and if there is, no one told me about it. I had to put all my stuff on the floor which is not something I like to do. There were also conversations going on that I don't think were necessarily appropriate to have in front of customers. Nothing bad just talk about not having enough supplies and things of that nature that as a new customer I don't want to hear and think that's something that should be discussed in private. Again this is probably just because they're new so not faulting anyone. I definitely think this place is worth it, even without the gilt offer the eyelash lift is only $50 which is the most inexpensive price I've seen in Boston! Will be coming back for sure! read more

So I got my first ever eyelash lift. I was hoping that my natural lashes would look longer. I have naturally curly hair and lashes and didn't really care for the c-curl. Just looking for lifted slightly longer looking lashes. With that being said. My initial results were okay. As I looked more closely at home I realized that my lashes looked even shorter than before. They're also going in various directions. I waited two weeks to post this because I naively thought things would get better. My eyelashes were Definitely over processed. They are crunchy. And the curl is crazy. Mascara doesn't help. I'm tempted to honestly cut them off. I've message other lash spots to see what they can do. And no one is interested in fixing this mess. I can't speak to the lash services, but here's a long overdue review for the outstanding waxing services by Sasha! I saw her pretty regularly for Brazilians and eyebrow waxes, and she always does an amazing job. She's so sweet and makes the whole process as quick and painless as possible. She gave me great advice on how to stay smooth and what products to use (not pushing her own products like they do at EWC and most salons) and she's truly a friend to her clients. Plus, the prices are super affordable compared to most Newbury Street salons. I sent all of my friends to Sasha and received discounts for referrals. I wish I still lived in Boston just to keep seeing her because I've never had a better wax experience! P.S. Just a note that RISE is on the fourth floor and you must take the stairs. I recently went here for a full service day in preparation for an event + visit to my boyfriend. I got a Brazilian, Brow Wax + Shape and Lash Lift + Tint. So spent a pretty penny my first visit to the salon. Positives: The salon is very nice, and my girl was very sweet and made me very comfortable - and I gave her a great tip just for spending about 2 hours on all my services. Negatives: There is a lack of attention to detail. I left feeling a little lackluster and not properly "groomed." I recommend coming here if you you are not particular about the quality of the service. Recap on Services: For a Brazilian, it's suppose to be all or nothing - kind of hard to mess that up. The application of the wax was a bit messy and she took it off in small strips - like waxing eyebrows. My pain tolerance is high, but this would be agonizing for someone else. When my wax was complete I had still had a good amount of hair left inside the lady cave - imagine "The Lorax" from Dr Seuss. I went to another salon to have the rest of it taken completely off the next day, and was laughed at by the other wax lady. Embarrassment + paying for 2 Brazilians to get that clean look - not what I planned on doing this week. For the Brow-Shaping + Wax, didnt even look like my eyebrows were done. Besides a slight wax to take of some stray hairs and a trim - My eyebrows look exactly the same as the did when I walked in so there as no true shaping. I'm booking to go to another salon to get them done since they don't look recently groomed. For the Eyelash Tint + Lift. The tint looks great! However for the lash lift - one eye is perfectly fanned out lashes and the other looks like it had a rough night out. One looks carefully combed and separated, and the other has a cluster lashes bent to one side and grouped together. Beauty is all about symmetry, and this look will last 6-8 weeks so Im just going to have to deal with looking like one eye didn't show up to the party. I was hoping this salon could be my one stop shop. Brazilian, Lash Extensions, Brows and anything else they offer, but there is a lack of attention to detail that is really needed to feel comfortable coming back here. I probably should have said something before I left, but between a sore eye and needing to get back to the office, I didn't want to offend anyone and their work. read more

I came here after I bought a gilt city voucher for three brow shapings, but unfortunately do not think that I will be coming back to redeem the other two. I checked in when I arrived. The receptionist told the other woman waiting with me that her appointment would be delayed because the person she made the appointment with was running late, but she made no mention to me. My appointment also ended up being delayed by 15 minutes. When it was time for my appointment, the woman who waxed my eyebrows didn't speak much to me other than to try to sell me the eyebrow tinting and lifting services. I told her I wanted more of a clean up than a shaping and wanted to maintain my natural shape. I ended up getting an eyebrow tint as well. She never once checked in with me to show me what my eyebrows looked like. At the end, I ended up asking for a mirror and HATED my eyebrows. She tinted it way too dark and way too thick. When the tint finally faded, I realized that she got rid of the shape and curve of my eyebrows so I had almost just a straight line and she took most of the end off as well. It was awful and I had to go get them fixed somewhere else. Do not recommend. The discount with the voucher is not worth it. read more

