Coming here can be inconvenient for me sometimes, mostly for hours, but I love supporting a "moms and pops" business and Justin is amazing. He's not only super friendly but also very smart. Always took me back when I walked in and he remembered my full name. On top of that, the technicians and other pharmacists are always so nice and helpful. Its a perfect example of a locally owned, "moms and pops" business I continue to use over the connivence of the "big box stores". Any problems, they will call you. The BEST pharmacy in San Diego! A tiny local establishment but rocking with EXCELLENT customer service AND how about IN STOCK medicine!?!? The big pharmacies are pathetic now...operating by AI robotic phone attendants that can't get information right, zero customer service, out of meds, dirty facility, unfriendly service, very very difficult to reach a HUMAN, and prices way higher! I desperately needed special yet very standard Tobradex antibiotic eyedrops...CVS didn't have them in stock, Von's didn't have them in stock (at least you can reach a human at Von's however!) but North Coast had the drops and at $85 vs CVS @ $260..what?!? Crazy. North Coast has great people who actually care and really hustled to get my prescription transferred from the out-of-stock CVS's to their pharmacy in record time and on a Saturday! Terrible pharmacy. My regular pharmacy didn't have enough of a 3 month supply for a script that I get regularly. So my pharmacist suggested I call around to find a pharmacy that had it since they've been experiencing shortages. So I call NCMP, I ask *specifically* if they have the full amount for a 3 month supply, they said yes. So, I had my pharmacy transfer the script over to them. To be clear, there is no other reason I would go to this pharmacy. It closes at 5pm so it's closed by the time my husband is on his way home from work, I have a back injury so it's hard for me to go out on my own, but I did, when they notified me *that day*, that same day that I asked if they had the full amount and the same day that my pharmacy transferred the script, they notified me that my script was ready to pick up. So, fine, I go over there, and what do I find? They give me only a one month supply telling me that there is a stock shortage. Then why tell me you had the full amount? I feel like they had it and just made a decision they didn't want to fill mine in case they'd run out. It might have helped a little if the people there showed any kind of recalcitrance for the situation, or went to look to see if they had the full amount to give me, but it was a, "tough shit, take it or leave it" sort of attitude. I was hoping a small independent pharmacy would have some good points, it had none. It's a sad day when you feel that Walgreens is better than them. That's a pretty freaking low bar. read more

Such good customer service, I've been to a lot of pharmacies and this is the best one I've been to in my life. No issues with medicine or filling prescription, but the service is abysmal. Heaven forbid you ask either of the women at the front a question. On my first visit, a simple question about prescription insurance was answered as if I was inconveniencing her. I was in a rush, so I didn't push it. Prior to the next visit, I called my prescription insurer for information on costs. I was conferenced into their conversation and the clerk at the pharmacy was rude to both of us on the line. I mean it takes a lot to make an insurance company look good. On my last visit, I spoke to one of the ladies (I wish I remembered her name) and let them know they're lucky they're one of the few compound pharmacies in the area because going to this pharmacy is a disappointment every time. Learn some customer service and maybe you can get my business back. Oh well, I'll drive farther to avoid this place. read more

Our local Riteaid suddenly closed this week. We spoke with friends and read reviews of pharmacies nearby. Most big pharmacies had ratings in the low two's, maybe one was a low three, but North Coast was by itself with 59 ratings and a 4.5. When we went in to register with them, 2 people, including the owner who just stopped whatever he was doing, came over to the counter immediately and we were fully registered in less than 3 minutes. The owner said he needed our records from Riteaid and believed that upon closing, Riteaid had transferred them (with no notice to us) over to the local Walgreens. He said he would track them down and call us when he had them. Fifteen minutes later he called to say he had them. This pharmacy might be small, but they provided mighty service and we are very grateful. read more

