I wrote a new review somewhere else on Yelp for this company. Not sure why there are two now. A friend of mine was going to hem two dresses for me to wear at my daughter's wedding. She did not have a rolled hem attachment, so looked up places that could do the work. She took the dresses to Rita's. They were to be completed by August 12th. I phoned them on August 15th to tell them I can come pick them up on the 18th or 19th. She had no idea of what dresses I was referring to. Then she remembered. Odd. I phoned on the 18th at 11:30 when they open to say I was on my way. She said "Okay". When I arrived one woman had my dress at the sewing machine. said, "Oh, you are not finished?". 'We saw the lining was longer than the dress, so needed to fi it. Can you come back at 1:00?' "No, I have to be at an appointment by then." Then I saw my other dress on the table and said I would try it on. This dress had only been cut for hemming and was not even started. So, two dresses were not ready. 'Can you come back at 1:00 for th dresses and they will be finished?'. "No; I cannot return at 1:00. Why are they not done?". (Something about her eyes. But, there were two other women working there, so I have no idea what was going on.). I try on the second dress which was on the table and the unfinished hem was uneven by over a inch and cut very roughly. I tried on the "finished" dress and the hem difference was 2 inches i the front!. And, it still did not have a hemmed lining. What was that woman doing to the lining she wasn't hemming it?? I told her I do not complain to workers; but this work was poor and unacceptable. I was getting quite upset - yet controlled. Very shoddy workmanship and carelessness. They had had my two dresses for two weeks, an were to be ready one week before I picked them up. Rita said they promise they would fix them and they would be ready in one week. I was clearly upset and getting teary, as they are for my daughter's wedding and I looked at over 40 dresses for several months. I said "How can you fix the hems, when they are already cut and cut too short in some places?". 'Don't worry, we will fix them for you.' After coming home, my husband and friend both said to go pick up the dresses as if they messed up the first time, do not trust them. There is no way to lengthen the short part of the hems, as the chiffon fabric had already been cut. I took them to another woman I have had work done and she agreed that there is no gooc way to "lengthen" the hems. So, I shall have to find lower flats to wear to the rehearsal dinner and wedding. I actually think Rita owes me two new dresses. I wish there was a way to attach a photo to show everyone the hem difference. It is so completely obvious, even my husband noticed and agreed. I do not comprehend how this business operates. Two women 'working' there and no comments from either of them. I asked Rita who cut the hems so carelessly. She said another woman who was not there today. I wonder if that is the truth? So, not done on time; carelessly cut off chiffon hem; uneven hemming. I certainly would like to know what was the reason for the poor customer service and work. Who cuts a hem so carelessly? Who doesn't even notice that the hems were obviously uneven Apparently others have been okay with Rita's Family Alterations. I have no idea why my dresse were so thoughtlessly and carelessly handled. I can only advise to not use this place, other than perhaps sewing on a button (if they can sew in the correct place). I am so very upset with how my long, flowing, chiffon dresses for my daughter's wedding have been abused and carelessly treated. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I got several items tailored for myself my mom and my kids. 1st of all they did not give me my things on time than when they were finally done the blouse was not fitted correctly, I told them that it was not right and they tried to assure me that it would be fine. My event was the next day. I ended up wearing it and had to use safety pins to make my outfit work. I called post event and the tailor assured me that I could come back and have the blouse fixed since I was not happy with it. I called back several times since and now have been told that she will not fix it unless I am charged a 2nd time. If you look at reviews and the responses from the owner you will see how rude they are. For this reason alone and many others save yourself the headache and go to a place who knows how to tailor and how to be professional and on time. read more

Poor service. Lady at front is really greedy. For first time when I went there for alteration of my shirt she took $50. And another time for stitching a suite she took $200 from me and my friend. And today I went for a small alteration. I just asked her to make a stitch on my trouser and she asked for $20. And then she was arguing with me. She have attitude issue because she don't know how to treat a customer. She is really really rude aunty. read more

The guy does really good work but gets upset if you call him on a mistake.He is mostly never there. His wife doesn't do any sewing and she just sits in the shop while he is out. We went to Rita for some emergency sewing work for our business after having had a terrible experience with another local tailor (Delta Tailors and Men's Wear) and we were pleasantly surprised. It is not an ideal location in that you can't turn into the place if travelling south on Scott Road, but she's worth it. The owner takes pride in her work. She took our emergency job and turned it around in a day for a reasonable price. And she isn't as expensive as the other tailor at which we had the bad experience. Rita is a kindly lady and I highly recommend her for any sewing services you need. read more

This is a cash only business. The price was good for the service offered. I had two pants hemmed and a zipper replaced. This came to 30 dollars (tax included, or not paid). The business is really cramped, and she doesn't really have a proper fitting room for changing. I was anxious about not getting a work ticket, indicating what I'd dropped off and what was being done. When I went to pick up my pants... Another Customer Was Sitting On Them. Rita had left my clothes on her coach, and someone else came in and sat down right on them. I felt the hems on my pants weren't very well done -they were pretty rippled and the stitches were somewhat visible. read more

Steven is phenomenal. He does beautiful, precise work and goes above and beyond for his customers. I brought a full length chiffon gown to him to be altered. The turn around time was quick, the work was perfect, and he stuck to the price originally quoted, which was much lower than two other places I inquired at. He met me in the shop for multiple fittings including twice on his days off. Incredibly satisfied! read more

Rita altered my wedding dress and took it from a size 12 to a size 4. Another establishment was not sure if they could even do it and we're going to charge me $650.00 and Rita confidently did it for only $250.00. When the dress didn't fit how I wanted she changed it within a couple of days and did not charge me extra for making the adjustments. It is perfect now. read more

I'm extremely happy with the work done by Steven, Rita and their staff as they are very friendly, have loads of work experience and are reasonably priced. They take tremendous pride in their profession by doing a high quality job and giving their sincere opinions and advice so that you will look / feel your best. The clothes I brought in were so precisely well sewned that you can't even tell it had been altered lol... I will go back to them as well as recommend them to my friends and family. read more

Rita was great. Did a great job on the alterations on my pants. And what she charges is more than fair.

Rita is amazing! I had bought a pleated dress online and it ended up being too loose so I took it to Rita two weeks before the event. She told me how much it was going to cost immediately and after the first week she gave me a call to update me on her progress. She had the dress ready for me on time and now it fits like a glove. She really is a very sweet lady and does an amazing job. I will definitely go back to her for future alterations :) read more

I dropped off a shirt to be altered for Father's Day two weeks before the agreed due date. Not only was it not done on time, she charged me full price. Save yourself a headache and go somewhere else. read more

Found this alterations shop on the way home from the mall. Needed to have my pants Hemmed for the upcoming weekend. Rita was able to do the work for a very reasonable price and actually used the original hem. Thanks for giving me the option, It looks way better this way. I will be back for sure. read more
