The store itself is nice. Although the line is usually long. But the pharmacy is a pain. It is disorganized. Before I moved to Sylmar, I went to the Rite Aid in Sunland and I never had problems with their pharmacy. I would call in my prescriptions through the automatic system and they would have them ready by the next day. If there was a problem with any of them, they would call me. It was very smooth and easy. This Rite Aid is never smooth and easy. For instance, if you call in 3 prescriptions, they will have 2 ready by the time they say they will and the third one they won't fill but they won't communicate with you why. So you get to the store and they say something like, "Oh, we're out of that and we won't have it in for another 3 days." Maybe you could have given me a courtesy call???? I can't go without my blood pressure medicine for 3 days! Then when I was a little upset about it, the clerk told me, "It's OK, don't cry." I wasn't crying, I was panicking. It is unsafe for me to go without that medication for that long. And not to mention that was kind of condescending. But my point is, they wont have your meds ready when they promise and then they won't give you a courtesy call to tell you why. And if you leave a voice mail for them, they never get it. The Rite Aid in Sunland always listened to and responded to their voice mails. And although most of their clerks seem nice, they tend to not know how to use the register very well, or they get confused by your questions and have to go in the back and ask someone else, etc. Poor training. My doctor tried to call in an antibiotic prescription and was told he had to fax it because the pharmacist was hearing impaired. This itself is not the issue, the issue is the doctor faxed the RX earlier and they had no record of it. He asked them how could he send the RX to them if he was no longer near a fax machine, the tech told the MD to call it into another store and they'd get it. The tech asked for my name and after looking it up this is where it went bad. THE TECH MADE FUN OF MY LAST NAME, THEN TOLD THE DOCTOR I WASN'T RIGHT BECAUSE I TOOK XANAX THEY ACTUALLY MADE FUN OF ME. The personal ridicule continued and then shortly after this the technician INSULTED THE MD. What kind of person makes fun of a patient and their doctor and furthermore, what kind of technician can not take a called in prescription!! I suspect this tech abuses their job because the pharmacist cannot hear them, how is the pharmacist to know if a script is not written down when called in, the tech can simply say they were asked about store hours meanwhile they tell the customer that there is no record of anything being called in. I am really angry over this persons behavior and even more so that I wasted the doctors time because this place decided to play games. I ended up going to the Rite Aid in Arleta and the script was Ready, the technician was the nicest person ever. The Sylmar Store is a mess and they need to fire the abusive technicians who make personal remarks,. I stopped going there years ago because of bad service, I figured it would be an easy thing to ask them to fill a non controlled antibiotic so I wouldn't have to drive far, guess I was wrong. Lesson here is, DO NOT USE SYLMAR, USE ARLETA. I know people may read this and wonder how I heard the personal insults, the MD called me back because of a ring no answer and accidentally the call was on 3 way, when I was about to give him another pharmacy the call was answered, at first I was happy but after hearing this I was disgusted. I called and it took two tries through their automated menu to get someone to respond. When someone responded, they kindly transferred me to the pharmacy. I have been on hold now for about 12 minutes and still no one has answered. I am now going to hang up and go over to CVS pharmacy instead. read more

worst experience ever!!!!! my daughter was in er the night before got there right before they closed the gal said i could fax it in the morning and they could fill it and a fam member could pick it up since i had to work the next day. so i called in the morning asked for fax number a indian guy answered gave me attitude from get go. rudingly told me he would not give me the meds fax and that if i faxed anything he would not fill rx and until i was present to drop off and pick up i was so frustrated i cried because he was so rude. honestly i work in a medical field and never in my life have i encountered a more heartless rude pharmacy tech no customer service skills. like i am sorry if your having a bad day or life but have compassion and learn to be polite!!! read more
