Recently remodeled and a great spot to have at the top of Lake where a lot of people live, with little to walk to. The staff here are all super friendly and almost always greet me when I walk in. Ample supply of refrigerated items, snacks and ICE CREAM CONES just like the old days. The have an ok beer and wine selection and the hard liquor is a little more vast. Keep an eye out for sale items, they alternate frequently so you may come in one day and find SKYY vodka marked in half, and then Titos organic vodka next time marked in half. The store is very pricey on everything outside of food / drink, however, they always have specific items at great prices. since I live right by here i may pop in to cruise the aisles for sales. They may have Tide marked down one day, Windex one day, Softsoap one day, vitamin supplements one day.......and so on. All Christmas items are 75% off on the 26th. Last but not least, the pharmacy. No problems, I can order refills online and walk over a few minutes later and they are ready. Staff is friendly and helpful if needed. Cool blood pressure machine there. I like to test my skills at that when I come through. We're also getting some kind of organic produce store next to Rite Aid opening soon. Looking forward to that. Great Mexican Food restaurant and a new park right across the street. This area is up and coming and will all be 7 figure housing soon. read more

Everyone in the store denies it - "we're just having an issue with our vendors" - but there's almost nothing on the shelves (except for seasonal stuff) and it's apparent this location will soon close. My wife had a vaccine shot last week and was told on the phone and by a pharmacist in store that she should come in after 1pm as there are two pharmacists available and the shot can be administered quickly. She did go and get her shot. Fast forward to yesterday...it was 1:27pm when we both went for my vaccination. The woman told us that they do not give shots from 1pm-3pm...completly contradictory to last weeks information. I understand things change but she started to berate us and twice addressed us with "NO NO NO NO NO". I stoped her and told her she was extremely rude and treating us as if we are making things up. She told me "Who told you this" I said the pharmacist. "Well we're all on the same page here". To say that she was rude and condescending would be an understatement. Who allows someone like that to work there? We Called Riteaid on Washington and Allen and they said come on in. What a different atmosphere. Welcoming, cordial and respectful. While in line to pick up a prescription refill, I witnessed one pharmacy worker yell at two older female customers in a row for no reason. Pharmacy "takeouts" are busier than The Golden Arches during the national Dollar meal days. Pharmacy Techs are constantly in motion, of service to the Pharmacist (s) , the telephone, general public in search of their script refill, and let's not forget the Techs have to be on the phone with insurance providers while dealing with all of the above aforementioned. I just went to pick up some medication for my husband and some Covid tests. I paid for both at the pharmacy counter, then picked up a couple of bottles of vitamins which I took to the front to purchase. The clerk asked me if I'd paid for my other items. I said yes. Then she asked me again if I'd paid for the two Covid tests I was holding. I said yes. The prescription was in a paper Rite Aid bag, but the tests weren't (not my choice, just how I was given the items after I paid for them). I've never stolen anything in my life and really don't appreciate being asked twice if I paid for items. Maybe I should face showed her the receipt to prove it but I shouldn't have to. Echoing the other reviews on the poor customer service at the pharmacy. I've been picking up medications on a monthly basis at various pharmacies for 15+ years and the Altadena Rite Aid has the most hostile customer service I've encountered. I'm pretty understanding of the many demands and stress that come with working a customer service job, but the treatment many of these pharmacists and techs have towards customers is completely inappropriate, no matter how stressful of a day your having. I've been hung up on over the phone about a dozen times, which leaves me having to call back to ask the rest of my questions. There have been 2 or 3 times when I've ordered a medication only to never have it actually be placed, resulting in me having to call back and place a rush order, while stressing out hoping my medication arrives on time so that I don't miss a dose, even though I did my part of placing my order on time. To management: please staff this place appropriately, provide training on appropriate customer service to your pharmacy workers, and revamp your systems to ensure medication orders don't fall through the cracks. Until then, I'll be transferring my prescriptions to another pharmacy. No one deserves to be treated with such hostility or have to deal with such inept workers. read more

