Went to purchase some Tylenol since my kid has a fever. Was told that they need to scan my driver's license in order to buy it, without explaining why it's necessary. I was in a hurry to get the medicine for my kid so I didn't bring my id. First of all, I've bought the same medicine from so many other places and no one, literally no one else had the same requirement. Second, I have a photo of it to show but the cashier won't take it. This is so much nonsense bureaucracy and showed no customer empathy. I ended up just ordering through DoorDash where no ID is required, such as joke. November 1, 2023 Phil who works at the cashier station and stocking shelves is always friendly and helpful...He smiles and is very kind to my nephew when we shop at this location. Phil is very informative and works to exceed my expectations whenever I have a question about where something is located. I enjoy going to this Rite Aide because Phil makes this store special for me and my family members when we come in. October 20, 2023 When I come in to pick up my grocery's, Phil has always been accommodating and very helpful. I asked to have inventory checked on a certain glucose monitor that I needed and couldn't find the right one, Phil stopped what he was doing and assisted me! Phil seems to be genuine and certainly helpful when I come in to shop. He works to help others whenever possible and always has a positive attitude towards the other people shopping in the store. This once helpful store has become useless with the exception of the pharmacy. It looks like what you might find in the ex Soviet Union with rows and rows of empty shelves. This is one of the premier areas of San Diego and you can't stock your shelves?! I live steps away from this store and have stopped bothering to even attempt to find any items. Need milk? Sorry, out of stock. Need nail polish? Sorry, out of stock. Shampoo? Toilet paper? Deodorant? Snacks? Soda? Sorry, it's probably out of stock. Save your time and go to Target or Vons. It's been a minute, but I decided to write an updated review since I told Joe (manager?) I'd write a Yelp review for him. Customer service was great as Joe was a very friendly and apologetic guy since I had to wait in line longer than expected. I didn't mind, but I appreciated his concern. He gave off good, positive energy and seemed to enjoy working there. If you've worked customer service then you'll appreciate good service when you see it so props to him! Basically got what I came for and they had plenty of parking at the shopping center. They also practiced safety protocols indoors ensuring customers are lined up 6 ft. apart and plenty of hand sanitizer available up front. They also had a barrier between cashier and customer. Everything was well organized and clean. Also appreciate the ATM machine available inside as I needed to withdraw some cash. Annoyed by the $3.25 service fee though. I'll have to browse a little longer next time as I hear they carry some high end beauty products. Beats shopping online when I can just get it here. All in all, Joe deserves my 5 star rating!! I went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription. Rachel (tall woman with brown hair) said that I had to pay $30. I said I haven't paid for these ever and gave her my new health insurance ID number which I thought might be the issue. She interrupted me and said it was just the RX number that mattered and showed the RX number on her paper. I said I just got a new ID number this year so may I give it to her. She said no, call your insurance and I'm returning this prescription right now. Alarmed, I drove home and immediately called my insurance and they said I just need to give them my new ID number. They couldn't get through on the phone to the pharmacy (because as it turned out they were now on their lunch break) so I drove back with the insurance representative on my phone since Rachel said she's returning my prescription medication. After their lunch break, I told Rachel that the insurance representative on the phone said I need to give her my new ID number that I tried to give her before. She snapped back that she checked my RX number and that was that - my prescription was canceled. She finally put my member ID number in and acknowledged there was no cost now. She then said I had to wait 15-20 minutes to get my medication which she was holding in her hand in a blister pack (no need to measure out). I asked why I had to wait another 15-20 minutes when it's free and in her hand. Then Omni (another woman) arrived and started saying they were on a lunch break so I shouldn't be frustrated. I tried to explain to her what happened before with the ID number (way before the lunch break) and how I had to drive home and come back because of Rachel's mistake and that's why I was frustrated. She did not care and kept sighing deeply. The actual pharmacist in charge gave me my medication in less than 15 minutes probably because my insurance representative on speaker phone was questioning why they were keeping it from me when they were already paid by the insurance company. All I wanted was for Rachel to say "sorry for the trouble - that was my mistake for not taking your new member ID" but instead I had Rachel getting mad at me and Omni (who was not there to see when Rachel refused to take my new member ID - only the pharmacist was there to see it and I wish she would've stepped in earlier) getting upset with me too - for what, I don't know because I was not rude to Rachel when she made the first error (arguing with me that only the RX number mattered). I have been going to this pharmacy for 10 years and Rachel and Omni shocked me with the way they treated me. When people go to the pharmacy they are most likely under at least mild distress. This is not the type of "customer service" that belongs in any pharmacy. read more

