Almost everything is sold out by Saturday. You can call ahead to place an order or even ask her to set aside something. You cannot sit down and eat (small bakery.) The first time was for a french macaron that I happened to notice when I walked in and figured I'd try it. It was mango. The only flavor left, but it was delicious. Second time I came back for the macarons which were all gone. I decided to go with some vanilla cupcakes with buttercream frosting and chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting. My husband loves sweets and when we threw a party in my hometown this past weekend, the cake I had ordered just wasn't enough - so we headed to Joanna's to order a selection of treats. When we walked in, we were a little taken aback, as we're used to a "bakery" having huge display cases full of sweets and breads - not so here. BUT - don't be dismayed! We were quickly swept into a private room with a gentleman (I think the owner?) who sat down and asked us about what we wanted. Within 5 minutes, we had ordered (and sampled!) a delicious assortment of Italian cookies and pastries to pick up the next morning. My personal favorites were the pignollis, the lemon gennettes and the cream puffs filled with tiramusu filling. My husband's favorites were, well, all of them. I also just realized that you can order their cookies through mail-order, which is fantastic because I live in Boston. Joanna's gets two thumbs up in my book!
