Nearly 6pm on a Friday, walking in alone, knowing I could choose anything I wanted and then sit at a cozy little table to destroy every last crumb in absolute peace? That's my love language. When I arrived, I was person three of three in the small bakery. Quiet and calm, except for a man around my age and a younger boy chatting at a table about basically every topic under the sun. The vibe was gentle, warm, and perfectly unhurried. I took my time browsing their pastry cases--very full pastry cases--and genuinely could have eaten one of everything. But tonight was a dessert-only mission, so I narrowed it down to two knockout items. First up: the easiest decision I've made in months. A HUGE chocolate-dipped cannoli roll filled with hazelnut crème. This masterpiece was absolutely heavenly. The chocolate coating was thick and rich (the kind that snaps when you bite it). The cannoli shell stayed crunchy, which is rare and beautiful. And the hazelnut crème? Smooth, whipped, sweet in that refined way where you feel delighted, not diabetic. Perfection. My second pick was smaller but impossible to leave behind: a Pistachio roll with glossy sweet frosting on the outside, perched on a crunchy cannoli puff, absolutely stuffed with pistachio filling. And let me tell you--this filling was to die for. Sweet, silky, pistachio-forward without veering into "pure nut paste" territory. Pistachio in baked goods can be hit-or-miss for me, but Massimo's nailed the balance. Honestly, they've nailed everything I've ever had from here. My total came to $10.20 including tip, and the value felt spot-on for the size, flavor, and quality of the pastries. Plenty of free parking right out front since it's in a small strip mall. And can we talk about their hours? They're open 7am-7pm, Tuesday through Sunday (closed on Mondays), which is practically unheard of for local bakeries. Those long hours make Massimo's an unbeatable post-dinner dessert stop or a sweet late-afternoon pick-me-up. Friendly staff, gorgeous pastries, shelves of grab-and-go treats, and the peaceful ambiance of a bakery that doesn't rush you. My first solo trip definitely won't be my last. Went here with a friend recently. The espresso cannoli was amazing. The young lady who was running the store was the just the kindest young lady. She made me aware that her mother owns the bakery. Her mother should be really proud of her. My friend had the Oreo cannoli, she loved it so much she forgot to share . Wish the chairs were out, that's my only complaint. read more

Went here for the first time today after passing it many times to and from work. I was having a bad day and needed a pick me up. One dozen mini pastries for $20 and one pound of butter cookies for $13. Worth every dollar. Worth every carb. Grabbed an amazing assortment of 6 different types of pastries. It was so hard to decide which ones to pick. I ended up with a few chocolate, a few with fruit, a few with cream, and at least two tiny cannoli. Every one of them was amazing. Four of us shared the 12 pastries. Each having half of 6 minis and we were stuffed at the end. So, for $5 a person we enjoyed 6 different halves of mini-pastries (about two bites of each) with a nice cup of coffee at home. A bargain if you ask me. The cookies were buttery and soft, and lasted one about two days in my house. They were so good and a perfect side to a cup of coffee and propped up feet at the end of a loooooong day. I can't wait to return to try the savory dishes. Service is excellent. Parting is easy. Prices are fair. Definitely two thumbs up. read more

This is my favorite Italian Bakery in the area. Family owned and the desserts are amazing! Customer service is their forte. As they are always patient in explaining what everything is. We like to try everything. My favorite dessert of theirs is the cannoli filled lobster tail. The pastry is perfectly flaky and the cannoli filling is just the right balance of sweetness without being over sweet. Also got to try the pizza this time and the white broccoli surprised me. I usually like a light ricotta, and this had a lot of ricotta. So I was worried at first but I was surprised. They must make their own ricotta or something, as I very much enjoyed their white Sicilian over any other white pizza I have had in the area. I've enjoyed Massimo's and I haven't enjoyed it. Some items, mostly the one's with fruit I've had, have been to sweet. The food that is good is really good! But today I threw away $20 because we didn't like it. I can't afford to throw away good money. They don't label the trays of treats so I'm guessing what I'm getting. I pick based on what I think looks good. I thought I was getting a strawberry shortcake today, but my husband says the texture was off & I say it was to sweet. I recommend trying this place because I've had several delicious treats and just a couple that I didn't like. They have other food & coffee but I haven't tried any of it. read more

