What started out as a good experience, turned sour as the job progressed. We hired them for an old pool remodel. Start date was slated as 6/27- they started 6/25.... so far so good. Communication was great. Our pool had some major problems once they got into the structure ... so, it understandably was going to cost more and time frame would be longer ( not the 2 weeks they stated). There were rain delays...understandable. But, here we are in late September... some items were left unfinished.... as soon as they got their final payment... crickets....Not to mention that when they came to prepare the pavers for the sealant, they blew all of the debris that was on the deck... INTO THE BRAND NEW FILLED POOL! CONCRETE, TILE, LEAVES, PIECES OF PAVER! They just left it there... We were LIVID. We converted to a salt water pool, they did not put the salt in.... never a word on who would provide the salt and finalize the conversion, never a response to our texts, they FINALLY put the lanai screen doors back on ... in September...and were going to put new door closures on... they just left them here for my husband to do... my sparkling pool rail at the steps is now stained and tarnished with who knows what.... did they try and clean it off... heck no! I have tried numerous products to bring it back to it's original shine. These are small details... but it was the frustration along the way that makes me say I will never refer them. We made the final payment, my husband texted the contact person with questions... we have never heard back from them. We owned a business for over 48 years... if I had left a clients home like this, I wouldn't have been in business for that long. I so wanted to leave a great review . While we love our actual pool and our salesmen was good , the subcontractors are ridiculous clowns and project manager not the best at communicating . Our pool was delivered and we made all the payments very quickly. When it came time to do the punch list it's like Ritzcraft vanished . When we reached out , oh we are busy right now , out there as soon as we can ! . So far nothing . My husband had to fix pavers that were busted by electrical contractors and cover up that nasty looking pipe ! You would think $100,000 in few months would get you service and professionalism's ?! Where do I begin......first off the owner David Johnston is both unethical and a disrespectful human being. We spent over a hundred thousand dollars and rather than have them fix all the problems David Johnston said we were too picky as the tile was improperly installed and falling off. The least of our problems. He tried to get us to pay another installment but fortunately my husband stopped the payment and David agreed it was premature and we are responsible for the bad tile installing. Here where it gets interesting....instead of fixing all the problems he gives us 3 options. One of which was pay me 20k and I will walk away. No Good, Rotten Thieves. Avoid Ritzcraft Pools & Pavers at all costs. The owner David, his wife Ericka and Larry are good at two things: (1.) drawing pretty pictures of swimming pools, and (2.) lying . Long story short, they mis-quoted/mis-priced aspects of my pool/spa project by over $10,000 and tried to get me to pay for their error after the fact. Once they realized they had made the error, they dragged their feet with the project and tried so hard to cover their tracks, that they even went as far as forging documents. They held over $14,000 that I gave to them for 9 months and I am still trying to get them to release the the remaining funds. At this point, I have had to seek counsel to recover the monies and additional damages through litigation. Fortunately, I have signed contracts and records. As if the inconveniences and experience wasn't bad enough, they are incredibly rude and unprofessional. To be sure this wan't a one-off experience, look at the most recent Google and Yelp reviews. They are so terrible and dishonest, I wouldn't trust or recommend them to clean someone's pool, let alone construct one. If they come out cheaper than other quotes you may have gotten, know that you get what you pay for and they likely mis-quoted you. read more

My son and daughter in law hired this company. First they did not cover any of the outdoor furniture or even move it out of the lania and cover it. Dust every where. I spent 4 hours moving the outdoor furniture out of their lania and washing it down. I did this because this company just kept it they way it was for several weeks. I had contractors and many are excellent and some shouldn't even have a license to do work. They lie through their teeth to get your business/money. I saw so many errors and this company is negligent. I should bill them for my service of cleaning up their mess and my son should sue them for partial reimbursement for the crappy workmanship they did. Florida Legislators need better laws on protecting victims instead of protecting wrongdoers. Manatee County does crack down on incompetent businesses. Which they had a stronger hand then what the Florida Legislators give them. read more

We hired Ritzcraft for a complete pool remodel which included new equipment, resurfacing and new pavers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What started out as a great experience in the office quickly turned South.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The subcontractors who installed our shell stone were very unprofessional. They left piles of trash on our driveway at the end of each day. They tossed the pavers around chipping them. They laid our spillover crooked and at an angle. After many return visits to fix all of these issues it became clear that it was an "as good as it gets" situation. My husband insisted otherwise to no avail. We paid a premium price for a mediocre outcome and there is no interest from the owner to deliver otherwise as other reviewers have already noted. read more

