Took my family to Risibisi last night to celebrate my daughter's boyfriend's 40th birthday party. We made reservations for 7pm. I called ahead to let them know we were celebrating a special birthday and asked if we could bring a cake. They said yes to the cake. We arrived early at 6:45pm. The front part of the restaurant was full so they sat us in back next to the back door. Not the greatest table, but we understood they were busy. Butternut Squash soup was really good. Bruschetta, Calamari and Caesar salad were good. My son liked his Gnocchi. I had the Salmon and it was great. My biggest reason for the 3 star review was our server. She seemed unhappy to be working, slammed the door next to us when she went out back to take care of her customers outside, gathered plates and dropped them loudly behind my head, where the server's station was located. Did the same with a tray of silverware. Don't know what was going on. Maybe they were understaffed and she felt put out but it was unpleasant to say the least. The service was also incredibly slow. Over all experience not horrible but not worth repeating for a special occasion. Maybe lunch with a friend, sitting in the main dining area, is the way to go!! read more

Coming from a large, Italian family, its always an exciting experience to try a new Italian restaurant, and Risibisi was a great treat (although, I do admit, I misheard my fiancee and thought we were having reeses pieces for dinner. That disappointment may have lingered). Its a beautiful restaurant, and they have a very interesting, fun menu with some truly unique items. Our first feature was the meatball appetizer, and here is the only place any actual disappointment occurred. The meatballs are advertised as "melt in your mouth," and they were fantastic, literally dissolving in a burst of delicious flavour. Where they failed, however, was the sauce -- the sauce on the meatballs themselves was like something out of a can with a caricature of an Italian chef on the label. It was orange in colour, thick and ketchup-y, and incredibly sweet, but lacking in any other flavour. While the meatballs were downright magical, the sauce that accompanied them left me worried about the remainder of the meal. Fortunately, whatever sauce they use for the meatballs is not what comes with the rest of the meal. My fiancee had a seafood pasta dish, which I tasted before my meal. I wanted to trade, but after tasting mine, I'm glad I didn't. Mine was a boar ragu, which is shredded boar meat in sauce, over a homemade pasta. This made up for any lingering disappointment in the previous sauce. The pasta was incredible, with fantastic flavour. The meat was bursting with deliciousness, and the sauce that came with it? It had that slightly burnt taste to it that you get with real, homemade sauce that has sat on the stove for hours upon hours. It wasn't overly sweet, or overly spiced, it was... I'm starting to suspect these people either raided my grandmother's recipe book, or have been holding her captive for twenty years. We finished off with an assortment of desserts, including canoli. Good ones are hard to find -- these were fantastic. I'll be coming back. read more

Love that this was a great space, nicely designed interiors, elegant but not overbearing for lunch. I don't want white table cloths for lunch. The server was lovely and the food was delicious. This restaurant is wonderful. We had a reunion of returned Peace Corps Volunteers and they treated us very well. Counting spouses, we were 23 individuals, and the food and drink were wonderful as we celebrated our 61st anniversary. Food was delicious. Service was terrible. I don't think that the restaurant is used to having this many tables. The restaurant is small inside, but they have a bunch of tables in a back alley. This appears to be something for covid and not a permanent area. They were completely overwhelmed. Our server took a long time to even acknowledge us and from then on we were pretty much ignored. Our glasses sat empty for long periods of time. We had to flag staff down for water and refills. Our server also did not go over any specials with us even when we asked if he had any recommendations. He then proceeded to go over the specials with the rest of the tables seated in his section. Last, there are 2 individual stalls for the restroom. There are a lot of tables for there to only be two single stalls. The bathroom was very dirty with toilet paper and paper towels all over the floor. Overall, would not be running back. The food was very good, but there are many Italian restaurants in the surrounding areas. read more

Popped in without a reservation and waited at the bar for a table. We were enjoying chatting with the bartender so much we ended up having dinner on their beautiful underlit onyx slab bar. We shared pasta cabonara, meatball appetizers and another entree - it escapes me, perhaps the grey goose martini was the cause? - anyhow, all of the food was excellent. Service at the bar was outstanding. We'll be back! When the restaurant is busy it can be noisy. Parking in the public lot just south of the restaurant was great - NOTE: you must enter the cobblestone 'ally' from Washington to access the this particular lot. read more