I had high hopes for this bakery; I was rooting for them and wanting to be impressed. The two women working behind the counter were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. My wife and I settled on splitting a Spumoni gelato ($8 for the only size offered); a couple of cannolis and a slice of pizza. Unlike any Spumoni that I've ever had, this gelato was lacking any hint of fruit---the one thing that really makes Spumoni so enjoyable. The gelato was very heavily whipped and too sweet for our taste and considering the price.....will definitely not order again The one large slice of pizza we bought looked great ($6) It was ricotta with cheese and spinach on a tomato sauce base The crust was thick and tasty, yet light The ricotta tasted fresh but the tomato "sauce"(?) tasted exactly like pure tomato paste---not the rich tomato flavor a pizza needs We saved our cannoli for desert tonight. Who can mess up a cannoli? Apparently Mossimo's can One bite and my wife and I looked at each other with disappointment The most important part of a cannoli, the shell, tasted of old olive oil and hid the flavor of the filling I scooped out the filling to taste it on its own, but the oily flavor from the shell ruined even the creamy filling We wanted to like Mossimo's; especially since our preferred Sicilian bakery on the Carlisle Pike closed up. Massimo's made the desserts for my wedding, and they were absolutely delicious! Everything they make that I've tried has been fantastic. I've been to most bakeries around the Harrisburg area, and this is by far my favorite. I moved here from NYC a few years ago, and thought I could never find good quality Italian baked goods in this area until Massimo's opened! They're the only authentic Italian bakery around that reminds me of the italian bakeries I used to go to in NYC, a quality of which I thought I wouldn't see once I moved to PA. I'm so so happy they moved into this area! Best rainbow cookies I've probably ever had. Great cannolis....great cookies of all types. Phenomenal. I'm hesitant to even post this because I want this place all to myself and my family. Their breads are every bit as good as the bread we get in North NJ and NYC. All the pastries are fresh and exactly like you are in little Italy. Something else you wouldn't think - their coffee, espresso, and cappuccino are all amazing. Went to the Hershey Farmers Market Saturday and purchased 4 Arancini rice balls and 2 Sfogliatelle. VERY disappointed when we got home. The guy working the counter said the rice ball had prosciutto when in fact it did not. It had regular boiled ham. They did not last a day in the refrigerator so they must have been old. Strick one. Then the sfolgliatelle were old and tasteless. People need to know good Italian foods and Massimo's is not. Sorry. read more

Update...please put prices and descriptions on the cases. Yes, you have the wall signs, but some have no prices even there. I had to keep asking how much is this? How much is that? No descriptions or names on anything, from pizza to different cannoli. I stopped asking questions so to not to be a pain. Three people with me got nothing because of these issues, not everyone is familiar with Italian pastries or rich enough to not worry about prices. read more

Recently opened new spot in Lemoyne at 304 Market! Who would ever think I would find Arancini in Lemoyne? I called ahead to check on pizza availability for my staff and was kindly informed that fresh pies would be ready in 15 minutes. I didn't have time for a tattoo or haircut nearby so I browsed the vintage store up the street (check that place out for funky finds and comic books). Parking is convenient in a lot just a few steps from the shop but don't plan on making a left out of there when leaving. Spent $43 at the location in Hershey. One of the items I purchased was a Lobster Tail for a dinner party I was having that night. When I went to serve the Lobster Tail I noticed the bottom was burnt. One of my guest did eat half of it after we cut the bottom off. I took the other half and the bottom we cut off back to the store the next day. I asked for my money back but the employee insisted it was not burnt and wouldn't refund my money. I will never shop there again and I suggest people check the items they purchase before they leave.
