I have been a Rite Aid Coustomer well over 25 years. I was a Critical Care Nurse RN 25 years & a Chronic Pain Patient all my life but 24/7 365 for 35 yrs and living in severe pain because of the crack down of Rx Narcotics for the same 35 yrs. My Dr's see me every month and I have a medical file takes up over the largest * I have jumped thru everything my Dr's wanted & still do! NOW I relocated to Visalia 4 1/2 yrs ago! The Pharmacy Staff at first were great and I love the drive thru and Rite Aid has the cards I like to give for every special occasion! Then slowly I started getting rude service, the day my medications wouldn't even "started on those medications at 6pm". I don't know if anyone reading this has ever been in SEVERE PAIN & being in severe pain tried to wait in have called 30 minutes before closing and was told it's not done but will do it first then in the morning. Wasn't done till 2pm! They harassed me and I see them change how they treat Coustomers to how I'm being treated. I would get texts saying my medication will be filled. I didn't know your texts use 29 days not 30 and for awhile I was getting them at the 29 days but suddenly I was told wouldn't be ready till next day and then a Pharmacist was extremely rude, treated me like I'm drug seeking and an overall drug addiction also told me by his calculation I should have so many pills left! I explained to him I'm just going by what your texts are telling me! I already pill count every CHRONIC PAIN SUFFERERS do but at that time I had more then 10 less then 20 times a month I suffer excruciating pain and if I wouldn't be treated the same I'd go to the ER! I've only gone twice in my 35 yrs. Once my dad came over to see me and pi ked me up and took me & the 2nd I had another excruciating PAIN for 7 days. I paced around the house, I'd sit but have to get up and only slept 20 min at a time. 7th day my brother said okay we're going to the ER and I told him NO I can't stand the way absolutely everyone was going to treat me & talking about me. So he finally talked me into going (you have to know the first time ER was the one I worked at) he said he couldn't stand to see me SUFFER anymore. So I know how everyone treats anyone who SUFFERS CHRONIC PAIN (YES SUFFERS because think about the worst PAIN you ever had and then think about just a glimpse that 24/7 365)! I didn't get relief from anything my Dr's had me do so yes I was started on Tylenol 3 & added Soma, when that didn't help me enough I was put on Norco & Soma for over 25yrs! My Dr's wrote to my Hospital saying I had to take them even when I was working as a Critical Care Nurse RN! I had just finished the RN program & got my license and if I couldn't then I'd have to be put out on DISABILITY! I never did anything but what my Dr's Rx'd me for over 25yrs!! Can you see what type of QUALITY OF LIFE those of us who SUFFER CHRONIC PAIN! I knew eventually I'd be forced out on DISABILITY! Before that I fought so much to work with the pain so bad I barely made it my 12 hrs but towards the end I wasn't able to just do my 3 12 hr shifts. For the last 15 yrs I've lived with severe pain and if I make dinner and clean up anything like that after and the next day my brother says moan to scream out in pain even in my sleep. NO QUALITY OF LIFE!! when i picked up my last Rx was the last time and it was a medication should have been done the day before & not ready till after 2pm!! Plus this medication that just barely helps keeping me from making plans of suicide. IDK why but I no longer get texts from the Pharmacy! SO after more then 25yrs I've been a Coustomer of this Rite Aid on E Walnut Visalia I'M CHANGING PHARMACIES taking all my business and my brother will also change Pharmacies taking all his business (No he doesn't have to suffer this)! I refuse to be treated like this!! This Visalia Rite Aid is the only one who's treated me like this! To add a last note!! The medication I'm on is $100 so I talked to my Dr's and was told with the discounts it will be $70. Your Pharmacy says "it's our policy to use discounts for controlled drugs"! I went home and made calls and was told the CVS I'll only pay $57! All i can think is Rite Aid doesn't care and wants SUFFERS of CHRONIC PAIN to go elsewhere! After trying to make it work with cvs and Walgreens, rite aid at walnut and acres was recommended to me. What a breath of fresh air. Smiles, attentiveness, efficiency, willingness, adaptability. It was such a pleasure to go there. The pharmacy staff was wonderful. It was such a shock after many many many experiences with cvs whose staff were overwhelmed. Tired. Uninterested. Terrible service bordering on negligence. Read the not recommended reviews. Even in regard to the older ones, it's still the same situation. Techs talking loudly about how understaffed they are while ignoring people in line, making huge errors like giving you 30 pills when charging you for 90 --(and the bottle says there's 90), not calling regarding updates, not being proactive in communicating with doctors....most could use customer service boot camp. This review is for the less than functioning pharmacy only. The rest of the store is fine. Each time I called in my prescriptions, either 1 or both are not ready by the end of the week. Yes, you are reading this right. I called in my prescriptions a week in advance (7 days) with the hope that this time they will be ready. Each time i call in a prescription i provide a phone number to call me if there is a problem. You guessed it i never receive a phone call and prescription is not ready. Aarg! I arrive to pick up second prescription thst was not ready earlier in the week and you guessed it. Not ready. However, this time, the counter person told me the medicatiin was ordered and would be in on Monday and this was Friday. I had already taken my last pill that morning. I asked counter person what i should do? Well, I guess I could call another Rite Aid and see if they have it. I have come to the conclusion that the pharmacy doesn't actually bother to fill anything until after you come to pick up your prescription.... Drop off prescription or call in refill... "OK that will be ready in about 2 hours...". Yeah longer than most but I figure, busy location, fine. 3 hours later I return (I have learned to never expect my prescription on time there)... and .... "oh, we were just working on that, the pharmacist just needs to sign it off and label it".... 