This review is strictly regarding the PHARMACY. The employees working in the back, have been pretty rude, giving me attitude when asking about my concerns about 1. my prescriptions not being ready 2. common insurance questions 3. not giving me clear answers from the get-go to where i had to ask the same question more than once. I called a day prior about a prescription and a man said he would schedule it to be filled the following day, great! Here I am, waiting for a call, but 4p comes along and nothing, so I decide to call and ask about my prescription--the woman who answered, was confused and when it was finally sorted, I asked how long it would take (usually it only takes 10-20min). She then responded, a COUPLE HOURS. for 2 COMMON pills. So then I'm like "Okay. So would it be ready by 6?" She says "um. yea" I then say, "Would you mind calling me when it's ready?" and she responds, "um.... I can send you a text?" "that would he great, thank you!" She then was still short with me--said "yup" twice and hung up! I just don't know where the bedside manners are. I've felt nothing, but JUDGED, when, in my opinion, the clients should feel the most welcome, ESPECIALLY when picking up medication for any condition/illness. absolutely unacceptable. 1000% changing my pharmacy after this experience. read more

This place has really improved since my last review. Remodeling has completed. The customer service is much better. I really like how they have free samples sometimes in the cosmetics section and pharmacy area. The new card (Plenti) is a must have! This is for the Pharmacy. The staff here is always rude but that's ok with me but when the male Pharmacist gave my 80 year old grandma covid vaccine. Terrible bed side manners. He seem like he don't want to be bother . Do you self a favor and get it somewhere else. He didn't want to create a covid card for my grandmas booster instead wrote in down in a photo Copy of her previous covid vaccine from Kaiser. This is standard, if pt don't bring their card give them a new card only and write only the vaccine that was given at that time. I am a nurse of 16 years and believe me when I said this Male Pharmacist have no bedside manner. Then after I told him that he is rude he tried to chase us outside telling me " He did his best" That's when I know this person don't know how to talk to patients or maybe he is just discriminating against us because we are Asian if he is treating other people with respect. No line for filling your prescriptions! What a concept! Pros: No waiting in lines most times I've been there. Lots of other stores in walking distance if you want to shop while you wait such as Vons, La Canada Books & Toys and now Janes Cakes if you want to take a cake decorating class. The staff are friendly and helpful. That is hard to find. Cons: It isn't a really big store and the space for inventory is limited. If they don't have what you need they can order it. If you don't want to wait in a long line at CVS then come here. read more

Worst experience ever. Every time they make mistakes on medications. They are either not ready on time or wrong medication is sent.

If it were possible to give negative stars I would. Incompetent, unprofessional, mistake-ridden, nasty, slow with absolutely no self-awareness. Couldn't fill the original script due to a "glitch" in their systen. A week later with surgery pending that day, they refused to fill a new post-surgical pain medication because they had managed to belatedly fill the first one and could not process two. Of course we were informed that the second script was ready yesterday. Really? With no one else in line we were told they were too busy to process the new meds and we should come back in an hour. And all of this said with a really snotty and dismissive attitude...just what you want when you are headed into surgery and not sure if you will have access to pain meds when you get home. No compassion, no courtesy, no ability to do their jobs. Find another pharmacy! read more

I like this Rite Aid because it's been remodeled so you don't feel like slitting your wrists when you walk inside like other drug stores. They also have Thrifty's ice cream, which is the bomb. The best part about Thrifty's ice cream is they scoop it out in one solid cylinder. Mmmmm. Cylindrical ice cream. Anyway, I bought a calendar at Rite Aid. A cat yoga calendar! This store and the products are basically the same as the other Rite Aids. The staff is friendly enough. The store is located in a shopping plaza with several other businesses including Gelsons, so you can shop at more than one place without ever leaving the parking lot. tip- this location is in the process of remodeling, so merchandise is a bit sparse and they are not offering ice cream by the scoop until the process is complete read more

