This is a nice salon and spa in York and one of the top salons in the area by most ratings. I came here a week and a half ago to just get a last minute haircut since my usual salon didn't have any last minute openings. It was quiet so I had the chance to chat while the staff and the gal who cut my hair. Everything was clean and nice, my hair and was cut and dried and I got on my way. I somehow didn't notice at the time but afterwards, two days later when I washed and dried my hair I noticed it was cut uneven, about an inch difference on each side. I called and talked to the manager, who offered me a discount on future services, but why would I want to get my hair done there again? They have a salon and massage services and she didn't offer anything else except 50% off on future services. I had two conversations with the manager and ultimately nothing really came of it. They didn't even care to see pictures. Honestly everyone was really nice, including the stylist who cut my hair and the manager who handled my complaint, but being nice doesn't fix my hair or ever make me want to come back. There was a clear opportunity to offer something to remedy the situation but they didn't take it. read more

I got a deal on a hair cut, partial highlight, and blow dry style so I scheduled my appointment and I was quite pleased with the friendliness of everyone. When I arrived she put my foils in and set me off to the side for about 40 minutes without checking my hair ONCE while she cut and styled someone else hair.....Which is quite scary since I have blonde hair and she was highlighting it blonde, my hair take easily so I was scared that I was not going to have any hair left but I tried to stay positive.... I told her I always part my hair to the side and I wanted bangs exactly like I did two years prior and I showed her two photos. She cut bangs, a trim and touched up my long layers. I was very unsure before I left on whether or not I liked it. I associated my unsettling feeling with the shock of having my very long hair cut to bangs (about 1 1/2 ft off) I expressed this to her as well, then I went about my day. The next day I couldn't style the bangs to look nice no matter what I tried, I tried the next day and still nothing so I started to look deeper..... She missed whole sections of my hair with highlights, the whole back of my head had no highlights along with a strip in the middle of my bangs and a strip in the middle of my head. The highlights were VERY spastic and uneven. My bangs looked as though she put a bowl on my head and just cut along that line. there was no blending them into the rest of my hair or anything and they were EXTREMELY thick.. The more I looked at my hair the more I wanted to cry!!! I felt so UGLY! I called the salon back to see if anything could be done to make this better and the owner spoke with me.... She told me that my only option was to come back and have the same people that butchered my very precious hair try and fix it... I asked why I would trust them and asked if I could get some sort of a refund even if it wasn't the full amount I paid and she responded with "No, but THE POSITIVE PART IS YOU DIDN'T PAY FULL PRICE ANYWAY!!!!" I couldn't believe my freaking ears! the OWNER had the audacity to say something as rude as that. I don't care what I paid! just because you gave a deal and I bought it does NOT give you the right to butcher my hair!!!! read more

I went in to RISE Beauty Co. for a few treatments. Now...all three of these were brand-new for me. I've had pedicures and massages in the past, but never a manicure, or a facial...and definitely never a waxing service (oh boy...so hairy). I was very hesitant to have my back waxed--ummm, hello I saw 40-Year-Old Virgin--but the staff were very professional. They walked me through exactly what to expect and answered every question I had. Elandra kept me talking the whole way through and I didn't even feel the first tear. It was way less painful than expected. I cannot recommend this place enough. My back looks so good now. They take walk ins, which is really nice. I only came to get my nails done, but I gotta say the salon was really clean and inviting. The staff was pleasant and very attentive. I'm giving Avanti 3 stars only because I'm not really satisfied with my manicure. I had gel removed and the lady talked me into getting shellac, said they won't chip for three weeks, and I've already lost some polish. My manicurist took her time, but my nails are all uneven and the polish is sloppy around my cuticles and if I turn my hand to the side, you can see lines of my actual nail. She tried to talk me into getting French style tips -- thank goodness I said not today because they cost an extra $7 for that line of white. If I go back, it probably won't be for nails! read more

I currently need a massage, so I immediately thought of Avanti! I've been here twice and have always left feeling rejuvenated! The team here really does a great job of taking care of you and pampering you as well. It was lovely all around. The salon itself is pretty big. They also do nails, hair, makeup. This review is for spa services; I get a facial at Avanti when I'm in York for the weekend because it's very inexpensive and they do a fantastic job. The facilities are nicely equipped and the staff are pleasant and professional, the owner is lovely and motivated to please. Update. I called a few days after I got the horrible eyebrow job they told me I could come in and get them done again. But that lady who did them is the only lady who does them. So I asked for a refund and they said they would mail a check out. It's been months and still no check. Never would I recommend this place to anyone read more