15-20 minutes later (you know how long it should take to fill the dang prescription in the first place... since they actually never even bothered to look at my order until this point)... I would like to take the time to let everybody know what a crappy pharmacist is at his pharmacy. I have never been so disrespected in my life and I worked with CPS. I don't know what his problem is but he is constantly mean and rude. He needs to understand he's working with a lot of sick people who are coming out of surgery and just need some explanation. I've nothing but positive experiences with this Rite Aid. Call in a prescription & I call to check if it's ready before getting in my hot car, go pick it up, if they need more time, I'll call back & check. Everyone one of these employees & pharmacist have been patient & polite. I love the convenience of the drive thru. If too many cars, I get myself out of the car, put on my mask & go in. There has been the inconvenience of my insurance not wanting to fill something until my last dose, Ugh! But it's not Rite Aids fault. Also, my drs office said they sent something...So I have gone in with employee in front of me & Drs office on phone, have them work it out. I cannot go without seizure medication. Employee handled like a champ. We are all human & have bad days. We make mistakes, say something so they have chance to make it right. Be nice about it. It became exceptionally clear to me today why this pharmacy has a 2 star rating. I received a notification at 6:10 that my prescriptions were ready. I was at the pharmacy 7 minutes later, and was told they closed at 6pm and could not get me my medications. I respect business hours; however, to fill a prescription AFTER the time it's able to be picked and send a notification that you CAN pick it up is just bad practice. Especially because the medications were called in much earlier that day, they were not called in close to closing which I could understand not being filled in time. Medications can be essential to people's lives. To fill them after closing AND send a notification that they are ready for pick up when you know that it is not in the time frame for people to actually get the medication is wrong. That was already frustrating, especially when you are very ill, but the primary issue I have was how the pharmacist was extremely rude and condescending. This pharmacy USED to be great. However since they changed SOMETHING/SOMEONE...OMFG this place is horrable. Twice they have told me I an not a covered member of my insuranceTWICE. I then call my carrier they go rounds with this pharmacy staff to argue the fact, yes I am a covered member because earlier this year I picked up medicine there already. Awww yes the jerk finally realized it was THEIR ERROR! The ignorant pharmaceutical staff, "OH." Now today HERE WE GO AGAIN after the last time I made sure everything was up to date so this wouldn't happen again. WTF! Here we go again this time they told me my medication was not covered.....OMG THE FRUSTRATION WITH THIS PERSON/PLACE... I contact my carrier again and to see what is going on. On 5/30/20 at 2:15pm I had the worst customer service experience in this store! It is very disappointing because I've never had a negative encounter here. However when my friend and I came to buy a few necessities we both needed, we were told by a female sales associate (wearing a black long sleeve, black mask, and tan khakis) stocking the first aid aisle that we could only get one item per person. I responded yes I know we both need one. She then said 'well it's one per household' and not like it's any of her business I explained how we don't live together we are just shopping together. She then proceeded to laugh extremely loudly as we walked away. Totally unacceptable and rude! In all my years of working in customer service I have never made a customer feel uncomfortable like she did to us. I would've been fired if I did what she did! Their pharmacy has gone down hill quite a bit because this used to be the place I would always go to get prescriptions last year and never had an issue with anything. Their filling used to be great, but now it is quite the opposite; slow and on top of that, over the phone customer service is not up to par with others. I tried refilling a prescription and put my refill in at 10:30am and was told it would be ready by 2:30pm. So I called a little after 2:30 to check the status, since I had gone the day before and had to wait three hours anyways (it's just for ONE little pill), and they had not even started to process it. I dont know if they are extremely or majorly backed up right now, but that is quite unusual being two days in a row with issues. When you absolutely need the medication this is NOT the place to go. read more

When this Rite Aid opened it was great. Now however, everytime i go to get a prescription filled it is at least 1 hour wait even though they tell me 20 minutes. Today was no different. After 30 min I ask if my prescription was ready the girl told me 5 more minutes. After another 15 mins I again went up to the counter and was told it would be another 5 to 10 minutes because the pharmists was having issues with another customer who actual came in after I did.
