This being my second visit I guess I liked it enough to return, and I was once again impressed with both visits. My first visit I had chicken Parmesan and for my second visit I had veal Parmesan. I enjoyed them both so much I will gave to have another visit to help me decide which one was my fav. I was happy to see they have a large bar for cocktails. The service was good. Everything was extremely salty. I took a bite, and I didn't want to swallow. I mean extreme salt that you wouldn't taste anything. Update: I hate to waste food, so I took it home and soaked it in a low fat milk overnight. It's still very salty, but edible. I don't understand why they had to ruin the ingredients. If salty food is your choice, you can sprinkle salt, but you can't reverse it. Suggestion to the chef: go light on salt and oil. The fish was as salty as anchovies, and the meat was as saltly as beef jerky. Customers can add salt and pepper for their likings, but they can't reduce it at the table. read more

The service was terrible. It was 15 minutes before our server approached the table. He treated us as though we were an inconvenience. We were never asked if we would like more water, another cocktail, bread, a salad or soup with our meal. Although the food was palatable the wait staff ruined the meal. We were never asked if we wanted wine. The menu was never collected...not coffee or dessert enquiry. We've been going to this restaurant for 15+ years. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We had a reservation for 7 PM but weren't seated until 8 PM. Even after being seated, no one came to take our order until 8:35 PM. When the waitress finally arrived, she placed the water glasses on the table with wet hands, leaving the glasses dripping. It was clear that cleanliness was not a priority here. The restaurant was extremely crowded, and there was absolutely no management or organization in place to handle the situation. The service was painfully slow, and we felt completely disregarded as customers. When the food eventually arrived, it was nothing like what was advertised on their online menu, and the quality was far from satisfactory. To top it all off, despite the extremely poor service, they automatically added a 20% tip to our bill. This felt entirely unjustified given the terrible experience we had. If you're looking for a pleasant dining experience, I strongly recommend avoiding this place. Poor management, terrible service, and complete lack of customer care made this a place I'll never return to. read more

The food was seriously lacking. My grilled salmon with gremolata was overcooked and had no gremolata. The small cheese souffle was a deep fried bread pudding puck, and the chocolate cake was the worst I've ever had. How they managed to make the mousse filling so gummy and flavorless is beyond me. The staff was gracious and very helpful from beginning to end. We were celebrating a birthday and initially expected a party of five and needed a quiet table. At the last minute, we were down to four. They let us pick the table that would be the quietest. The food was incredible and the portions were large. Now the clientele has settled into the....more mature crowd, and the menu needs updating: typical Italian-style salads, pizzas and pastas. Still, the food is consistently good, especially the lasagna and the signature dish, carpaccio. Have the cappellini with tomatoes, basil and garlic or the gnocchi with meat sauce. A nice size bar and a decent wine list makes for a fun evening. Make reservations if it's the weekend and ask to seat next to the open windows in the summer evenings. read more

The double pork chop with baked apple looked nice, but was on the dry side. I would have expected that they brine their pork, but it seems they don't. One side was nicely seared but dry, the other (under-)side looked like it wasn't seared. The Osso Buco was quite tasty. The sauce on both entrees was great. Both came with garlic mashed potatoes, but no vegetable garnish. I was delighted to see veal on the menu, but the price is a complete joke. Veal scallopini for $60 (that is $80 with tax and tip)? Carpaccio's is more traditional in restaurant ambiance having been around for over three decades. Sometimes I want that classic feel with simpler Italian food. The fancy interiors aren't always necessary. My friend brought me here the first time. We had an enjoyable dinner with a reasonably priced bottle of Stag's Leap wine but not before a couple martinis. It was kind of cool that they bring reserve martini in a little vile on ice. I appreciate the novelty! She strongly advised ordering the Bombetta di Parmigiano which was a warm parmesan soufflé served in the center on a bed of baby spinach, arugula, and shaved asparagus. The dressing was a perfect light champagne walnut oil vinaigrette. This is definitely a specialty here. -different tastes and the souffle is soooooo good making it an exciting salad. The entrees are pretty simple classic Italian with light sauces and modest seasoning. I had branzino the first time and trout the second time. Both fish were tasty with simple seasonings and lemon. I knew my mom would enjoy this place! I made reservations for her birthday and my bf and I before leaving. Dinner with my mom and bf was great! The service was as attentive and friendly as the first. We all enjoyed our food. Mom liked her chicken and the bf enjoyed the veal marsala and of course I did too! -loved the light wine sauce not heavy... We topped our evening off with cordials and sharing a delicious blueberry panna cotta adorned with a mint leaf. Neither my mom or I like desserts with excessive sugar. This was perfect! My bf is an easier pleaser with desserts. It would be easy for him to find an enticing dessert. The crowd was older. So the atmosphere is quieter for audible conversations. The hostess ignores you and is rude, which is your first impression and refuses to seat you where you want to sit despite the restaurant being empty!!! The martinis and bartender were great which brought us back a second time but not enough to make us return. Food was too salty AGAIN. My wife and I went to dinner last night and were terribly disappointed. This has always been our favorite restaurant but hadn't been in months. My wife ordered the trout and I ordered spaghetti and meatballs with marinara sauce. My wife's fish smelled and tasted old it wasn't fresh. My marinara was thick and cold and the meatballs were over cooked and dry. It looked as if none of the food was fresh. The waiter was very apologetic and comped our entrees. I asked if ownership or management had changed and the waiter informed me that the manager that had been there for years had retired. He said the owners wife was running the restaurant. It was such a disappointment because we love Carpaccios and now are scratching it off our list. If it had been one entree that had been subpar we could have written it off as a one off. What happened to Carpccios ? We've been going for years and last night's meal was a huge disappointment. Sevice was slow to none and the food disappointed. I ordered their salmon parmesan and what came out was fried cod. The portions were small and wait staff was rude and very slow. We asked the question as to what happened? Has it undergone new management as the wait staff and bar tender were not recognized. If anyone knows of major changes with this restaurant we would like to hear them. read more