This review is solely based on the ice cream service. Stopped in here with my kids for some good ole ice cream. No one was there so the guy in the front called in someone from the back, I want to say it was a "Michelle". Any who, this person who I shall call "the ice cream girl" was in no mood to serve patrons ice cream. I guess scooping ice cream is a super tough job, right? She marches behind the counter and annoyingly slaps on her gloves. She asks what I want. I say, "can I get a single scoop of strawbe--" but before I could finish, she rudely says, "CAN YOU SPEAK LOUDER IT'S LOUD BACK HERE." I'm like, okaaaaaay, that was rude but okay, okay, okayyyyy. There are definitely ways to tell customers when you can't hear them. So I ask her for a single strawberry scoop in a CONE in a CUP. They do this without any problem at EVERY. SINGLE. RITE AID I've ever been to, minus the ATTITUDE. She angrily slides the fridge door open, as if I'm asking for something outrageous. Calm down sweetie, you're scooping ice cream. Now, ice cream girl hastily grabs a scoop of ice cream and slams the door shut. "WHAT else" she barks. I get another single scoop for my son, but I didn't feel like finishing the order for my husband and me, so I paid and left. I really wanted to say something to this miserable young lady, but I held back, because my kids were with me. This ice cream girl has long, dark, reddish curly hair who needs a total attitude adjustment. Cheer up butter cup, if you don't like your job serving polite patrons, maybe try a different career choice, sweetheart. Try a place where you don't have to use manners or even associate with people :). To the manager of this establishment, please consider some customer service training for your employees (or maybe just this one young lady in particular). Oh, and all of your ice cream was melting. We tossed our CONES in a CUP right outside the store because it was a mess. I'll probably never come back here for ice cream. The establishment is nice and clean though. read more

I rarely write bad reviews on service, but I felt that I needed to provide feedback this time. I always came to this Rite Aid for prescription since it was opened. As the pharmacy practice, a pharmacist offers consultation on the prescribed drug. He/she normally would ask if you had any questions. However, that has been changed recently. Due to my daughter's sickness, I came to this drug store 3 times the past 4 weeks. During the first visit, Mr. Sorial was the pharmacist. When I got the medicine, he talked to me about the dose. One unusual thing is that he talked 3 feet away while working on another prescription, and did not ask if I had any questions. That was quite different from my experience before. I felt strange but did not thought too much about it - since it was a common medicine (amoxicillin) that we used multiple times before. Three weeks later, I had to come back because my daughter had allergic reaction to the medicine. We stopped the medicine and the symptoms came back. Mr. Sorial did not mention side effect during my last visit. When I got the second medicine, I asked if there could be side effect. He said that there could be allergic reaction, but did not specify what. Again, he talked about it a couple of feet away, busy with something else. Another week later, I had to come back because my daughter refused the medicine due to taste, and her symptom got worse. The Doctor prescribed another antibiotic. This time, Rite Aid did not have the medicine and asked me to come back next day at 5 pm. I went back at 7 pm the next day. Surprisingly, Mr. Sorial told me that the medicine was not available, and it was in back order and would not be available for 3-4 days. I was quite upset since we were not contacted on that - we could transfer the prescription to another pharmacy. Another pharmacist or manager stepped in and suggested to provide the available drug that could provide 5-6 days of treatment instead of 10. We could come back next week for refill. Again, Mr. Sorial talked one or two sentences while working on something else. This time, I felt that I should provide my feedback to him. I told him that this was quite a different pharmacist experience from what I used to get. I would expect that the pharmacist should be standing close (for private reason) and paying full attention. He/she should provide advice and answer any questions that may come up. He argued that he was busy. That was quite disappointing reply and I felt that Mr. Sorial was dishonoring the pharmacist profession. I hope that this feedback can get the attention of the Rite Aid Pharmacy, thus something can be done to improve the service (pharmacist consultation). read more

