The masseuse worked magic on the pressure points. However, both me and my wife noticed that they spent lot of time on back. A lot more than needed. Place was very clean, lots of rooms, the massage therapist introduced herself and was nice although hard to understand with limited English. I was a little confused that there were large towels instead of blankets or sheets but I went with it. The pressure was very intense and I had to keep telling her to go easier. It felt more like a deep tissue massage, or even more like physical therapy then a relaxing experience and I kept tensing up asking her to use less pressure. At one point a guy who was an employee (I assume) opened the door to my room and had a full 5 minute conversation with the lady doing my massage WHILE she was working in me. Very awkward. At the end when I was getting dressed I noticed a weird sign on the wall -"this is a professional spa please don't ask sexual related questions" -what?!!! That was very creepy and I'm kind of glad I didn't see it until the end. Worst part was checking out, the massage therapist said she had to "call the boss" because she didn't know how to use the groupon. The boss is screaming into the phone (I can hear it from across the counter) and she gets on speaker phone and tells me very rudely that she doesn't have a contract with groupon anymore and she's not taking it and it's not her problem. I came to the spa for my birthday, the 5th of October. Parking: Valet Atmosphere: Bright. For the spa's location (inside the Ritz Carlton), I thought it would look much better. The work that was done around the spa wasn't the best. The waiting room was ok; it's very small. The furniture wasn't something I was comfortable on. I loved the fireplace! Check-in service: Santana and Charde greeted me at the front desk and checked me in. They were very accommodating. I love how the staff communicated with each other, and they knew that I was able to extend my gift certificate. And every time I called prior to arriving, they knew who I was. The spa doesn't offer many services either. They have only facials, massages, and the hair salon. They do not offer manicure and pedicures, and you can't get lunch built into a package. You can get a mani/pedi at the W hotel if you like, but who wants to disrupt their spa experience by having to leave and go to another location to get those services. You can get food from the restaurant located on the first floor of the hotel called Aqimero. I ordered prawns and a ceasar salad. It was ok. The salad dressing wasn't very ceasary (made up word) lol! The sauna & steam room on the women's side was broken. However, they did open up the male side and allowed me to use the sauna and steam room over there. The water in the showers wasn't warm enough. I had a small tweak/muscle pull in my back two days before and she was SO attentive and worked SO hard to get me into alignment. But she also took great care of my shoulders and legs and hips and arms. She was fun and nice and just truly amazing at her job. Hours later I'm still buzzing. The locker room however was another story. The lockers don't lock. The steam room was dirty. The shower didn't drain properly. They say it's being renovated ... that can't come soon enough.