Ritzcraft Pools and Pavers is the worst company I have had to work with yet in this area. The MOST AWFUL EXPERIECNCE. I didn't review for a long time, but I would hate for any of you to go through what I did. We signed a contract in 2021. They didn't start for years. They couldn't figure out permitting, it was due to Covid, I think I heard a hundred excuses. We were instructed to get a survey then a topography survey, so we did. During demo, they cut our MAIN ELECTRICAL LINE as well as our cable lines. FPL had to come out and luckily the demo guy was not killed. Most of the tiles were severely chipped and broken, making edges very sharp and dangerous. If my children were to hit any of these chips and sharp edges, it would be an immediate trip to the hospital. They demanded payment before they would finish the pool, so unfortunately I had to pay everything before it was even done. A few weeks after finishing, it rained. ALL OF THE WATER from the pavers went directly INTO MY PORCH causing damage to all of my items on the porch as well as the bottom of my house. I have videos. They did not use the topography survey and pitched the entire deck to go into my porch! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dave the owner was out and as nice as he could be, promised the world and fixed NOTHING.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He said the paver guys would be back out. When they came out MONTHS later they fixed half of the pavers so there is water still coming into my porch, damaging my home, almost 3 years later. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The girls in the office do not know much about permitting, business, customer service, or pretty much anything pertaining to the pool business. It's embarrassing for them as a company.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also charged me for a vacuum pump they never installed and refuse to give me a refund. NOW our pool heater went out, $2500 part, and they will not give me my warranty paperwork or any proof of purchase so that I can file a warranty claim. Also, all of the registration paperwork was left outside behind the heater and was soaked with rain because I had no idea they left it there until cleaning yard one day. They NEVER passed inspection. They scheduled inspections without even letting me know and then blamed it on access. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked several times by email and phone to complete the project and schedule the inspection. I ended up having to schedule the inspection.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We FAILED again for drainage issues. I feel so bad, I referred this company to my neighbor and he encountered many of the same problems. They destroyed his new white privacy fence and refused to pay for it. I have been in contact with Sarasota County and will no venture to BBB, but I want to make everyone aware of the nightmare we encountered in hopes you do not have to go through the same thing. Called and spoke with Cherie about a repair job to a section of tile in the waterline in our pool. Was told if it wasn't a full replacement of the tile, not cost effective for them, I should hire a handyman. What is sad, we are in the process of buying a home and are going to need a pool put in. Ritzcraft Pools and Pavers has very bad quality control oversight and does not backup their work. I was hoping to resolve my complain without writing a review, but I've exhausted all methods to resolve the problem. It has been almost 1.5 years since Ritzcraft Pools resurfaced my pool and deck. From the beginning of the job until the end there where many quality control issues due to poor workmanship and lack of oversight. This I believe is due to to the use of subpar subcontractors and not having a Ritzcraft supervision monitoring the job. Problems that occurred which required rework were paving over access caches on the deck, poor paver workmanship requiring several rips and redoing of the pavers. The bottom of the pool after resurfacing and refilling required draining and refilling because during the resurfacing hoses hot the surface and placed large gashes in the surface. The surface also was poorly appled and had many imperfections. The cleanup of thew pool dumped acid own my lawn which required resodding and the cleanup of an area that was like a cement. Some tile had to be taken off and more aesthetically appled. The worst problem is the bottom drain was clogged with the cleanup work and resulted in a blockage. Ritzcraft's efforts and my own have not been able to clear since it occurs after a 90 deg. elbow in the drain and its a substance similar to concrete that was used to resurface the pool. The owner of the company approved the more simple cleanup efforts that did not work, but would not go further with restoring it to its original condition before they began their work. From some of the reviews I've read about other companies online, I am so pleased I hired them, and am happy to support the wonderful service I received from Ritzcraft. Talk about going above and beyond-- That's the service I received. Friendly, kind, extremely helpful and supportive, this company is top notch. I highly recommend Ritzcraft pools! Once I made my decisions on color and tile and had the project set, Ritzcraft attacked the project and got it done so quickly. I'm totally impressed! Ritzcraft may not have been the lowest bid I received, but right from the start, I felt very comfortable with them. They were not pushy and I never felt pressured toward upgrades. As the saying goes I gave them one star because I had too. We're going on a year and they are still happy they installed a broken salt chlorinator. All these people need to do is call IChlor and get me a new cover since the one they installed is broken. They will lie to you to get you to shut up and go away. Soon it will be a year and I have a bunjee cord on a brand new piece of equipment to hold the lid shut....the lid Ichlor put on their device...the