Our dining day Started off rough but everything happens for a reason....driving north we decided to stop off at this little gem. I've eaten here before but it was years ago. We just had BBQ yesterday from Terry Blacks. Today's experience was phenomenal. The folks were super nice. They have Texas Twinkie's...my absolute favorite. Theirs is 5 stars. Smoked perfectly. They weren't over powered with cheese. I ordered ham. It looked dry and I was worried when she was slicing it. It was anything but dry. Smoked perfectly and tasty. I loved it. Great flavor. The brisket was fatty, tender and pull apart deliciousness. My sis loved her pulled pork sandwich. Proudly exclaimed 5 stars! We tried their jalapeño Mac n cheese, green beans, coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans and macaroni salad. The Mac n cheese. Heavenly and the best I've had in Texas. We loved their potato salad. I'm telling you it was perfection. It's a mashed potato salad...and I'd argue like the Mac n cheese the best I've ever had. Coleslaw was creamy and not too sweet and we also really liked their macaroni salad. 2 things. Green beans weren't seasoned. Super bland. And I'm not a fan of how they prepackage their sides and you grab it out of the warmer or cooler. Their sides are some of the best in DFW. Let people see the product. Preparing them ahead gives a generic look and feel. I almost forgot the banana pudding. Soooo good. A must try! I liked that the lady stopped by and how everything was...it was warm and genuine. My fiancé and I went there for lunch and we were amazed how good the foods were. We got regular ribs plate and brisket plate. Each plate comes with 2 sides so we got green beans, baked beans, coleslaw, and bacon jalepeno mac and cheese. The ribs are flavorful but I like the brisket more because it was more tender and has a nice smoky flavor. The sides are amazing! My favorite side is the baked beans. We ended up taking the leftovers home. We decided to come back maybe every once a month as a lunch treat! It is worth the drive and money because you can get a lot on your plate for meats and 2 sides. Next time I come back, I am going to try their sausages and other sides I haven't try. read more

This place was amazing, stopped here randomly during a road trip and it was well worth it. The customer service was great. The guy cutting the bbq let me test it, pulled out fresh brisket for me so he could give me a great cut, you could tell he really cared if the customer enjoyed their meal. Another guy gave me suggestions on what sides to get and what they had in them. The restaurant was clean, nice vibe, had a bar that was in another room which was kind of nice because it was two different vibes to choose from. People had dogs in there, there was a big outside part, felt kind of like a bar mixed with regulars and people like me but was really nice. When you come into the restaurant it's like cafeteria style. You tell them what meats you want and they put it on a tray with a roll . They are known for their smoked turkey so that what we ordered. As you go down the line to pick up 2 sides then pay at the end. I will have to say turkey was so good and tender. Now I see why it everyone's favorite. Funky BBQ place right off Hwy 287. The food was delicious with large portions. We split the 2 meat plate between 2 people and we both left stuffed and even had some leftovers to take home. They cook the French fries made to made. They got busy and forgot our fries. My husband checked on it and they brought them as we were finishing our meal. That was the only thing that kept my rating from being a 5. They have a large outdoor area as well. Best barbecue in this area. Solid brisket, pulled pork, turkey, sausage, sides, etc. The sauce is one of the few I will actually use. Great little spot right off the highway with good service and a cool back porch area on a pond. Really worth stopping here if you are going up 287 to Wichita Falls. read more

So we ran in here on a whim and they were only about 45 minutes from closing. They hooked us up and even let the pup sit on the patio (video attached). Bar tender was very kind and helpful. Wife had the brisket sandwich with Mac salad and I did the ritz platter, which is 3 ribs plus one meat and two sides. So here is why I gave them 4 stars and not 5.... They're honestly more like 3.75 IMHO. The ribs were flavorful but dried out and lean. The Turkey was fantastic, no issues there, but the macaroni and cheese and Mac salad need different noodles. Granted mac and cheese is subjective but I think they used egg noodles or something that was just not up to the task of being creamy Mac and cheese. No other complains though. Green beans were great, brisket was great as well. I'd go back and ask for center ribs ONLY. read more

Just wow! Hands down the best brisket we've had in a very very long time! We had the burnt ends brisket sandwiches and it was deeeelicious! The hefty, tender brisket was served on thick Texas toast and every bite was pure gastronomic awesomeness Half way through my sandwich I had to snap a picture to capture a peek before I finished devouring it. Visiting from Florida and saw this place along the highway. First off, southern hospitality is a real thing, as though I am from Florida the kindness and service here was warm and friendly. On top of the charismatic deposition of the cook, the aesthetic here really felt like I was at a Texas BBQ. As soon as you walk in it smells of fresh oak. I ordered the sausage, and Myski and my girlfriend ordered the turkey, and all three of the meat choices were juicy and tender and packed with flavor. The spicy barbecue sauce they had was just the bow on top. When we arrive, the place was just starting to open up, but it definitely started picking up pretty fast just around noon on a Sunday. I drove an hour to get there, only to arrive at 10:01 PM and be told they had closed at 10:00 PM. When I asked why they were closing two hours early, they said it was because business was slow. New owner and I was a big fan of the old. Menu hasn't changed a bunch yet but some good changes inside like sauce on the table instead of those little cups. Had the brisket and turkey plate with a side of delicious hand cut fries and banana pudding which my Wife quickly stole from me. The brisket was moist and tender. I like the fatty end and it was just right in the meat to fat ratio. Great flavor, especially with the sauce. The smoked turkey was superb. Moist tender and the perfect smoke level, I could eat this every day. The new owner is great and the new Manager is two levels better than the last guy.