Pros: Salon is nice inside, I like that they give you wipes prior to the session Cons: Extremely painful, it took about an hour for a "full Brazilian". However, it was an absolute amateur job. There were patches of hair left, i'm not talking one or two hairs here and there, but patches of hair left inside my lady bits, not to mention green wax. It wasn't until i got home to take a shower that i realized how poorly the Brazilian was executed, my white towel turned green from the wax residue i had to clean up/remove myself, and a lot more unattended areas were discovered. After moving to Boston I was disappointed with the options I had, it was either a cheap/bad job done in a nail salon or $300 for a full set. I have now gone to Rise Beauty 3 separate times and have had different level artists (you can choose) and every single time my lashes looked fabulous! Nicole, Gladys and Elissa are the ones I've worked with. Gladys is a master stylist and has very quick hands- but you really can't go wrong with any of them! I have been a regular customer at Rise since they first opened their doors and this review is long overdue! The location is perfect and their space is extremely comfortable, clean, and welcoming. I regularly get eyelash extensions and my brows done and I've never left unhappy. The employees and owners are all professional and totally in tune with superb customer service. I'm not super into big, glam lashes (but if you are this is still the place to go) and they always seem to give me a perfect, natural look. Bonus: the beds you lay down on for your appointment are like clouds and perfect for a nap :) Even if I end up getting my lashes taken off, I know I will continue to use Rise for my brows and their other incredible services. Don't waste your time and be wary of reviews - customers get a discount off their next service for posting a good yelp review - basically reviews are paid They're really rude to their customers and have the worst customer service (aka non existent). Sure they have nice wall decals and string lights (albeit one or two bulbs were out) but their attitude towards customers is trash If you want a cheaper service, then it could be a good fit. I now pay 50% more to avoid feeling the way I did when leaving Rise for my last time Why do I say this? Sequence of events last time I was there: -Got a full set and booked a fill 2-3 weeks after (based on descriptions on vagaro, the interface they use for customer appointment scheduling) -at time of fill, they couldn't do a fill due to lash loss -I said, "but vagaro says 2-3 weeks is when to schedule a fill" they made me show them the listing because they couldn't believe me lol and then insisted that I should focus on lash loss - and book a fill weekly - maybe they should make an edit to their info. Felt like I had to prove myself when in reality I'm their customer -I wanted to reschedule for a full set instead of a quickie given the circumstances. Got a quickie before and mascara did a better job than that. Not worth it IMO -they said OK sure -2 min later, said I'd be charged 50% of the service even if I rescheduled for a more expensive service. Ironic because would've been more inclined to come back and get the full set (more sustainable cash flow for them) if they were in the least bit accommodating -For ~3 services prior to this one I received a % off because my spin instructor was an ambassador for them. -at check out they said that was for the first time service (not true because I had gotten it many times) and my instructor was no longer an active brand ambassador...yet still on their website. -the worst part was my technician told me to text their manager (while she was obviously also texting her) to confirm I can get the discount. -was at that point a very forced service characterized by petty behavior by the folks at Rise Absolute trash read more

I have gone here a few times within the past year. I have never gotten a full set, for I always had lashes on from home (im a student so I travel back and forth to Boston). I saw on their Instagram that they were looking for a model to do a Classic All Out set. I slid up right away, and could not wait for my new lash set. Come to find out the girl that was doing my lashes was BRAND NEW, and I walked away after 4 HOURS, no joke (the ad said 3.5 hours btw) with nothing on my eyes. I had barely anything to show for my time. I was more inconvenienced by having to pull out the lashes she had just put on. Starting that very day, I had to wear maraca just so that it looked like I had something on my eyes. Overall, bad advertising, bad customer support, bad business. I absolutely adore RISE and have never had a single bad experience. I've been visiting the studio since Fall of 2017 for their lash services (extensions and refills) and I am back in their studio every month or so for touch-ups. The staff are so wonderful and they really care about their customers. They pay close attention to detail and have always gone above and beyond for me. Perfect example: when I first got my lashes done, I wasn't really sure *exactly* how I wanted them to look. They did a wonderful job, but I decided after I returned home that some of the extensions on the outer corner were a bit too long for my liking. The next time I went in for a refill, I let the technician know, and she was extremely nice and told me that I should have just come back in that first day and they would have been happy to fix the too-long lashes for me then and there! They want their customers to love how they look and it really shows. I have several friends that now have their lashes done at RISE as well (per my recommendation). I tell everyone to go to RISE - between the excellent services, the price, and the overall atmosphere, they really can't be beat. And lastly - not that this matters as much as their actual services, but the studio itself is SO cute! read more