Treated so rudely at the pharmacy, I had to comment. Something is wrong with this picture. The girl with pinkish hair was so cruel when I was slow to recall a pertinent fact, that it occurred to me that management must be treating employees in a similar fashion. In addition, pharmacist giving me the vaccine looked miserable - would not smile or offer even a hint of kindness. Very sour faces for these two pharmacy employees. First off I need to explain the scenario: This store is NOT my regular store. I came to pick up an on-line order. 1. This one is strictly on principle: I was arbitrarily charged the 10 cent bag fee that I didn't need or request by the system. I didn't even need one because it was only two bottles of supplements. I am not extreme about recycling but I am eco conscientious. I carry in my shopping bags and try to recycle. I will absolutely pay the 10 cents fee to purchase a bag IF I need it. Who ever pulled the order out it into a bag. 2. I refused to take the bag and contribute more waste so I told them that I wanted the fee refunded and I don't want the bag. The poor guy who checked me out seems new but Rafaela (sp), another cashier basically told me it is what it is and that I selected it when I made the order. I told her I did no such thing and I refuse to pay for it on principle. She finally admitted that it was their "system" and told the guy to give me 10 cents (I decided to buy a small hand sanitizer - impulse buy while I was in line) She don't even try to be courteous, not a bit of customer service. 3. It's a good thing I insisted on not taking the bag because I only got one item instead of the two that I ordered. It took two calls to someone (manager or assistant manager) to get her to the front. It took another few minutes to figure out something on a handheld, but she finally went back and got me my other item. read more

The pharmacy never has any medication in stock. The pharmacist are no help and offer no solutions to the problem. I had surgery went to get the pain medication they said they don't have it and "may" have it the next day after 2pm. I asked if I can pick it up at a different pharmacy they said they couldn't help me with that and suggested I wait till the next day and check with them. Albeit I'm in pain from a fracture surgery. I went to pick up my prescription that I had called in the previous day. The pharmacist with the bright colored hair said she could have it ready in five minutes. I saw that a long line was forming so five minutes was improbable. I left and returned two hours later. The prescription still wasn't ready. If she had been civil, the situation would have been more tolerable than the appalling way she behaved. She should not work with people. read more

Since my disappointing and time draining experience spent trying to get curbside service via the app, I've experienced the following; Five calls to the customer service desk at RiteAid - all resulting in absolutely nothing. I haven't yet received a refund for items that I paid for and didn't receive - and it's been three weeks. I'm at the point now where I discourage anyone that I can to not use the RiteAid app or do business with RiteAid. The disconnect between the customer, the app, the store management and RiteAid corporate is unbelievable. Epilogue: It took three months to finally resolve the Altadena RiteAid "issue" and it took my credit card company to do so. RiteAid's "crack research team" had determined that I didn't deserve a refund because they had determined that they hadn't received funds. The proof of the nonexistent refund was a screenshot emailed of a refund authorization in the wrong amount of money. I sent that screenshot to my bank. My bank verified that they had received my funds and that the funds had not been refunded. Then when I complained to RiteAid's customer service team for the 14th time, RiteAid's "crack research team" then sent my bank a copy of their refund and return policy. It would have been a laughable response, (had it not been received by me), because I'd never received any of the products that I'd paid for, as the purchase that I'd made was cancelled 5 minutes after I'd made the purchase; therefore there was no way to apply their return or refund policy and they'd promised to refund my funds the day that the sale was made and the order cancelled. They kept stating that I hadn't paid anything, though my bank verified that I had paid funds to RiteAid on July 24th, 2021. Still nothing as of late October 2021. The management at Altadena RiteAid are...., select your adjective. The customer service team are...,select your adjective. The "research team" are Keystone Cops laughable and appear not to know what research consists of if one dropped a very big Thesaurus on top of them. Questions, I have questions: Why would a major multi-billion dollar corporation have customer service contact email addresses on their app and website that are inactive? How could a major multi-billion dollar corporation release a subpar app to the public and (apparently) not train management and staff on how it works? Why are they so woefully disorganized and uninformed? I have resolved to never shop at the Altadena RiteAid under any circumstances. read more

