Best haircut ever! Amber was easily one of the best, if not the best, hairdresser I have been to! She asked all of the right questions, which I didn't even know was a thing for a successful hair cut. Because of her due diligence, I absolutely, to this day, am obsessed with, love, love, love my haircut. Her cut made my waves wavier. Previously the front would hang straight and the back was kinky, now after washes and air drying it all falls wonderfully. She gave me a fuller bang that looks great when my hair is up or down. I got face framing layers that look excellent for my messy bun days. There are a lot of them.... All this is to say, Amber is marvelous and talented and a gem and I'm excited to see her again soon! With my second pregnancy under my belt, stretch marks, wrinkles, cellulite, stretchy pants, you know the drill!, it has been so extremely empowering to have a good haircut. Now more than ever. I have never left a review before, but my experience with Ritual Salon was so horrendous that I have to share. I came to Ritual for hair extensions, and was originally charged $600 for two wefts of hair, and $200 for an install. The stylist only used one weft of hair ($300 worth), and said she would store the unboxed second weft for use later on. When I went back to get the second weft installed, the salon admitted that they had lost the hair. They initially asked me to purchase a new weft, and then after uncomfortably objecting, I was offered $125. When I asked how they came up with that number, the receptionist became aggressive and told me that I can "take it or leave it" and hung up on me. I am literally shaking, as I have never been so disregarded or treated so poorly by a service provider who should be apologetic for losing $300 of unboxed hair. It is really sad and unnecessary that this business has chosen to take the cowardly way out and blame shift to a customer who is literally just asking for the item that they paid a large amount of money for. To respond to Kimberly: I only had three wefts installed, and three wefts were lost. I did not refuse payment, quite the opposite - I said I would love a refund and was hung up on when I questioned how the salon came up with $125 amount. Also...two different stylists refused to install the replacement hair due to it being "machine weft with extreme mustaching" and "Amazon hair put into a used HotHeads box". All three pieces were 4 inches shorter than the original hair and each piece was a different color. I documented images of all of this. read more

Gail Rainbow Salvador is our family stylist. She takes care of both of my sons and myself. The 3 of us have very different hair, but that doesn't phase Gail. One son has thin, straight hair. The other has very thick, wavy hair. And I have curly hair. She handles us all with the ease and expertise of years of experience. For straight hair, she cuts my son's hair to give it more body. She expertly cuts my other son's thick hair in a way that eases the weight and still looks great. And my curly hair has never looked better. WARNING!!! I go to my appointment today (and the salon is not close to me). The lady tells me she doesn't feel comfortable doing the balayage on me because she doesn't feel she could give me what I'm looking for. Mind you, I specifically came in for a consult prior to making the appointment. She had said it would take about two times to get the color to what I want but it's doable. And I made an appointment that day, right in front of her. No one called me to cancel and I have now driven all the way here for absolutely nothing. I had a great experience working with Gail. I struggle with pulling out my hair. I came to her with uneven growth and damage -- my hair was a mess. With a lot of hairdressers, explaining that you pull out your hair is embarrassing, and people often don't know how to deal with it. If anybody reading this has trichotillomania or is embarrassed by their hair, I just want them to know that Gail was the kindest and most understanding hairdresser I have ever had when it comes to this issue. I contacted her prior to my visit and explained what I was looking for. When I showed up she was prepped with photos and questions to get a good understanding of exactly the shade I wanted. She was knowledgeable and explained all my options, every step of her process, and what I can do to keep my color looking good. I was ready for a haircut and searching for a new stylist before COVID so I had a LOT of time to read reviews, look at photos of past cuts, and hone in on what I was looking for at a new salon. Ritual's new spot in Sebastopol checked all the boxes! I was able to get in relatively quickly all things considering (other salons are booked out months) and chose Austin as my stylist. I did a big chop (like a foot of hair) and Austin gave me the best bob ever! I really appreciated that she took her time, I never felt like she was rushing even though she made quick work of my cut. She was easy to talk to and gave me tips on styling my new cut along the way. Everyone I interacted with was very pleasant and professional and the salon itself is clean and beautiful.