We had the oysters asiago, carpaccio, tortellini prosciutto, and Linguine with seafood. All wonderful as usual. The soufflé was heavier than I had expected, but it was still tasty with just the right amount of cheese. It compliments the salad well! - Petrale Piccata - Sole sautéed with lemon, capers, and cream. Served with green beans and potatoes. They give large pieces of fish! WHAT HAPPENED? We used to go to Carpacccio once a month but then moved away. On a visit back two weeks ago, the "hostess" was unfriendly and wasn't dressed correctly. We came at 5:30 and had very bad service considering there were only 10 people in the entire restaurant. It was a birthday dinner and no one said Happy Birthday (let alone give a little Birthday dessert). The food is OK and not very many Italian pasta choices. I would give one star for service, but the food is pretty decent, so 2 it is. Poor service overpowered the good food. Honestly, the hostesses are rude and seem to be on some sort of power trip. Despite reservations and empty tables, we had to beg and plead (while two hostesses rolled their eyes and started speaking in Spanish, making it very obvious they were talking about us) for a table. Dinner was pretty fantastic. My favorite thing: bruschetta. So tasty- all the right flavors. The calamari is a close contender. There was 5 of us for dinner. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal & the waiter was patient with us- as we occupied the table from 6:30 to closing. I had one of the pesce specials .... Scallions w/ risotto & spinach. Delicious. Post the mains we also ordered the tiramisu + bread pudding/ice cream dessert. The latter was my favorite. This place was pretty busy for a Tuesday evening- a good sign they're doing something right. We have been going to Carpaccio's for several years, and always enjoyed the food and the staff. My husband enjoys the Pizza Margarita, now I know that that Pizza has basil on it, however the last four times we ask for basil, but get arugula, we continued to be told that it's basil, well it's not. Went there last night and the food was so good. It's a hidden little gem. Lots of food. Calamari was so light and crispy and they give you a special red spicy aioli with a another mayo based aioli. Had the chicken piccata. Wish more lemon cake through but portion was huge and came with green beans and yummy scalloped potatoes. We order the gnocchi in a vodka sauce and it was good as well. My friend had a chicken with veggies like carrot potatoes and spinach and she loved it. We stayed for coffee and it was so good. Can't wait to go back. Service was a bit slow but it was because there were only 2 servers in our area and the place was packed on a Friday night so he did a great job handling tables even though I was waiting for my refill on drinks I understand he was slammed and short staffed but he was very nice and explained the dishes and what they were known for as it was our first time. What a great Italian gem in Menlo! Went here with the extended family not too long ago for a holiday celebration. We brought some wine, ordered some apps (carpaccio obviously!) and shared some entrees. Nothing we ordered disappointed! I went with the mushroom ravioli. I have no idea what was in the sauce, but it was heavenly!! I wish my stomach was bigger so I could've devoured more of it! Other entrees included their Friday special of lasagna, breaded chicken breast, salmon fettucine, and the classic spaghetti and meatballs. Again, all delicious and impressive. It's $15/bottle corkage fee (on par with what's to be expected) with a 2 bottle max. So we did just that :) However, they do have a great selection of wines there. The only slight drawback was that the restaurant certainly crammed in as many tables and chairs as they possibly could into the space! Combine that with their generally over-70 clientele, and it made for some interesting maneuvering and logistics. Other than that, our server was amazing and very funny. We'll be back. read more

very disappointing - had not visited in a several years - guess they changed owners or something. Greeted (if you want to call it that) by a young woman in jeans and sweatshirt who sat us at a table without a word of acknowledgement or greeting. A restaurant of that caliber needs a proper hostess you would think. We waited awhile before being asked about drinks etc. Drinks arrived, my husbands Manhattan was served in some kind of metal cup rather than a proper glass. Our soups were good tho my husbands lentil soup was luke warm. On to the entree, my husbands whole plate of veal scallopini, green beans and potatoes was cold, he had to ask to have it warmed up. My cannelloni was not very warm either but I really didn't want to bother the waiter anymore. The veal dish seemed to be a more beef scallopini than veal, never had veal before that was that color. It's great to see Carpaccio opening back up after we have supported them with take out through the pandemic. Having said, the server attitude is terrible and one scene sticks in my mind. I was with hubby at the bar for dinner and a drink, and there was a woman seated alone at the end of the bar who arrived before us. The server made sure to take our drink orders quickly and provide water. And we had ordered our meal before he waited on the single woman. When she asked for a glass of water and to place her order he told her he was busy, and announced for all to hear "I am not watching TV, can't you see?" She took it in stride, but he was clearly shaming her for asking to be served. It was horrible to watch because this same server was fawning over the men. It was our first time trying this place and even though it's kind of hidden it was worth it. The vibe was so cute 80% of people in there were elderly and I thought it was so cute ! Staff was so friendly and we were seated fast even though the place was almost full . We got the fried calamari and I don't like calamari because of its rubbery texture but this fried calamari was so good! We had 2 different types of sauces I believe tartar and another spicy one . I got the nepolitan pizza and he sprinkled extra cheese on top and ughhh it melted which made it super cheesy and good .
