What's the first thing you would do if you find your car's been towed from a store's parking lot and the tow company, which the store *contracts* to use, won't tell you where they're located? Well, you ask the store management to provide the address on their vendor's behalf, Right? That's what I did! Except that I (a paying customer) looked like the woman from Psycho hitting the Rite-Aid glass doors that had just been closed & locked to get one of the 3 Rite-Aid reps' attention. Their janitor smiled at me and partially cupped one ear as if to motion he couldn't hear me, when I know damn well he could. It's late at night, I'm in a city I'm not familiar with, in a business dress, bawling (I didn't know what else to do), and their staff refuses to open the door just so that I can get the address to where the tow company that *they* have contracted is located. I could have had a friend dying in the parking lot, and they wouldn't have known because they wouldn't even come to check and see what the dilemma was. I've never been so disappointed in humans in my life! It was so selfish and uncaring, and it only made me more emotional. As for the store itself, it is older and like every other Rite-Aid, everything is overpriced. Bought $15 batteries and thought I'd be calling a night. Nope. Rite-Aid Management: I would consider using a new towing vendor. We called A & A Towing and the woman hung up on me 3 times when all I needed was an address to get the car!! I had to stay in Long Beach overnight... a foreign city to me! And your employees couldn't be decent and open the door to ask what I needed. I wasn't banging for ice cream, trust me! Busy all the time. 2 cashiers with a line of 10. Never enough cashiers. Why are there no self-check out lanes? Why is there not a security guard? My friend and I waited to get some Rx's, got some batteries, and post cards. Took about 1/2 hour. During that time our car was towed from THEIR PARKING LOT. NEVER go there EVER if you value your car. We got our car back within 1/2 hour after taking a cab across town but it cost over 300.00 to get it out. We showed them the receipt from the store, and they didn't care. This store is close to home and it's clean so I do come here often. I don't like that there is ALWAYS someone outside asking for money, either "charity" or otherwise, it's a little annoying... I was there on Saturday afternoon-ish, while I was in line there was a man at the first register but facing the line and seriously he was looking like a damn creeper! There were two ladies in line behind my wife and I overheard them calling him a creeper too so I asked them if they were talking about the same man and they were, seriously he was pulling out his cell phone and pointed it directly at us in line and appeared to be taking pictures while his wife was paying, so crazy! Not to mention the other weirdo we all saw in the Cards isle which is right behind the customer line, he too was with his cell phone out appearing to take pictures. I don't know what was going on in the store at this time, I was just happy to leave! I know stores can't really do anything about who comes in and out but maybe they should have security or something afterall it is next to Bixby park and we all know what kind of people are sometimes lurking there... read more

First off I Love the workers and their customer service and their vibe. This review is strictly only for their photo department. I just went on a giant camping trip with some old friends that I havent seen in awhile, and had 10 rolls developed at their photo. What I got back was 7 rolls, streaky scans, and a bunch of grainy scans that turned out clearer when i took it to a friends scanner. They also lost 2 of my rolls, and told me that 2 rolls were blank, and didn't have an explanation. I've had trouble with their scans before, but now I've just lost a bunch of pictures and memories from and important important trip, and basically sucks major balls. If this was the case they couldn't have called me, or told me this when I picked up my pictures? And why was I charged for the 10 rolls then? Please, if you have very important pictures to have developed, don't take em here. read more

I live walking distance, so I am there weekly and the customer service has always been great even though there is almost always a long line, they get everyone through fast and with a great attitude! Now with the remodel and being open 24 hours, its a great place to shop! I have always had a really good experience when I shop there. read more

If I wasn't desperate I would never come here again but unfortunately convenience prevails. I've seen management treat the homeless like they are garbage, calling the police and saying they are harassing people (when they are merely standing outside literally greeting people. They have NEVER asked me for a dime, all I've ever gotten is "Good Morning") - did we not learn anything from the brutal death of Kelly Thomas? I think they are interested in this type of lawsuit. I've also heard THE SAME MANAGER use profanity openly in front of people (obviously me) and he assumed I wasn't there. I'm in the Human Resources field and I can tell you.. BIG NO NO. Besides desperation, I come back because most all of the employees are the nicest people on the planet. There is one girl that I wish I could just bottle up her enthusiasm and friendliness. I need some of that! I've seen her at work practically dying with the flu and she was in such a good mood. We need more people like her in the world. Rite Aid, get your promotions right.. Nobody wants a grumpy downer as a manager. I've seen a lot more capable people there. read more

I'd have to give this store a solid 4.75 and it's interesting to see there are some mixed reviews because as much as I go there ... I can't say I've ever had a bad experience with the store or staff. As a matter of fact the only reason I'm writing a review is because the staff (for the most part) are exceptional! Seriously, they alway great you and are super friendly at check out. People are so quick to write a negative - I thought I'd share my experience. It just appears the store is run well - from the "higher ups" and or management. I'm not sure who the manager but there is a lady there (I think hispanic) and has her hair up and wears glasses - I think her is Eveyln or Evie ... something like that and she is always seems to have things running smoothly and she is managing staff and checking customers out. She just seems like she running a tight ship while being friendly, courteous and professional. Hats off to her! Not sure I got her name right but she has to be the manager. read more

I came in here for some ice cream. The store was definitely under staffed. The line for the ice cream took about 25 minutes to get through. There was long lines at the cash registers. And there was angry customers standing around confused. The cashiers weren't really attempting to make the situation better. The ice cream was amazing though! read more