A gorgeous exterior and Zen-like atmosphere brought us into Avanti! Avanti!'s hair stylists are fun, conversational, and really good at their job. We had general ideas about our hair and they were able to refine our style to model-like pizzazz with everyday wearability. It's not cheap, like local franchise salons, but good value. read more

Very displeased! I keep Saturday appointments schedule more Han a month in advance. I waited 4 weeks to get my first appointment, and have had only two appointments. My third being canceled on the day of the appointment. I have appointments every two weeks for a particular service like clock work. While I understand there may be family emergencies, the provider should reschedule as soon as possible. But the providers time is treated as our inconvenience and theirs to never be inconvenienced. My time is just as important as theirs! Maybe there should be someone on call for these types of call outs or leave early situations! Or some alternate means (but there is no one else available today). I am very, very unhappy at this time! How could the nail tech still be sitting in her chair at 2 doing someone's nails if something came up at noon (12PM)?????? read more

I recently received a facial service from Avanti! Heard this place was very clean and professional from a friend. Upon arrival the place was very neat &organized. I was greeted promptly as I walked in by the receptionist, offered a beverage, and immediately offered to take my jacket. I then went back to the facial room and it smelled wonderful!!!! Just the way a spa should! We got started with the facial and not long after the smell of cigarettes was all I could smell. I am not a smoker so I found this extremely offensive. Not long after the massage part I heard her leave the room upon return the smell worsened. Aside from this, I felt very pushed into buying a "spa membership", by both receptionist and esthtcian. Charlotte is so sweet with an amazing personality. The salon is clean and is up scale. I usually get my eyebrows done at Eyebrow Palace and it takes no time at all! It took forever and he lady actually caused cuts to my eyebrow....not sure how that happens with threading that is supposed to not cause any irritation. I was gifted a massage for 2 days before my wedding, scheduled it for the morning at 10 am. When I got there, the receptionist didn't greet me, I had to greet her as she was too busy discussing personal things with a coworker. I arrived 10 minutes early to fill out paperwork, as I had been asked to do, but they didn't have the proper paperwork ready. So at 10:10, after I should have been in the massage, I had the proper paperwork to fill out. At 10:15 another worker comes in, asks what I'm waiting for, I tell her, and she informs me my masseuse wasn't even there. So finally, around 10:30 (after being told my masseuse didn't know I was coming, even though the appointment was made over a week in advance) I was able to start my massage. The only compensation I was offered was a free 30 minutes tacked on, which I could not use because of previously lined up appointments. The ONLY reason I gave 2 stars is because the massage itself was actually pretty good. But the worst customer service I have seen in a long time. read more

This was the opposite of a relaxing spa experience that I was hoping to get. I was in my brother's wedding the following day and had scheduled a spa pedicure and a manicure with full set of acrylic nails. I was hoping to get some relaxation before the wedding festivities occurred however but at this place it was impossible. The owner was abrasive and very unprofessional. I had my appointment with her while the entire place was empty, I guess everyone else already knew how terrible this place was. You'd think there would be relaxing spa music playing but all I heard was a standard radio station. With that in the distance and only myself there with the owner it made for a long uncomfortable appointment. My pedicure was nothing special and my feet were barely massaged (paid extra for the spa massage pedicure). She had gotten nail polish all over my toes which I had to spend removing, in my home, later for about 30 min. During my "manicure" and full set (still uncomfortable since the place was dead with just two of us there) the owner forgot about the manicure and went straight to gluing on the nails. I do not take care of my nails and wanted to look glamorous for being in this wedding. So without the manicure the full set looked ridiculous. Especially since she did no filing, dead skin removal or even push back my cuticles. To top off this horrible experience one of this owner's family members stopped in mid appointment creating a huge dramatic situation. The owner actually stopped our appointment and disappeared with the family member for about 5 min. If I knew where else to go I would have walked out but with nails as long as my arms I had to wait for her to return. When she did come back to finish her scheduled appointment, she had obviously been crying, she then talked to me about all of her family drama. Quite frankly none of it deemed worthy enough to stop someone during their work shift ruining a clients experience. Very low class for a place calling themselves a "spa". My nails look like they had been put on weeks ago since she didn't push the cuticles back and glued them on a little lower than mid nail. Once again nail polish everywhere. Another at home remediation that I shouldn't have had to do. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It was unprofessional, over priced, and a very low quality of work. read more
