When I showed up Geoff was super attentive and eager to help out. I asked what the chances were for a Sunday ride. He said man, we can try but it's honestly going to be Tuesday. Bummer as the weekend was beautiful and I wanted to ride. He was professional and remember in high school when folks would write "stay cool" in your yearbook? He remained cool. Fun to talk to and shoot the breeze with. So Saturday came upon us and I called to see if there was an update. Sadly Alec was swamped and was given the news that probably Tuesday. No worries, I destroyed my legs at the gym because surely there was no way they would call Saturday afternoon, right? Wrong. Called around 3 and said "Alec is a beast, your bike will be ready by 5". Drove my happy ass up there and grabbed my purple Norco and couldn't have been happier. Shot the breeze with them for a bit, Alec is also a cool dude who was great to visit with. The bike? Seriously looked brand new. Clean, indexed perfectly and rides like a damn dream. If you need a new bike, or repairs go see my peeps over there.

Because I really enjoyed seeing this side of Houston…read more --- --- --- Since moving back to the Houston area nearly a year and a half ago, I've remained as unimpressed as I was during my first 22 years here. The cost of living and weather are great, but we much preferred our time living in Tampa. One reason is the beauty, or lack thereof when driving on most interstates. Billboards, car dealerships and businesses stacked on top of businesses are basically all that one sees. What does all of that have to do with Bike Barn Bayou Rental? Well, my friend was coming to visit Houston for the first time and I wanted to showcase the city in the best way that I could. Since I know he loves cycling, I figured that would be pretty ideal, and it ended up really working out! I called ahead since I'd never been here before and was told that there were plenty of bikes available to rent and that I could just show up. A couple of hours later, we arrived and the process was pretty easy. We filled out waivers and were given a quick explanation of where the trail would take us, and then we headed out. We had the bikes for 2 hours, but completed the entire main trail in about 30 minutes. I stopped back in the shop to ask where else they would recommend we ride, but I also requested a new bike. Every time I downshifted below the highest gear, the chain would consistently pop whenever I'd push slightly harder than normal. I was given an alternate bike and suggestions on where to ride next, which was great. But unfortunately, the new bike had the exact same problem. I sucked it up and just dealt with the chain popping, but it was definitely annoying. However, the overall experience was still a great one, as I was able to see a ton of Houston from an angle I'd never experienced before. The entire ride along the Buffalo Bayou was great, but also, we ended up riding all through downtown and came across some cool parks and other really nice spots. It helped give me an appreciation for Houston that I've definitely never had before. So thanks, BBBR!

No one is going to expect you are closed on the best day of the week to get things done. As someone who had my car explode from the local Take5 oil change service. My bike is my only form of transportation. That sucks enough. I am busy every day of the week at work. I can't believe I keep doing this. Be closed on Sundays like a normal business or be open everyday. I now have to walk my broken bike back home, again.