A friend purchased a Gilt voucher for me here for the "The Classic All-Out Last Set + One Standard Fill." I scheduled my first appointment in July and had a pretty decent appointment with Christine. Although I was a bit surprised I was not provided a thorough consultation upon my first visit here, I just went with the flow and ended up liking the results! At check-out, I booked the standard fill (which was included in the Gilt voucher) for August 18th - a standard three weeks following my original appointment. Now, this is where things start to get a little shady here. Although I made them aware that this appointment would fall beyond the Gilt redemption date, I was reassured that the salon would be able to honor the Gilt and accommodate my appointment either way. Three days before my August 18th appointment, however, I receive a voicemail from the owner telling me they would not be able to honor the Gilt voucher because the appointment was scheduled for a date "beyond the Gilt voucher expiration date." Unfortunately, we were unable to connect 1:1 before my scheduled appointment so I decided to go in anyways. I thought, maybe there was something they could do to help me out. Upon my arrival and after I explained my situation, the receptionist rudely told me "that there was nothing they could do to override the system and to take it up with Gilt, oh! But good luck because they may not be of much help since they just went out of business". I should've walked out right then and there, but decided to move forward with the appointment since I already drove into the city and was enthusiastic to get these lashes done before my baby's due date two weeks later. Since my appointment was scheduled with Christine, I was told the "Fill" would cost $65 as she was an "Artist" level lash stylist. The appointment ended up being fine; lashes looked better than when I walked in so that's all I could ask for at that point. Upon checking out, however, Christine tells me that I owed her $75 because she just took a Master class and the owner had her listed as a "Master" lash stylist in the system - there was nothing they could do to override the misquoted price - shocker! I ended up paying for the appointment because I didn't want to offend anyone and their work, but darn did I feel "masterfully" duped. To make matters worse, it's only been (4) days since my fill, and most of my lashes have already fallen out. I was not going to post a review about this place because I wanted to like it so much, but I couldn't continue being passive about my experience here. It's unfortunate that this salon was unable to cater - at the very minimum - to a potential new business client. I was hoping this would become a go-to salon for this type of service and many others, but I now know for sure that I will never be coming back. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I have gone twice, the first time was great and I was really happy with my results (I got an eyelash curl). Then I went back 6 months later to get another eyelash curl and the lady left the product on my eyelashes too long and chemically burned off my eyelashes. I went back the next day to ask for my money back (in the moment I did not realize how bad it was), and they refused... instead they gave me a free grande lash and apologized for the damage assuring me that my eyelashes would simply grow back. It has been almost a year and my eyelashes have still not recovered. They are brittle and some are far shorter than others. I used to have amazing eyelashes and this salon ruined them. read more

My first time ever at RISE was earlier today and I'm SO pleased. I came in for a lash lift & tint with Nicole. My appointment had gotten rescheduled a couple times because of shipment troubles due to the snow, but they were very accommodating afterwards. The studio itself is beautiful and so clean, and the lash beds were comfortable. Nicole was absolutely AMAZING. I had never gotten a tint before and she told me all the steps beforehand so I knew what to expect, and gave me her honest opinion from personal experience when I was trying to decide between tint colors. She was also extremely gentle and meticulous. After a couple terrible experiences with lash enhancements and a few really good experiences, I could tell she was really focusing on me and making sure each lash was getting lifted, all the glue was off etc etc. After she told me something gets glued to my eyelid I was a little nervous for the removal (reminiscing on past bad experiences) but I didn't feel a thing. She was also really honest with me about when my lift will wear off and when to come back for my next appointment. You can also tip via Venmo, which is super convenient because I rarely ever carry cash! I don't ever write reviews but I had too because highly recommend this studio and especially Nicole!! I came here for the affordable lash lift (Gilt coupon also sweetened the deal) and decided to go for a brow tint too because why not, right? Was hoping this would be my new go-to place thanks to their reasonable prices but alas I was left disappointed. The results of my services were on both sides of the spectrum - my lashes barely lifted, and my brows were now a shade of black. For reference, I have typical Asian colouring and hair texture but this wasn't my first rodeo. The technician (she never actually told me her name) *did* say the brow colour would be on the darker side and then lighten up when it fades, but it was a serious case of Sharpie brow. Decided to give it a chance but woke up the next morning and realised there was no way I could go to work looking like someone had smeared gasoline on my eyebrows and scrubbed it off. I was just generally unimpressed with my experience here, but maybe it was the technician, or a bad day. read more

I got my lashes done with Gladys yesterday. She did a great job and they looked amazing at first. However I just woke up and half of my eyelashes have fallen out of one of my eyes and it looks like I need a fill already. I would go in to get them fixed but I'm leaving for vacation this morning and have no time to do so. I guess I'll just look a mess my entire trip. Not worth the money. I've been getting my lashes done for years and this place is more expensive than any place I've ever gone to (I'm from NY), but definitely half the quality. Will not be returning. read more

Previously I have had a good experience at Rise. However last week, after my first Quickie appointment my lashes were beautiful for the first few days, however they became to fall out the next day. Rise was very accommodating and let me come back in free of charge and replace the lashes that fell out. However, 3 days later the same thing happened and almost all of the lashes on one of my eyes fell out without contact with oils or makeup. Not sure if the glue didn't hold, but I will probably not be getting the Quickie lash set again because it is so obvious when lashes fall out this quickly. read more