I live right across the street from Rite Aid, and I'm always forgetting to buy at least one thing at the grocery store/Target. Although Rite Aids in general are a bit pricier than your average Target or WalMart, it's small, neighborhood friendly, and things are always easy to find. PLUS, Rite Aid always satisfies my ever-so-often ice cream fix, with some awesome Thrifty ice cream. The cashiers are always great, and I generally find what I'm looking for! My friendly neighborhood Rite-Aid! I'm here a couple times a month and it's always a great experience. Clean, bright, and open 24 hours. What's not to love? The pharmacy staff is a hoot! I come here so often they know me on-site and always greet me warmly. Like any other Rite-Aid they sell just about anything you might need from ice cream to booze! Unlike other Rite-Aid stores they're located in a historic building with a nice facade across the street from Bixby Park and walking distance from Ocean Blvd and the beach. Awesomeness! Nice guys in the pharmacy...usually they can have your prescription ready within 15 minutes...I just drop off the prescription and then walk around the aisle...checking out the buy 1 get 50% off deals...sort through the greeting cards {I'm such a sap sometimes...I love the cute little sentiments they have inside} and parking is never a problem The only con is that the parking lot is usually full of vagrants... read more

Pharmacy review: I'm giving 3 stars because Gloria and all the pharmacy techs are kind, funny, and awesome human beings. They're clearly doing their very best to keep this ship afloat, but this pharmacy system is broken. Prescriptions are never ready at the promised time. Never. It's always hours or days late. When the doctor calls in a new prescription, they don't fill it until I call them to ask what's up. Sometimes it's the next day, and they haven't even started to fill it. When I have automatic refills on file, they still fill them late or are out of stock (even though it was a scheduled, automatic refill, so shouldn't inventory be planned accordingly?). I've been going to CVS lately because they have a much better app/website to track your prescriptions, and they're just far more reliable with promised time and inventory. But I like the people at this pharmacy, except the pharmacist herself who can be rude at times. She once shouted at me from a distance (there goes privacy) that they never transferred a prescription without even listening to what I was saying, until one of the techs showed her on their computer that in fact they did. Kudos to Gloria and to the other techs. They're the reason I still come here. read more

The only reason I come here is that this is the only market within walking distance. I really dislike this store, because of all the reasons other fellow yelpers complain about, and them some: excruciating slow lines, incompetent management, avoiding eye contact with the homeless people that are always there as you walk in the store..etc. I've also noticed that it seems that the more ghetto a store is, the higher the prices are? And all I have to say is..the prices are kinda high. I love their chocolate malt ice cream, though. :) read more

The local watering hole! Ha, just joshing. It is where I go to get my drink. Wine, beer, straight alcohol, and other spirits. It is the only place around Ocean and Cherry that is walking distance in which to buy liquor. OTHER THAN THAT... it is your typical Rite Aid. great Thrifty's brand ice cream, but I swear it used to be cheaper for a single scoop of ice cream. Just newly remodeled, veerryy Nice! The staff is friendly and helpful. There are always people outside begging for money or booze or whatever. But I love it. I don't know what I would do if it closed or moved. They are horrible with the phone. I called them to ask a simple 30 second question but they put me on hold for almost 10 minutes. I feel compelled to write a good review to counter those who live in the "gayborhood" who wrote bad reviews because of the general ambience including unsavory characters hanging around and in the store. Dudes, if you live here, then you know this area is a lowclass shithole! Most other businesses around this corner are dive bars and stores selling only liquor and junk food. I have found the service and the people at this branch very good. Of course, due to the lack of a normal grocery store around, it'd be nice if they had more real food, but who besides me would buy it? They are well stocked for normal Rite Aid stuff and the staff is very friendly and helpful. read more

Probably the longest lines I've ever seen with always 1 maybe 2 cashiers if your lucky! This place is located in very high traffic area so you would think Sonny the manager would have more cashiers to help move customers through quicker! Being it's the only place within walking distance we're all kind of stuck shopping here! Just give yourself apx 20 minuets to wait in line! Some cashiers even have to use 2 terminals to ring people up at the same time...I don't understand how a store this busy is so mismanaged...very rude staff, mostly all the girls that work here look like they hate their jobs! I came into the pharmacy to fill my prescription. I recently lost my health insurance of 26 years once I graduated school. The doctor warned me the prescription was going to be costly without any aide, of course the pharmacist proved her right.... $220+ for a couple of pills.... THANK GOD FOR SANDRA!!!! I don't know what she did but she got the price down to $91!!! I didn't ask questions but started crying instead. I was fully able to pay the original cost but the gratitude of people these days are near and far. Thank you SANDRA! I am forever grateful to you. read more

No such policy listed/posted any where so I assume it's made up. I offered to buy $50 worth of stuff if I could use the restroom Maly said no. Went here to pick up a prescription for hydrocortisone. It wasn't ready 5 hours after the script was called in. Apparently they needed clarification from my medical provider. OK, fine. I go back the next evening - 27 hours after they received the script. They were JUST working on it. How long does it take to slap a sticker on a jar? To make matter worse, they were trying to give me used medication! The seal on the jar was broken, foil creased showing it had been opened, and the remnants of the previous patient sticker was on it. So they said they'd get another one from another store, come back tomorrow. When I get the the next evening, IT'S THE SAME JAR! (After I pointed this out, they went to get the other one to prove me wrong - except they couldn't find it, since you know, I was right.) I question the legality of selling USED MEDICATION. Needless to say, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

It's Tuesday night, July 5th at 9:55 pm. There are 15 customers in line with one cashier open. The staff themselves are pretty nice. Always friendly but usually tired and overwhelmed. The employees are great. What the heck is going on?! The manager has a bad attitude and doesn't seem to care about anything besides the end of his shift.