I recently moved to LaCanada, and was disappointed from the get-go w/ this Rite Aid pharmacy. Their customer service was lousy, mostly rude pharmacists. Then, when picking up a refill that was called in the night before, I was told it wasn't ready and doctor needed to be called, although they hadn't bothered calling doctor or me. I was out of pills and asked for 1 or 2 until I could make it back and they refused. At that time, I switched to Walgreens; good move! Not sure what all the animosity is towards this particular Rite Aid. I mean, it's a Rite Aid and you know what to expect when you go in here. You pretty much have a huge selection of everything you need (or don't need) from pharmaceuticals, to alcoholic beverages to haircare products. Who does their Christmas shopping here? Apparently some people because they still have some leftover Christmas things around. I found this location to be well stocked and when I had a question, people accurately answered them with the sense that they actually liked life. I found the store to be clean and neatly organized. What I was surprised to actually see was a Thrifty ice cream inside. I thought these had disappeared along with the store! I remember as a young child we used to get their famous ice cream. This review is for the rite aid PHARMACY. In good conscience, I implore anyone to NOT go to this pharmacy if you need a prescription filled. My friend was too nice to report the pharmacy staff, especially the pharmacist JESSICA. But, this is a caution to others who may ever think of getting your scripts filled here. As a new patient who needed to have her insulin refilled, my friend decided on this store mainly because of convenience. Because of insurance problems, she had run out of all her insulin and was in a scramble to get things sorted out so she wouldn't go another day without a dose. When she was met with the pharmacist upon picking up her medicine (again, this is for insulin... pretty important, right?), she was met with disrespect, unnecessary attitude and extremely rude behavior from the pharmacist (and the rest of the staff to be honest). When picking up her insulin, Jessica told her it was "the same thing as before" (she was being switched from lantus to basaglar, which is therapeutically the same but still has a different name). She didn't bother to counsel, answer any questions or treat her like a patient. Luckily, my friend is knowledgeable about her medicine. Imagine if this is a patient that might require more guidance and is treated with this dismissive non counseling attitude and gives themselves the wrong dose of insulin- I don't know how this pharmacist Jessica is allowed to practice with a license, but her utter disregard for patient care could end up in someone being harmed someday. I would hope if she had family members going to the pharmacy to pick up medicine that they wouldn't be treated in the same manner she treats her patients. As a pharmacist myself, who entered into the field with the promise to put the patient first and do no harm, It is appalling that this pharmacist (JESSICA) does not uphold this standard. I shop here a lot for various things like ice cream, make-up, beer, over-the-counter drugs, and other consumer goods. I love the assortment of merchandise. I just have one gripe... BEER SALES: They have GREAT beer sales. HOWEVER, you need to pay attention when you're being rung up at the cashier. My husband just got back, bought a 12-pack of Newcastle. He was charged $17.99 and the in-store flyer said they were on sale for $11.99. This has happened to us both several times. I don't know if the computers just don't sync up with their corporate office. Be forewarned! I'm not sure if it's like that with other alcohol purchases. I will continue to shop there because I like the assortment and it's close to where I go grocery shopping. I hope they fix this pricing problem because it happens way too often. read more

The people working in the pharmacy have the worst attitude and disposition. I shouldn't have but I gave them another chance recently when I had a prescription that CVS was unable to fill. It was for my child who had just had oral surgery. It was for a strong painkiller. The first woman was irritated that I had a prescription to fill, the second woman barked at me and I was subject to interrogation by the man as to whether this was the only prescription I'd been given, announcing that he had to verify with the doctor. All I know is that there's a couple of female pharmacists here that are complete bitches! Not only rude, but incompetent as well. Walking through the isles to go pick up my prescription, I hear a customer yelling at the pharmacy counter (don't know why, but I heard her threaten to take her prescription elsewhere, so probably cause of bad service). So I pick up my prescription, as I'm signing for it I hear the pharmacist say "thank you very much", I look back up to thank her, and I've never seen such a neutral, disgusted, "I hate my job" face in my life! So I get back home, open up the bag only to find 1 month's supply of pills when my prescription is for a 3 month supply. It even says so on the sticker! How did they manage to mess that one up?! Future potential RITE AID PHARMACY customers in La Canada, you are better off taking your services to CVS where service is awesome and it's 24 hours. I think it's about time I do that. I have to say that I am an extremely patient and forgiving person, but this place tries mine to its boiling point. This is by far THE WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD IN LA CANADA or anywhere in fact. The pharmacists (2 ladies - I didnt catch their name) that work here are so incompetent I don't know how they still have their jobs. Because they couldn't do their jobs correctly, they took out their incompetence on ME, the customer. 8:40 PM: I was already frustrated to begin with because I was mislead into believing that my prescription would be ready by the afternoon. All I'd have to do is walk in, pay, and then leave. I called in at 10AM and I was in line at 8:40 PM. She had to put my prescription together then because it hadn't been done yet. I was waiting for my prescriptions, not moving an inch, and the lady at the cash register told me not to go anywhere because they were closing soon in the rudest tone. HELLO, had to you done your job and completed my prescription through out the day and not leave it off until the last minute, the other lady wouldn't have to be counting pills when it's time to clock out. Then I had to waste more time because I wasn't given the correct dose. We were reviewing the prescription pad because I was under the assumption I would be getting a months prescription as I always do. The doctor had told me the same. The asian lady continues to stand there and ask me why I was getting so upset when there was nothing she could do because the doctor's office had already closed to confirm my assumptions. Who the hell says that to their customer? She continues to tell me that the prescriptions can only be ready in advance if it was sent directly from the doctor's office. I remember double checking with the pharmacist on the phone that the fax was good enough as a substitute until I brought in my originals at pick up. Plus, if you had trained your employees to relay the correct information instead of wanting to get off the phone as soon as possible, I would've had the doctor's office fax it instead of myself. I had faxed in my prescription around 10AM. She obviously had no intention of doing a follow up nor was my prescription going to be ready as she told me on the phone if my prescription wasn't even ready by 8:40PM that same night. Had one of the pharmacist done a follow up to confirm, this whole situation could have been avoided. But what angers me the most is that my family and I have been coming to this pharmacy for more years than I can count because it's so close to our house. Their customer service has always been bad, but now it's so terrible I can't stand it anymore (except for the male there.) I'd rather drive those extra miles to CVS and be treated with respect as customers should be treated with. STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE. read more