This pharmacy is awful! Very unprofessional, the pharmacy technicians are extremely rude and no understanding of customer service. Also very slow, always have to wait even if there is not a line, the staff ignores you. Don't dare ask a question, it is an imposition and their demeanor reflects it. Based on the employees conduct, the cultural at this location is not the customer service friendly; no interactive skills, not courteous, impatient, which should be a requirement working in a pharmacy. That is why I really wanted to write a Yelp review for this Rite Aid pharmacy location because they have been so incredibly helpful to me and my family during this time. Rey and Randi are especially kind. From finding medication at alternate locations if they don't have it in stock, applying discounts to expensive medication whenever possible, providing COVID tests and vaccines, to being generally helpful in a frustrating period of time. If I could give a lower rating than 1, I certainly would. I've gone to this location in the past and had bad experiences each time. I usually only went there because of their proximity to my own home and the hours that they were open (I had a couple of late night emergencies/needs) but after today, I'll never go here again. I find a pharmacy technician at this location to be extremely rude. Her name is RANDY. The way she answers the phone, she gives attitude and is not friendly at all. The times I have encountered her when picking up my prescription, she had me waiting. One time she told me my prescription would be ready by 4pm. I arrived and it wasn't even ready by that time. Mind you, I called hours in advance which allows them time to prepare it. I had to wait an additional 20 more minutes. It seems like she did not even prioritize it whatsoever. Another time, she told me my prescription will be ready by the afternoon. I called for a status and another pharmacy technician said it was not ready, however that person will get it ready now. I wish Randy would be more proactive and compassionate about the patients calling in for their prescription. read more

My local Rite Aid that supplies my medical prescriptions and impulsive buying. Their pharmacy staff is efficient and friendly along with the store staff who are always eager to assist you if you need any help finding stuff. My prescriptions are automatically refilled. How amazing?! Perfect for a Diabetic like myself who has 101 things on her list and would always forget or be to lazy to call in a refill. I simply get a text when they're ready for pick up. Keep an eye out for items on sale especially after major holidays/seasons. For example after Halloween items can reach up to 75% off. Same for Valentines Day, Christmas, etc. Don't forget your phone number- without your phone number associated with the Rite Aid card you do not get the sale prices (unless the item is on clearance). Once you reach Gold Status you get 20% off regular priced items. Parking is ample too. It is shared with other businesses but plenty of parking to go around. read more

