I have been there twice now. First time the food was amazing and fresh. The dates app was an explosion of amazing flavors. The mozzarella in carozza in lemon butter was different but very good. I will need to try it in the anchovy sauce next time. I ended up doing the half plate of the 4 cheese ravioli and that did not disappoint! Loved it and for me this was enough. I loved how it was intimate and calm unlike some of the other restaurants in town.

The restaurant itself is quiet and not too fancy just dressed up a bit which is good because you don't feel you have to get dressed up. The food was great my lamb chops were excellent as were the vegetables. The desserts were both great. The wait staff was friendly and kept us in drinks without a hiccup.

Had a good experience at Ristorante Renato last night. Food was good. My wife's chicken parmigiana was enough for two meals. Very nice ambiance, and the restaurant is right on the main drag in Old Town Fredericksburg. It's in a very old building, so it's an interesting mix of old and new inside. Food was a bit pricey, some of that being all the taxes. For two entrees, one half-priced happy hour appetizer and one half-priced happy hour drink it was $76, including taxes but not including tip. So, with tip, it cost us $91 for dinner for two. Pricey, but not outrageous these days, I guess. I like restaurants that have happy hour specials even on Saturdays for those of us who like to get in and get out early. Our waiter, Juan, was clearly a professional, and I got the feeling he's been a waiter for a long time (i.e. decades). I felt like I was at a high-end restaurant with him as my waiter. My unique observation is that I almost set my menu on fire. I leaned it up against the candle on the table, which I assumed was battery-operated like every other restaurant candle these days. Turns out they have real flames on their candles.

I'm adding a pic from my most recent visit! The oysters turned out very yummy once again. Our happy hour visit was a lot of fun and a ton of food for an affordable price!

Renatos is a great Italian restaurant in downtown Fredericksburg. This amazing place has been in business since 1978 and their pasta entrees along with all of their other items are made fresh on site. You can clearly taste the difference! Zoey was our waitress this evening and she made our night wonderful! I was there with my family to celebrate my birthday and she was so pleasant and even surprised me with a birthday spumoni! I highly recommend this tasty hidden gem! My only comment would be to have a fresh black pepper grinder at the table or offered. All the other items are so fresh that adding that final touch of freshly ground pepper would be great. None the less, a must try restaurant!

We loved our dinner here on Valentine's night. Smaller portions of pasta, but tasty. The meals also come with a side salad and bread for the table. Highly recommend the chicken parmesan, tiramisu and espresso martini for dessert.

It all went well, the food, service and the ambiance. You feel at home from the moment you open the door. You are greeted by the hostess and more often than not the owner. The service is great.

But the service is what really took the cake! Unfortunately I had a little incident where my phone fell into a crack in the booth, and we weren't able to get it out. It was the kind of thing that was unfortunate, but not anyone's fault. Even so, they went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help. The owner was unable to get a contractor to get the phone out that night, so he worked all day the next day to retrieve the phone himself so I wouldn't have to wait another day. On top of all that, they paid for my dinner because I had to come all the way back from DC to get the phone. Crazy ordeal, but just an example of how much they are willing to do to help out their customers even when they weren't at fault. I will absolutely be coming back any time I am in Fredericksburg. Shout out to the owner and the manager, Tim, for being so helpful. P.S. The mushroom ravioli special I had on night two was also delicious, as was the pesto gnocchi, zucchini soup, and pizza my friends had.

The cozy indoor dining room transports you to a relaxed, no-frills neighborhood restaurant you'd expect to find in Naples, Italy. The service was excellent. Our server was friendly, offered thoughtful recommendations, and checked in at just the right times. They were attentive without being intrusive. We never had to ask for plates to be cleared or flag someone down when we were ready for dessert. We started with the calamari, followed by the lasagna, and finished with the lemon cake. I also had an Aperol Spritz. Every dish tasted incredibly fresh, and you could tell nothing relied on frozen ingredients or store-bought sauces. If you're looking for authentic Italian food in the Fredericksburg area, I highly recommend Orofino. I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in town.

Now, let me be clear: Nicole the bartender is the sole reason this place isn't getting the kind of rating you give a broken lawnmower. She was thoughtful, attentive, and smiled like she actually meant it--which is rarer in restaurants these days than a Baptist drinking a margarita in public. But then the food showed up and dragged the whole evening back down the hill. The flatbread pizza was so thin I'm convinced the crust started life as a Nabisco cracker. It was edible, in the technical sense. The calamari, on the other hand, was about 85% breading--looked like somebody dumped a bag of fried socks on a plate. Not greasy, I'll give 'em that, but mostly just a pile of extra coating searching desperately for a squid. So, yes, Bravo did better... but only because Nicole held the rope while the rest of the meal dangled over the cliff.

Unfortunately, his overall appearance was quite disheveled, which did not make a particularly good first impression. After waiting a few minutes, I was warmly greeted by Jasmine B. I ordered a 9-ounce glass of Blackberry Sangria, the Toscana Filet and Shrimp, and, for dessert, a John Cole. The pasta was served hot; however, both the meat and shrimp were only lukewarm. The John Cole, consisting of ice cream and cake, had already melted by the time it reached my table. While I cannot say for certain, the temperature of the food may have been related to the workload Jasmine was handling. Jasmine was serving a large party of ten, several other tables in the booths, guests seated on the outside patio, and she was also responsible for the bar. That is an enormous amount of responsibility for one server. Despite being stretched in so many directions, Jasmine handled everything professionally and remained attentive and courteous throughout my meal. She certainly deserves credit for doing an excellent job under very demanding circumstances. There was, however, another issue that should not be overlooked: the menu itself had food particles on it. Menus should be clean and presentable, particularly in a restaurant where guests are preparing to dine. Overall, while Jasmine provided professional and attentive service under difficult circumstances, the lukewarm food, melted dessert, and unclean menu detracted considerably from the dining experience.

I mentioned this to the managing partner who checked in on us. Despite a packed house on Mothers Day, the restaurant was well staffed and ran pleasantly and efficiently. (We had the best server who said, "you're my favorite customers all night!" And I think she meant it.) Dinner was what I've come to expect from Carrabba's: really good! Per usual I ordered chicken Marsala with extra mushrooms, and angel hair pasta with garlic and olive oil. Wine has gone up a bit in price, but cab still comes in at less than $40 a bottle. It was a nice Mothers Day dinner even though (boo hoo) my daughter wasn't with me.