This is an update to my previous review. My husband used this pharmacy right after I posted the first review, so I went in to pick up his prescription.. The owners must read the reviews right away (however they did not respond to my review). When I walked in the Pharmacist looked directly at me and then proceeded to whisper to the women who had helped me previously she then looked up at me, but neither of them acknowledged me. This exchange was so blatant it was honestly the rudest thing I have every seen. It was so bad I had to laugh while I was being helped by another woman at the front. I changed from big chains to this Dynamic Super Family Pharmacy a while ago --when we moved to the area. It is just what I needed to handle my complicated medication needs. They are so on it! They go to bat for you when you have difficult situations. They carry some basics and cute cards and gifts. If you have to wait a bit for them to fill a prescription, It's 5 minutes at most. They text you when prescriptions are ready to pick up. Often I will walk in and they will call me by name, or just bring out my prescriptions without me telling them my name! I LOVE this pharmacy! The staff are all knowledgeable and courteous...and when they tell you something will be ready, it's usually ready even earlier than they estimate! It's right downstairs from my primary care doctor, so it's incredibly convenient...and there is just something that feels good about knowing that this is a privately owned, mom-and-pop-type pharmacy. In the current age of juggernauts like CVS, Walgreens and the like, it's refreshing to walk into a pharmacy and not feel like you're surrounded by advertisements, inattentive employees, staff with little knowledge of the medicines you've been prescribed, and to be greeted by friendly individuals who treat you like a human being and a community member, not like just another consumer. If you want to speak to a pharmacist, you don't have to wait forever for a response. They're very considerate of your time, and I've never left there without a smile on my face...the staff are all that fantastic! They accept most types of insurance, and they are great about calling your insurance company to make sure your prescriptions are filled as you need them, even when insurance is being difficult. Best of all they don't give you the evil eye when you fill controlled drugs. The staff is fast and accurate. I've been coming here for years, nothing particularly nice about this place other than it's downstairs from my Dr.'s office. A couple of the women working the counter know me and are nice, as in they kind of smile and one of them knows my prescription already when she sees me walking in. That's cool, okay, I appreciate that. I've never been in a situation when their customer service was really tested, and today I was, and I'm feeling pretty mistreated as a customer. I think I'll take my business to CVS or Walgreens. I liked having it here to help the small, local guy, but... After the Labor Day holiday I need a refill and, since they don't open on the weekends (seriously?), I had to wait til Tuesday morning. I needed it, so I arrived a few minutes before they opened at 9am. They were late opening, a couple of the pharmacists were outside waiting with me and a couple of other people, avoiding eye contact at all costs. The owner (or manager I don't know), shows up 5 minutes late, and unlocks the door. Strolls in on his trunks and flip flops, lol, only in Encinitas (I don't have a problem with what ppl wear btw, was just funny, like a "crap I just woke up and I'm late" vibe). It takes another 5 minutes until I'm at the counter cause they had to turn the lights on and stuff. So, it's now 10 minutes past when they should have been opened, and I'm getting help. Then I learned that the order I called in on Saturday is going to take another 20 minutes for them to have ready. Cool! I don't have anything else to do today, no worries... Okay, here's the straw the broke the camel's back. Up to here, this was a 3 stars review. I wait, 15 minutes later they call my name. My prescription is SHORT! They gave me an "I owe you" sticker saying they owe me 26 pills. LOL! What is this? Kindergarten Pharmacy? WTH? Hahahahaha, you gotta laugh. My SoCal college girlfriends and I had a "family" reunion down in San Diego, where we planned on spending the weekend making beautiful memories with our kids. The weekend started off incredibly; I mean just being back in sunny So-Cal from the frozen tundra of Chicago in-and-of-itself was enough to make me happy! The 2nd day of our trip, we planned on going out to breakfast, and then to the San Diego Zoo with the kiddos. Unfortunately, things started off a little rough. Long story short, on our way into breakfast, I spilled my daughter's compounded medication. Words can not describe how upset I was; because A) I needed the medication that day, and B) I was on vacation and had absolutely no idea where any pharmacies in the area were that could get me the medication ASAP. At breakfast, my girlfriends and I desperately called several pharmacies in San Diego and the surrounding area, to no avail. Seriously? In a city like San Diego, no pharmacy in the area could compound medication?! So, I took to yelp and found this pharmacy. Justin, the pharmacist was so incredibly helpful; and reassured me that he would, without a doubt be able get my daughter her replacement medication - no matter what. The pharmacy contacted my doctor to get a new prescription, and Justin was able to compound the medication the same day! Yay! We were still able to go to the zoo, and enjoy the rest of our beautiful vacation - stress-free. I'm going to be getting her compounded medication from this pharmacy from now on because of their impeccable customer service, and most importantly because of Justin. I've had some serious stomach issues after I returned from Spain, I'm a medical student on medical rotation. My doctor tried to prescribe me some regular medications to help my symptoms. Unfortunately none of them worked. I had a discussion with Justin, the pharmacist at north coast medical pharmacy, and he told me that I should discuss with my doctor about a compounded medication that he had a great experience with his other patients. My doctor wasn't completely positive on compounding but I insisted and he wrote me the prescription. Justin and Lynell made the process really easy. I dropped off the prescription and they had it ready the next day. I've been on this compounded medication for about 2 months and I no longer have any symptoms or the pains I had a two months ago. North Coast Pharmacy is all about the patient/customer! I work with them in both a professional manner and as well as a customer. The practice I work for uses them to fill office use medications. Our orders are filled promptly, and Justin ensures we get a good deal. Justin is also a great reference, often taking calls from us at the office when we have questions about available medications, etc. I send lots of patients to them because they honor all the drug rebate cards and aw extremely helpful in aiding patients in getting their medications at a reasonable price and making sure insurance coverage is available. As a patient, the staff is always friendly and knowledgable. I live a block from a CVS, but I every time I've used them they have mixed up my medication or my kids meds! I refuse to fill medications there any longer. Recently, my Doctor prescribed me a medication that came with a hefty $50 co-pay, for the generic! =o Justin contacted my provider to change to a different form( tablet vs. capsule) without my prompting, just to save me money! My co-pay is now $15 for the same medication!! I highly doubt busy CVS is going to take the time to do that. Thanks North Coast!!! read more