About what you'd expect of a drug store in a wealthy neighborhood. No security guards, no shady people hanging around, It was clean and empty ( at least when school is out for summer). I came in for some emergency motor oil and they had a minimal selection of "close enough" viscosity. They only have one cashier, which doubles as the ice cream lady. read more

I stopped by Trader Joe's and noticed that both the Rite Aid and Baked Bear are now open! I think they need more balloons or something because not many people, like me, seemed to know. This Rite Aid is brand spankin' new and built from ground up. They have: - pharmacy - lots of makeup brand and nail polish - liquor - GNC section - greeting cards BUT, most importantly, they have... THRIFTY ICE CREAM! I know. You know that already. But this is the *newest* Thrifty ice cream set up you will see. The ice cream case looks well organized and the lay out is clean (see pic) Plus...... (you can thank me later) They have SELF SERVE Thrifty *FROZEN YOGURT* here!! It's sold at .49c/ounce I saw 8 flavors and tried the mango (tart), pom raspberry (tart), & chocolate. They even have self serve toppings for the yogurt (see pic!). So that in itself was fun to see and witness how Rite Aid might be changing, for the positive, to meet new tastes/needs of their customers. I hope this location does well . I think of their employees mentioned that it's still a soft opening and the grand opening will be soon. The Pharm is open and cashiers are on hand so I'm assuming the soft opening means all systems a go. read more

Patients and physicians please don't waste time at this incompetent pharmacy. I called in a prescription antibiotic for one of my patients and they told her insurance didn't cover it after she waited for over an hour at the store. She called me and told me the story. She has Medicare and the drug is common so it didn't make sense to me. I told her I'd call it in to a cvs. I did and she was able to pick it up and guess what? It was covered! It cost her $1. Don't waste your time at this incompetent store that wasted my patient's time and my time. read more

Unbelievably terrible customer service at this Rite Aid store. On Monday, May 23, I went back to my local rite air store (Store 06711, at 13460 Highlands Place) to return a neck massager. I mentioned to the cashier that unlike what the picture on the box presented, the device was not battery operated and it required a power wire at all times. I did not have my receipt with me so I offered the receipt from my credit card that I had used to purchase. A guy with a name tag of "Scott" walks up and says I'm sorry but without the receipt, I can only give you 50% of your money! I reasoned that I am a regular customer and they ask for my phone number every time so they can look me up and find the receipt, right? He says I'm sorry that is our corporate policy not to do that! Here is the return policy from Rite-Aid's page on the subject matter: "... If you do not have your receipt but you have your Rite Aid Rewards card or phone number used during the original purchase, we can look for your transaction 48 hrs after the original purchase date and provide you with a full refund on your original purchase price." I asked if he was the store manager which he said he was, and so I asked for his business card or contact information to complain to their corporate office. He said he did not have any. I asked for his last name and he said he did not have a last name either and refunded 50% of the item price. Even when then, their system asked for my phone number and recognized my number with a welcome message!! I decided to post my experience here as a courtesy to other patrons of Ride aid and to raise awareness at the corporate level. Ride-aid should be embarrassed to have such managers represent the company. read more

OK, so I've only been here once, but when Yelp asked for my review I thought "why not" ... My husband and I took our 3-year old granddaughter here for ice cream recently. The young man that worked the counter was really good with the little one (and us too) and we were pleased to see all the extra toppings that were available. It's nice and clean. I never felt so discriminated against my race , I had came in here for a visit to bring my nieces in for some junk food until a security guard kept following us around the store. Keep in mind that there was many people in the store and he was only targeting us anywhere where we would go. We have quite a few monthly medications that we need and no matter when I arrive to pick them up I am forced to wait 15-20 mins for them to prepare the meds. The cashier was a young man and he was inviting people to the register using a circus barker/auctioneer manner that was completely off-putting, to the extent my fiance left the store while I paid for my things. We use this Rite Aid as our primary pharmacy and have always received prompt and courteous help - to pick up prescriptions, calls placed to the pharmacy with questions regarding prescriptions and the like. The layout of the store looks pretty neat and swanky... with even an ice cream plus FroYo section... Shaved off a star since the few times I've been here to purchase certain OTC drugs, I've found them to be more expensive than the local CVS so we end up getting them elsewhere. And yes, the front of the store is often manned by just one employee at the cashier. read more