First of all, great service from Shayla. She did front door, bar, took orders and handled a busy room. Applause! Place is small but lnice decor. Felt like I was in a European restaurant. Great food and great price from appetizer , entree and dessert. Calamari to start was tasty with huge portion for an appetizer. I had pasta carbonera which again big portion in a cream sauce was yummy while hubby had wild boar gnocchi. My husband said it was excellent! Ended meal on high note with pistachio creme brulee. If lovely staff made a restaurant 5 star this would be that. So polite efficient and attentive they all were. We felt well cared for. Thank you for that! The food was pretty good. What's that actually mean? Different for everyone right? Enjoyable and fresh but not amazing delicious or memorable. The hot crispy fried seafood/vegetable starter was the highlight. The eggplant Parmesan I really wanted to love but although not heavily breaded it suffered from a one note intense tomato flavor. Bechamel people!! One little layer. Such a good idea rarely implemented. Salmon cooked well but uninspired. Pasta with a ragu was flavorful but not saucy enough to feel more silky on the palate. What an experience...and not in a good way. I had reservations made at 6:45 for a table of 4 moms who don't get out often but we wanted to celebrate a night out. Keep in mind, it's a Thursday night. Our "lovely" waitress Vero took her sweet time getting our drinks and appetizers started, first off. Okay, maybe that should have been a sign...no. Maybe it was a crazy night for her? Or maybe she was frustrated with our table because when she was telling us their specials, before announcing she's telling us their specials, me and my friend were having a side conversation and by the look of her face, she didn't like that. Okay, our appetizers come and we order our meals. All being their fettuccine pesto with chicken. Literally. That's all we ordered. 15 minutes role by and she's no where to be seen. Not even to ask us how our appetizer was. We're having a great conversation and seeing people come in the restaurant and head to the bar, order food and somehow an hour goes by. We notice everyone around us getting their meals except for us. By then, my friend calls a waiter because vero isn't anywhere to be seen, and asks for the check which consists of 2 mock tails, a glass of wine, and our appetizer. We let him know we've been waiting over an hour and would just like to pay for our things we got and leave. He comes back with the FULL CHECK which consists of food we never received and has the nerve to ask if we'd like our food to go. We all glare at him and politely say no. Another waiter comes by, not even our original waitress, and apologizes profusely. As we're leaving, our "waitress" Vero says condescendingly "THANK YOU FOR COMING". What kind of service is that? To not ever acknowledge your table or have the decency to apologize for having us wait that long? Was it because we weren't a big table? We weren't a priority? First time there and that's the experience we got.. After that, it's about 8pm and we now are starved and need to get something quick so we think, let's go to Olive Garden! Tell me why Olive Garden had our food out quickly with great service. How does that make any sense?! read more

I'd been wanting to stop by this spot for a while and was glad to be able to visit to dine outdoors (when that was still something that was allowed) on their great makeshift patio overlooking the river. The street behind Risibisi and a few other Petaluma restaurants was modified to allow dining, which made for a lovely view and a safe, socially distanced dining experience. There's a decent amount of space for multiple parties, and the times are far enough away from each other than I never felt like I had to get very close to any other customers. They've got a nice happy hour with some cheap appetizers and discounted beers and wines. The beer selection is a bit limited, but you can expect some local IPAs from Lagunitas or Henhouse. The happy hour wine selection is a bit more extensive and also offers spritzers. We got the calamari for our appetizer, which was awesome - especially for happy hour. Good portions with a garlic aioli and cocktail sauce on the side. I liked both sauces, and having the choice to go back and forth between both was nice. For my entree, I got the pumpkin ravioli which was AWESOME. Made with sage brown butter, this was the perfect combo of sweet and savory for an entree. Normally, I'd want their to be some kind of protein to go along with my dinner, but I didn't miss it here at all. I was incredibly satisfied with the choice and it would be hard for me to pick something else, knowing this is still available on the menu. Get it while it's still in season! The weather might not be great for an outdoor dining experience these days, but I highly recommend visiting on a sunnier day, so you can enjoy some happy hour drinks and appetizers and enjoy the view of the river. read more

Fabulous evening at Risibisi. We ordered a Negroni cocktail and it was perfection. Next we ordered beat salad and it was devine. You can taste the farm to table quality. Next we had our main course and my wife had Braised Pork Shoulder with a glass of SuperTuscan. I had the Eggplant Parmigiana and a glass of Wilson Zinfandel. Both dishes were incredible but the eggplant parm was out of this world. It was sliced so thin you would think it is the lightest pasta you ever tasted. We skipped dessert because we were stuffed. We lingered at our table and sipped wine, eventually ordering another glass as dessert and splitting that glass. There was no rush to turn the table and the staff could see we were enjoying each-other and left us alone. It was romantic and relaxing. For once I felt happy leaving a 20% tip. read more

The place is elegant and everyone is very professional. I had a great time and enjoyed the pasta in creamy sauce. My starter soup was also very tasty. Initially went on the recommendation of a friend when I had planned on passing through Petaluma, and it quickly became the go-to spot for Italian food and drinks in the area. Most recently, stopped by on a Sunday for a quick bite. Ordered the beef carpaccio and a bloody mary.
