It's been a couple of weeks since my family ate at Sabatini and it was time to do some Yelp reviews from my family's Italy trip. Our concierge recommended and booked a dinner for four for us. Looking at the Yelp reviews, I realize now that it was a bit of a dice roll, people seem to love or hate the place. Our experience was very good. While the service wasn't super attentive, it was attentive enough. The ambience was great, we had a table near an enclosed garden. It was beautiful to look at in the light at the start of dinner and the dark as our dinner ended. From a food standpoint, my wife and I selected the steak fiorentina meal for two. The thick steak, potatoes, an antipasto plate, and some cantucci cookies. My daughters added a cheese plate with honey and jam which was quite tasty. My younger daughter ordered salmon, when she didn't care for it, I ate that as well. Have to say, it was one of the tastier pieces of salmon that I've had. I'm not typically a salmon fan but they managed to make it taste rich. Before our main event, I had the steak tartare. It comes out under a smoke filled cloche, a bit of a show but the beef itself was delicious! As to the cooked version, my wife and I enjoyed it. Nicely cooked and seasoned with crunchy salt. If I had to knock it at all, we didn't get both sides of a "t-bone" but what we got was really good. Solid dinner for our family, not top dinner in Italy level but certainly a comfortable and memorable experience. read more

Such a shame- I have the place a 3 for the service and and ambiance. The food deserves a a 2. It has a beautiful, romantic atmosphere and the service was top notch. Now let's get to the food- subpar, we were recommended to go here for the Florentine steak and it was awful. The meat was so tough and fatty. Inedible. We went for the menu for 2 people for 125 euro which included a bread basket, meat and cheese board which also had one piece of bruschetta and one piece of chicken pate on toast. I've never tried chicken pate and I never will again- it smelled and tasted what I imagine dog food would taste like, maybe thats just my palate not liking it so I don't want to steer anyone wrong. The dessert was included which is a glass of Vin Santo wine and cantucci cookies. The wine smelled like vinegar and didn't taste any better. We dipped our cookie and left the rest. Maybe the wine had gone bad. I'm not sure. We are from NY/NJ and we have eaten at many steak restaurants and this was a total disappointment. I do not recommend going here for the steak, maybe try something else but we would not return. read more

We came here on a Sunday night about 7 pm. There were 2 other people in the restaurant besides my wife and I. We sat in the garden room. We were told this was the largest restaurant in Florence and seeing the empty rooms i around us I don't doubt it. The restaurant has seen better days. The decor was older and definitely needs a little love. The thing that irks me the most is when a restaurant does not take the time just to make sure all the lights work. Really how hard is it to change a lightbulb. As the sun went down the restaurant started to darken and more people came in. We ordered a rib eye, Osso Buco, spaghetti in meat sauce and grilled vegetables. I was really surprised the food was really good. What surprise me the most was how tender the rib eye was. The Osso Buco came off the bone easily. Love the spaghetti!! Ok maybe they put too much cheese on the grilled vegetables. Even my wife loved the red wine. They lost one star because of the decor and the service was somewhat lacking. But for good dinner at a great price this would be the place. My total meal was 101 Euros. read more

Very bad service experience this restaurant on our last night in florence, the was so rude and expected us to speak and read italian. The florentina steak we ordered turned to be a burnt steak, the owner pretended to cut the bill 45 euros but when i check my bank statement i was charged the full amount. We found this restaurant on a top 10 list on Trip Advisor. I'm so grateful that we were able to get a last minute reservation at Sabatini on our day trip to Florence. It was one of the best meals we had during our whole trip to Italy! All of it was delicious but the porchetta on the Antipasto Toscano con affettati misti e crostini tipici was to die for! My favorite meal that I'm still dreaming about was the Cappellacci di pecorino e pere con barbabietola. The best sauce was an excellent addition to the homemade cappellacci and paired excellently with the wine! Could not recommend more! read more

The decor is fantastic. Plus lots of space per table. Unfortunately the seats were not super comfortable. Service quality was great. Waiter has certainly got education to do his job. When I mentioned some small criticism towards the food he thanked me for it and told me that only with feedback are they able to become better = very professional. Food was above average but not the best we had in Florence. The portions were quite large I think. The toilet was very clean. read more

