Honestly, I didn't even know what a compounding pharmacy was until I got my most recent…read moreprescription. I was used to getting my prescription filled at pharmacies that most folks use like Rite Aid, Walgreens, QVC, and the like. My primary doctor prescribed a medicine that would have taken some serious hoop jumping in order to get my insurance to cover it. And the odds of it being denied were pretty high anyway. So they recommended Cascade Specialty Pharmacy because they would fill the prescription without the need for an insurance "prior authorization ", and the formula would be affordable. That kind of made me nervous until I arrived and got my questions answered. By happenstance, I was met in the parking lot by the owner of the pharmacy, Michelle. I was trying to get my walker out of my car, and she asked if I needed help. Normally I don't, but for some reason I said yes, not even knowing who she was. Michelle, and I chatted it up on my way into the pharmacy. As I slowly pushed my walker, she was completely patient with the time it was taking me to get to the door. That's when I knew I was in good hands. I asked Michelle to explain the difference between her compounding pharmacy versus a "regular " pharmacy. She explained that in their sterile environment they make/mix the product ingredients. Kind of like the old fashioned way that meds were concocted. Essentially, they make generic brands on site of the pharmaceuticals. They may add an additional complex/drug to enhance a particular prescription but essentially it is the hand mixing on site that make the difference mostly. Well, I think that's how I understand it. I have to say Michelle was absolutely awesome! She made sure that every step of my process was impeccable and that I was super comfortable. Michelle introduced me to the line of employees that we're working behind the counter. Each and every one of them greeted me with an amazing smile and a warm hello and welcome. The interior of the pharmacy was immaculate. I mean impeccable. Super clean, spacious, and welcoming. Everyone was friendly. Michelle helped me with my paperwork. She explained every step of the process, including that the pharmacist would sit down with me to go over my new prescription. It's kind of strange, but I actually felt honored to be so well taken care of from the "get go". I paid for my prescription. I sat down for just a few minutes until the pharmacist, Asia, came over and talked to me. She too was very sweet, very knowledgeable, and adroit at explaining what I was to do to effectively use my new medication. And then Michelle found me again as I was on my way out. She walked me back to my car! She took the time to make sure that me and my walker got safely back to my car. I'm still impressed and this experience was a few days ago. On the way to my car, there was a woman walking up the street with her dog. Michelle, call out her name and waved at her. She came over with her dog to say hi. Michelle took the time to introduce me to this woman. I learned that Michelle and her husband own another pharmacy up the street for pets. As a dog rescue mama myself, I was beyond impressed. Anyway, I'm so far, I'm quite happy with this pharmacy and will be going there each month for my prescription. It's not likely that I'm going to have Michelle there to handhold me through again, but this experience was an amazing start to my relationship with "my new pharmacy". Just to underscore my point: I usually go to the pharmacys elsewhere. Just like everyone else, I stand in line either in person or at a drive through window wishing at times the employee were even a wee bit kinder. I get my prescriptions and keep on stepping. Not giving much thought to the experience. At Cascade Specialty Pharmacy, I already know that I'll be greeted with a smile. And I will feel good about having to take my medicine. What a difference caring individuals make in the lives of others. In my opinion, those people deserve amazing success. I wish Cascade Specialty Pharmacy the very best in it's business ventures for the next many years to come!

This was my pharmacy of choice for over a decade so I'm very sorry to have to write an unfavorable…read morereview. Bartell merged with another drug store a few years ago and the pharmacy immediately changed to prescription management software no one on staff seemed to have been trained on. Lines for service became 10+ deep and took 30 minutes to reach staff. That turned out to be the highlight of things to come. Since then, all of the long time pharmacy staff who knew customers by name have either quit or been fired. New staff lack basic customer service skills and don't even offer key information if there is an issue with a refill. Most recent problem - 2 weeks ago, my doctor sent a refill order to the 42nd Ave SW Bartell's pharmacy that included a small change in dosing - same strength taking the medication every OTHER day instead of daily. I waited a few days but never received the usual automated call that my Rx was ready OR a call that there was an issue. Upon going in to the store, was told my doctor's office was not returning a request to clarify the prescription and I would need to deal with this. Bartell's refused to make the call and offered no other alternative. I was able to get through to a person in my doctor's office in under 5 minutes; doctor's office agreed to re-fax instructions. Again - 5 days passed, no robo call or text or email my Rx was ready or that there was a problem. Attempts to call the pharmacy resulted in a phone that continued to ring - not even a way to leave a message. Went back in to store yesterday - the same clerk gave me the exact info I had received the previous week. I was not even offered a partial refill until situation could be rectified. I asked what they suggested as I had done all I could and to my knowledge, doctor had cooperated. Ultimately, pharmacist told me it was inefficient for me to expect his staff to call a doctor's office and he could get in trouble for refilling without more clarity. Full stop. Telling him my continuing to do exactly the same thing and expect a different result was the very definition of insanity fell on deaf ears. I suggested a partial refill while I tried to sort things out after explaining all of this red tape had resulted in the patient, who had nothing to do with any of the issues, running out of a prescription for the foreseeable future. He returned with THREE PILLS and told me that was legally all he could do to help. There are so many things Bartell's could have done EVERY STEP OF THE WAY to have solved this problem, including simply contacting ME to let me know what was happening. The absolute kicker for me was having to suggest a partial refill while I attempted to find new ways to solve other people's errors. Today's call back to my doctor included removing Bartell's from my file and having a new prescription sent to a different pharmacy. All accomplished in less time than it is taking to write this review. I was the office manager for a well-loved family practice clinic for 8 years so I have an extremely good idea of what is involved in refilling prescriptions and what can be done if there is an issue. Simply offering to help problem solve goes a very long way. What I just went through with Bartell's, culminating in a very rude encounter that didn't offer even the most basic solutions, is completely inexcusable. It would've taken everyone involved far less time to do their jobs correctly the first, second or even third time. In the meantime, I have run out of a much needed medication. I will not be returning to this store and if you value time, decent service and good health care, I strongly recommend you do the same.

It's great they have parking available and it's a well stocked location. Some of the other amenity's I enjoy is they carry snacks and beer. Nothing better than a 6 pack & medication to go. Plus if you need birthday or holiday cards you can grab that as well.. Last amazing thing I bought here was JP Patches nutcracker during the holidays. And only a local would know who JP Patches is well you shouldn't shop here... Anyways when the need for things comes up may I suggest you shop local vs national chains.

As a Bartells customer for decades, it saddens me to see how Bartell's so drastically declined…read moresince RiteAid purcased them. If a Bartell's is still open, they store stock and pharmacy service is less than 1 star. Some employees seem to be doing their best but as a customer it's terrible. This location will switch to a CVS in Sept 2025, I can only hope it improves or I'll need go elsewhere. Most shelves in the store have been empty for ages; I was told they have a hard time getting some medications due to the bankrupcy; and my doctor has had to send prescriptions in multiple times. If the phones are working (the phone system was down for close to a week earlier this year), the pharmacy rarely picks up and I wouldn't bother leaving vmail - you probably won't hear back. I was a behind a women in the Rx line recently who said she drove down to ask if her prescription was ready, they said no. The woman told them she came in person to check as they hadn't answered the phone all day. They said they were too busy to answer the phone so it would be best if the she could drive back down to check later to ask if her Rx was ready. If it wasn't they could probably tell her in person then, when she could come back, I guess a 3rd time in one day, to pick up. Wow!