I will NEVER spend a dime in any Rite Aid ever again, after the horrible experience I had at the La Canada Rite Aid. I should have written this much sooner, but I've had my hands full with caring for my elderly mother. My mother ended up in the hospital, due to their rude, un-helpful pharmacy staff. As with so many others commenting here, I had a really bad experience with the two female pharmacists, a few years back. My elderly mother had had a stroke about 6 months before. The pharmacy kept insisting they never got a re-fill perscription from her doctor. The doctors office insisted they had faxed the info, but continued to re-fax it, two more times. Even after I double checking fax number make sure it was correct, I was told the by the pharmacists they did not receive the info. After several days of daily visits to Rite Aid, I asked the managing pharmacist to call the doctors office to check with her doctors, to resolve the problem. She growled at me "We don't do that!", turned her back to me, and refused to speak to me any more. In the end, those horrible, un-professional women wasted 7 days. But the worst part is, my mother ended up in the hospital over the weekend, with a small heart attack. When I asked the doctor if the lack of medication caused it, he said "It CERTAINLY didn't help". Now I go to Flintridge Pharmacy. They are always polite and professional. Any time there is a problem, they volunteer to call the Doctor's office to get the problem cleared up, usually that day. The Rite Aid pharmacy on 647 foothill blvd in La Canada has the worst customer service ever. Especially, the female pharmacy staffs at the pharmacy always give different answers for the same prescription. Their tone and manner are rude and degrading as if they look down at you. They make my mom feel so bad even though she feels sick. she gets scared to go to this stupid pharmacy (which is closest to her home). If she's feeling too sick, she has to drive out further to another pharmacy location because this location almost always makes her go back for different reasons with the same prescription. They talk to her in this "don't you know anything about this medicine or how the insurance works?" tone which makes me mad! HAVE SOME RESPECT YOU B*&^%! WHO TAUGHT YOU TO TREAT ELDERLY THAT WAY??!? IF SHE KNEW EVERYTHING, SHE WOULDN'T BE ASKING YOU!" They don't care about customers and I'm starting to question if such treatment is based on discrimination on minority. I'm new to the area and went to the closest pharmacy which is in this rite aid. My doctor had called in a prescription an hour beforehand and confirmed that with me. I was really sick and needed this to take ten minutes max. I run in and wait for fifteen minutes to get to the front desk in line. They can't find any information on me so I ask them if they checked the doctor voicemail. They didn't and sure enough there are messages but no one knows how to answer them and I have to come back in 20. So i do and wait in line again only to be told not even the manager can get to the messages! So they have to call my doctor. I asked them to please at least enter my addy and insurance in while I wait and they finally agreed. Then I had to wait thru another 3 people to be helped. It took an hour and a half to get my prescription. There were 3 of them there and I think the one poor dude at the front needs to be trained on more so he can help out. Seemed like he didn't have jurisdiction to jump in on much. I will not use this place again but hope they can fix this issue. I was not the only one pissed...at least four other people were having similar issues. read more