The service was horrible and it was because we were 8 African American women. Everybody else, who were white people, was being served and cared for except for us even though the food was extraordinary, most of it, good food and lousy service do not make a good combination. The young woman that was serving us acted as if we were invisible and the manager came over and really didn't solve the problem. In fact, one person complained about the tough and rubbery vegetables and he told her to just add some salt and pepper. Totally unacceptable. And we were not even offered a desert menu!! read more

Heard great things but did not experience any of them. Got an expensive but very low grade cut of meat that was poorly cooked (nearly raw in places with some rare/medium rare areas. The service was poor--had to get out of my chair to get the attention of the waiter who seemed disinterested in our party of 4. Contacted the restaurant several times and got no response, so decided to post this here as a warning. I'd like to think our meal was an aberration, but considering their total lack of even a courtesy response, I'm thinking they just don't care. No apology, no discount. $90 for awful, food and wine I didn't eat or drink. My one glass of wine was left. Dinner left. No TP in bathroom, seat dirty. Also charged $7 just to be there. Far below Average food, very overpriced -- charged $150 for a meal with 4 dishes without alcohol. Goat legs were as hard as a brick, impossible to cut with a knife. Salmon ridiculously overcooked, exceptionally dry, and absolutely tasteless. Pasta too salty. Refused to serve me wine I wanted. Somehow even the bread was hard and dry, with tasteless olive oil. I really regret going here. I have gone to restaurants all over the world, this is one of the worst at this price point. read more

Recommended as a great place to get the Florentine Steak, this place did not disappoint at all. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food - amazing. Maybe the best steak I have ever had, and that's saying something. Be mindful that the steaks come out pretty rare, but for this cut and preparation it was perfect. This place was awful! I ordered what was supposed to be the "wagyu" of Florence and it was more like a fatty ribeye that was bland and had zero taste. And they charged big bucks for it too. The wine was awful and the server didn't know anything about wine. They claim to be a fine dining restaurant but I could have went to McDonald's and had better food. And it was very expensive for the quality of food that they serve. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

We came here on our last night in Florence before moving to the next location of the tour. We were in a group of about 20 - had menus where we selected our appetizers (all came on one plate - about 4 different apps), our salad, our pasta, protein and dessert. A LOT of food! I have to say though the food was delicious - I loved the pasta and also the chicken. All traditional flavors of the region were included. We had an incredible experience here. It is a very nice restaurant (dress more up than down) and try to sit in the back near the garden and ceiling drapes to watch the lighting chance with the sunset. The uovo tartufo is an excellent appetizer. Getting a pasta to share is also a good idea as a "primi" plate- its very satisfying but will leave you with enough room for their incedible steaks and pasta second plates! read more

Quite disappointed with this venue that was highly recommended by a frequent patron. Hopefully it was a bad, off night. The place has a very pleasing atmosphere and we appreciated that the tables were not crammed on top of one another. The waiter, a pleasant older gentleman seemed to become increasingly frazzled as the evening wore on and there didn't seem to be other wait staff on duty. Beverages and appetizers were swiftly served and we thoroughly enjoyed the sweet cantaloupe with prosciutto, beef carpaccio over ridicchio, and buffalo mozzarella and tomato. It went downhill from there as we waited a very long time for our 2 pasta dishes and a tbone for 2 to arrive. The pasta dishes were barely warm and seemed to have been sitting a bit. The steak arrived quite rare despite ordering to medium. The steak along with a side order of potatoes were also cold and needed to be sent back. The steak, which was already sliced, was put back on the grill. It was too tough to eat! The potatoes arrived again cold. When the check arrived, we were stunned to see no adjustment for a $60 inedible steak. Upon complaining, he reduced the steak charge by $27, but did not honor the 20% coupon we got on YELP restaurant page. This was quite an expensive disappointing evening out. read more

One of the best dining experiences of our entire trip was at sabatinis! The staff treated us like we were the owner's best friends. VERY attentive, very professional, and most of all, very friendly. Daniel, our waiter, was absolutely amazing. Nothing was too much to ask. And often, he anticipated our wishes before we could ask. There were 6 in our party. We each ordered something different, and shared. ALL were spectacular! Of course, we also ordered the bistecca alla Fiorentina (Florence style steak). It was VERY expensive, but really good. Another waiter, alexandro, came to visit us numerous times; kidding with us, and helping Daniel. We really enjoyed bother waiters a lot. The atmosphere of the restaurant was equally nice. The co-owner who took our order was drunk and forgot to order my steak. He insulted people at the next table saying that steak should not be ordered well done and when they threatened to review him in trip advisor, he said f*** trip advisor.