I was surprised to read some of the negative reviews on here. My doctor's office is located on the third floor so coming down to this pharmacy is super convenient for me. I've been going here for the past six years and have had only great experiences. The staff members are always nice and helpful. Patty and Lydia are the usual ladies I interact with. They pull my order as soon as I walk in which I appreciate. The pharmacy also carries vitamins, OTC's, a sundry of health care products, snacks and beverages. Talk about one stop shop! read more

They know me by name. I have come to appreciate them even more as I have had to pick up prescriptions for my daughter from the local CVS - they don't care. CVS doesn't care enough to ensure they have the right insurance. CVS doesn't care enough to be sure that even if they have the right insurance that the prescription is charged correctly. I have been going here for years and have never had any issues. However, yesterday I came in and the employees were frantic. I'm not sure what exactly was going on, but 2 girls in the back were arguing over a prescription order. The one pharmacist was lecturing the other and completely belittling her in front of all of the customers. It was incredibly uncomfortable and the customers all seemed a little worried. Once my name got called to pick up my prescription, I went to the front and was getting checked out by a younger girl when another employee tapped her on the shoulder while she was helping me. The young girl at the front started yelling at the other employee who tapped her. They got in an argument all while I was being check out. They are incredibly unprofessional and clearly cant handle the pressure of having more than 3 customers in the building. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. read more

My primary care physician is in the same main building the pharmacy is is. The pharmacist Justin is highly knowledgeable and spends the time necessary to explain the difference between medications (i.e., generic vs brand, etc.) The staff is friendly and the prescriptions are filled extremely quickly. The fact, that the pharmacy is within the largest out patient medical facility within the Encinitas area makes it that much more convenient...Highly recommend them. read more