lid that these people say I don't need. Liars. If the cover is not needed why is it there? They still won't answer. Makes me sick every time I look at the chlorinator. BEFORE YOU CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPNAY, READ THIS! We met with Erica at their warehouse a few times and ultimately came to a decision on a time frame and a price. The resurfacing product to be used was called "Stonescape" and carried as 10 year warranty. We gave them a 1/2 the amount due as a down payment at signing and the other 1/2 due upon completion of the job. THIS IS IMPORTANT: They made it a point to tell us at our last meeting that once the old surface was removed the crew would need to check the "shell" for weak and hollow spots before they could proceed with the resurfacing. If the crew found weak or hollow spots in the "shell" then we'd have to pay extra money to have it shored up before they started the resurfacing to prevent the new surface from possible cracking. We agreed. After the crew removed the old surface, we were told they found NO WEAK OR HOLLOW SPOTS in the shell so they were going to proceed with the job. We said great. They completed the resurfacing job, we paid the balance and that was it. At least we thought that was it. Just 2 years and a few months later the surface developed 2-3 cracks in the deep end and we started losing an inch or so of water every week. Then the leak got worse, 2-3 inches every few days. We called David who looked at it, and told us it was my shell that was bad and causing the resurfacing to crack. I questioned that and reminded him that the shell was supposedly checked and ok'd by his crew before the resurfacing was done". He still insisted it was not his fault but as a "courtesy" he would send someone out to seal the cracks (at no charge). He did, and the leak stopped for about a week or so but I had my doubts about that being a permanent and reliable fix. Sure enough, three more cracks appeared and now I was losing 2-3 inches of water overnight! Called again and again asking for him to call me on my cell so we could rectify this, but he refuses to call, he just emails me. I might have spoken to him once on the phone during this entire fiasco, but every other correspondence with him was emails, which I found rather annoying and unprofessional. Almost like he avoids having to talk directly to customers who has a problem with his work. Till today he continues to insist this has nothing to do with his job or crew and I have to pay for portions of the surface (with a 10 yr warranty) to be ripped out again and have the shell repaired and resurfaced. Something happened during the original resurfacing job, I don't know what and I don't know why, but something happened to cause all of this. I say this because it's important to note that this pool has never had a leak since we've owned the house, this pool was completely resurfaced by another company 15-16 years ago without any problems or leaks at all, this pool has never had a leak until his crew worked on it, and it was his crew that tested the shell and declared it durable enough to be resurfaced. So bottom line is, $10K and 2 years later I'm stuck with an unusable pool with 3 large cracks that I have to either refill every single night, or, spend $1000's of dollars out of pocket to repair a pool shell that they originally declared acceptable to resurface. He flat out refuses to accept any responsibility at all, not even a portion of it. Hasn't even offer to meet me half or even a quarter of the way on any of it. My recommendation regarding Ritz Pools,,,,,, find another pool company and stay far away, far, far away from Ritz pools! read more

Upon first meeting David, I was impressed. Very nice, answered questions. Great person. I went into the office to pick the pavers, Ericka was great! Very nice as well. Very informative. Enjoyed talking to her. It was when the work started it went down hill. I had my pool deck covered with pavers, and originally did not want the pool resurfaced. I let them talk me into it. The overall quality of the work was great. Unfortunately, they were two weeks behind schedule finishing, and there was a severe lack of communication, despite asking them multiple times to be transparent about everything. I would recommend them if you want quality work. But be prepared to be lied to about deadlines, progress, and timelines. Also, Jesus told me everything was delayed due to poor lot quality of the pavers, but then I was told by the office they ordered the wrong pavers. I think lying is unacceptable, especially when you are paying high dollar for something. Would I use them again, maybe. Would I recommend them, again, only if you don't mind the project being delayed multiple times. Also, they did leave a lot of equipment just laying around, and I had to do some clean up. I highly recommend Ritzcraft Pools & Pavers! They just completed a complete overhaul of my pool area. They removed old pavers and installed natural stone, replaced the pool tile, resurfaced the pool, changed out the pool equipment and converted to salt. They started the project the end of Jan and my pool was filling by mid-Feb. Their crews were on the job early in the morning and stayed late into the evening. Every day they left the job site neat and tidy. I was assigned a foreman, Jesus, whose job was to make sure the project was completed correctly and on time. He was on the job every day, made sure I knew what was happening and answered any questions I had. Ericka and David (owners) checked on the job throughout the process and were always available for questions. We are so happy with the pool and the work that they did. They were clear and fair on their initial pricing and did not change it except for when I specifically asked for something to be added. They were recommended to me by a friend who was very happy with their work and I would recommend them to all of my friends. Thank you Ritzcraft!! read more
