My eyebrows are thinner than they've ever been. It'll take awhile for them to grow back. I communicated that I wanted very little taken off and just to clean them up because I want to grow them out. I had microblading done and she seemed very disheveled about that. Regardless, I was specific with what I wanted and unfortunately she took a lot off which got rid of years of eyebrow growth. I used to go to many places to have my eyebrows shaped and Rachel is hands down the best - I will not go anywhere else. I had asymmetric eyebrows when I first went to Rachel, and she was able to even them out over time and allow me to get rid of the "overdone" look I had since college. Rachel is amazing. She makes my eyebrows beautiful, which makes me happy. She doesn't use wax, instead she uses tweezers, which I prefer. It's far cleaner and more precise. So why four stars? Well, it's a bit pricey at $40 an appointment of 30 minutes or less. I do try to maintain my eyebrows a bit so that I can extend the time between visits. I can go between 4 to 5 weeks right now. She only takes cash or checks though, so stop by the atm if you need to. I think there's one around the corner if you find your way just about there and cashless. read more

I actually see Sarah at Rachels. Sarah has a space shared with Rachel. I've been going to Sarah since she was working at Michaud Cosmetics which I started going to for about 10 years now. Her skills are incredibly amazing. I got compliments in public everywhere from getting my nails done to random people at a party asking where I got my eyebrows done. They don't disappoint when it comes to getting that brow shape. I highly recommend Sarah because I have been goign to her for so long and everybody does admit that I do pay alot to get my brows done, but they do look perfect from every strand when I come out of there. They only take cash or checks unfortunately. I think they would get even more business if they did accept credit cards, but it is a 2 person team there, so it's understandable. read more

Rachel is a godsend. I go to her for brow shaping. But I have also recommended multiple friends for other services and gotten makeup consultations from Rachel. All have been fabulous. She is the ultimate professional. Rachel listens carefully to your needs and has helpful and realistic suggestions. And she does so all with the goal of enhancing your natural beauty. I have never felt pressure to do anything from Rachel (e.g., often places insist you must go at a certain frequency or get lazy and try to wax instead of plucking to avoid the extra work if you haven't gone as regularly, etc.). She is honest in saying the more regular the better, but totally respectful of your situation. She has a great selection of Makeup Forever products and other tools that she has carefully chosen. Unlike most places, Rachel has never pushed me to buy any products or other services. When I do purchase something, it is because I came to Rachel with an issue and she had a great solution. I am so thankful to have her in my life. I was really disillusioned at all my prior brow experiences and felt there was nowhere to go. Rachel has made my brows my favorite thing! Note/Tip About Cash Only: I hate having to remember to bring cash. So Rachel kindly lets me prepay a certain amount. What's great is that it is not like buying a package--you can pay whatever amount you want (and the money can be used towards other services). Rachel doesn't even sell packages. If you want your brows to look better than they ever have, you NEED to go visit Rachel. I'm very specific about how my brows look, and Rachel took the time to listen to what I wanted and executed it perfectly. She only uses tweezers, so you also have a say at each step about how your brows come out. I always get compliments on how my brows look after an appointment with Rachel, and at this point there is nobody else I would go to. Even on Newbury St. where there are brow studios a plenty, they don't even come close to Rachel. Note: She only accepts cash (or checks I believe), and while $50 for an appointment is pricey she is the only person I trust with my brows. read more

I have been going to Rachel for at least 5 years for my eyebrows and I swear by her. She only uses tweezers (no wax) so the appointments only last about 10-20 minutes, and she can thus be very precise with what she takes vs what she leaves. Her attention to detail is wonderful, she helped me grow out my brows years ago when I first came to her after a waxer took too much (surprise, surprise). She's so fabulous I even got my husband to go for a very masculine eyebrow shaping and it looks fabulous and you can't tell he had anything done (in the best way) - he loves it. Rachel is just wonderful. I can't imagine what my eyebrows would be like without her....actually, I can! Because they were not perfect until I found her! She created a shape to my eyebrows that TRULY enhances my eyes, my face, and my look - I actually feel sexier and more like a women with these eyebrows!! And to think they were there allll along..damn I went to a woman before at a salon that didn't actually specialize in eyebrows, but I let her do her thing. When I decided I didn't want to see this woman anymore and I wanted to see an actual professional, I did NOT know I would be so okay with committing myself to regular appointments, especially since they're $48 for a half an hour (if not less!)! If you are looking to revamp your eyebrows: Sarah is your woman. She is an amazing eyebrow artist! I wanted a new shape, and a new shape she gave me! I was worried about getting my eyebrows reshaped as I've had the same shape for years but new it was time for a new look. I hate getting my eyebrows tweezed (I'm used to getting them waxed for cheap at nail salons) but I have to say she did a really good job at making me feel at ease. And it didn't even hurt that much! It looks fantastic and I'm so happy with the results. The only thing is that it's a bit pricey ($45 for 30 min eyebrow shaping session)so in terms of maintenance I think I'll only be able to afford every 4-6 weeks but it's totally worth it! Came for an eyebrow shaping with Rachel - she listened closely to what I wanted (not thin, but with a good arch) and worked with me to find a shape that is perfect. This is more of a question. I have not been to Rachel's but I did speak to her on the phone. I am in my fifties and have done a lot of tweezing in my life. Not all of those hairs grow back, and as a result my eyebrows are a bit asymmetrical. One of them is more over-tweezed than the other. Not terrible, but noticeable to me. Do you think she could help me? I don't want to end up with 2 overtweezed eyebrows. Most people who go to her probably have more hair in their eyebrows than they want, mine is kind of the opposite. It's hard to trust someone with your brows. I've been going to Rachel for about 4 years, about every 6 weeks, to have my brows done. Over the years, she's helped me get and maintain really nice, groomed, natural brows. If waxing is too scary (and damaging) and threading is too wierd, keep in mind that tweezing is the best, most accurate and painless method, and it's what real make up artists recommend. Rachel is really nice and is so knowledgable about brows and what shapes look both natural and best on your face.