Had an appointment for A Covid19 Booster vaccination today, made the appointment online confirmed due to being immunocompromised i would qualify for the 3rd Vaccine shot. From the beginning did not feel welcomed, just an unfriendly attitude at the pharmacy, which is fine, may be the lady that helped me was having a bad day, who knows. She asked what I was there for, told her for a booster shot, she asked if I was immunocompromised, told her yes I am, and she said what is it? told her what my medical condition is, I felt the question was totally out of line to ask me in the open what Illness I have to confirm I was immunocompromised. I regret not telling her it was none of her business. I feel my health condition privacy was totally violated, her explanation was some people don't know what being immunocompromised means. I feel this is no excuse, after the California Governor stated that anyone that wants a booster shot, don't turn them away. In my case I do qualify, since I do have a legit qualification. Due to the negative energy from this place, I decided not to take the Booster shot at this location. or any other Rite Aid. My letter to rite aid. I am furious to have experienced the treatment at Store #05526 from the pharmacy employee with pastel blue or lavender hair. I am a 51 year old woman who has been working at very close contact with the public through the covid 19 pandemic. Recently, I have been advised by several friends and news sources to go to a rite aid or cvs just before closing and alert them I would like any vaccine that will be thrown away at the end of the day. I arrived at the rite aid at 8:45pm, there was no line or anyone near the pharmacy when I was called to the window. I asked if they were administering covid vaccines, the woman replied "we're out" and something to the effect of "we have a list we call people from". I asked if I could be added to the list and she said "are you a patient here", I said "yes". She said "come down here" and waved me to the "drop off" window. Again she asked me if I am a patient there and I answered "yes" because I have gotten several prescriptions filled at this pharmacy as it's the closest to my home. She asked for my date of birth and name, asked if I am "---" to which I replied "no that's not me". She then asked the spelling of my name, I gave it to her and she replied "you're not in the system, you have to be a patient here, ARE YOU a regular patient here?". I replied "I don't have regular on-going prescriptions but I get prescriptions filled here". She said "well, you're not here and you have to be a REGULAR PATIENT here. This is a corporate generated list and you aren't on here.". I stood stunned for a moment at her condescending tone (which is difficult to portray in writing). Her tone hit like an attempt to shame me, her condescension was abhorrent. She offered no explanation or suggestion for me a year into a global pandemic- all this as a representative of Rite-Aid's "medical professional" team. As a mature woman and mother of twins, I have experienced thousands of medical teams of all positions. I am acutely aware of what medical professionals have been through in the past year and am willing to give a lot of space because of this fact. However, this woman's passive aggressiveness, condescension, lack of care and rudeness was astounding. If rite aid does have this policy of only serving "regular patients" in the middle of this pandemic, you had better do some training to the people representing your company- train them to at least APPEAR to care about your customers. I'll go out of my way to avoid any Rite aid ever again because of this awful experience. @riteaid - my first action after this experience was an email to corporate. Now I know. I work at JPL and I would stop by and get ice cream from time to time. Today I stopped by and there were some people ahead of me who were taking a minute. I laid back and waited.....then I get my ice cream and go get in line to pay. I am behind the same folks from before. The older guy paid for his stuff, then the younger guy determines he gets wrong water. He gets out of line to go check in the case. I ask cashier if I can pay and go - while she's smiling she's being nasty asking, "are you in a hurry?". Then another female opens a line, and she was even nastier. I laid back at the ice cream counter, laid back in line and then when I get tired it's an issue? No its not because it takes only "1" time with me and that was it. Whether I am in a hurry or not isn't the point, but I had been pretty patient up to that point. Terrible pharmacy, rude staff. They are open until 9 PM, but, you may walk in and there's no pharmacist So in essence they are closed because they are on break. So you have to wait in line with the other angry customers surprised that they can't get their prescriptions when they were told they are ready via text. Took me 45 minutes, I was very sick, 101° temperature. No apologies very rude. Three nights later the same thing happened at a different time? WTF? Week later, day before a procedure and I had been prescribed Vicodin (6 of them), a simple prescription right? I hand her the script, she rudely says "we don't have that, you'll have it in 7 days", she gave me a lame excuse that nobody carries Vicodin. I went right down to CVS and had it filled immediately w/no problem. Transferring medications to another pharmacy: I had just transferred my prescriptions from CVS 4 weeks prior, I was thinking that it would be more convenient after a CVS had closed, so I wanted to go back. I told her I wanted to have my prescriptions transferred back she gave me attitude "do what you want", BUT we do NOT transfer" said t I have to call every single time I want one of my prescriptions transferred over, BUT they sure had all of mine transferred to them. She had the gonads to call me later and try to apologize bec CVS requested the transfer that they DENIED. PS I also tried to call the manager several times they will not answer the telephone, I was on hold for 15 minutes once in 30 minutes ones. One time disconnected abruptly for no reason the other I was told that she was just too busy to take my call. CVS pharmacist is astonished! read more

The pharmacy service here is terrible, to the point of being medically dangerous. I have courtesy refill on my prescription, and I frequently end up missing a dose (or more) because the refill is never ready on time. They always give the same excuse "we haven't heard back from your doctor". I've known my doctor for years, so I believe her when she tells me that they never actually called her. Not even once. They also frequently substitute generics on prescriptions that are explicitly marked "do not substitute". Honestly, the only reason I've tolerated the staggering incompetence of the pharmacy staff at this branch as long as I have is because they're just up the street from me (also, cause they're nice, and I hate being mean to people who are nice to me if I can avoid it).
