In the heart of Waikiki, is always a great choice of mine to go to "Rivals". Drinks are poured proper and heavy. So many TVs its hard to choose which screen to look at; which is a good problem. As my friend Kaizo Soze, would say it allowed him to look at everybody in the spot and for them to politely look at him. The Chicken Wings are whats up. Taco Tuesdays are great days there. Avoid this bar at all cost. Bartender (Kyle) added $10 to the credit card tip I left. I had the receipt and went back to show them. Waitress (8pm on 5 July - in case the manager reads this) said there is nothing she could do and I would have to report credit card fraud - which I did and got refunded. I will not be going back. The absolute worst service, rude bartenders, and just flat out rudeness. This is a spot where you can go watch any type of sport, play darts(unless it's 1:30 am and they decide to unplug the machines) and pool. Tried to overcharge me. You mean to tell me that i had 9 beers in a 2 hour span? After i confronted the server he put his hand on my shoulder & said he'd slap me. I asked to speak to the owner. No one was able to get me any email. Friends, if you are in the service DO NOT COME HERE. They WILL overcharge you!! The food isn't great either. I only came here for the fight playing tonight & they have several tv's. Great spot to grab a slice from the "Slice of Waikiki" (hole in the wall window outside of the bar/hotel). I am not sure people realize that they are able to get the same slice inside at the bar rather than order it outside and eat on the curb (since that is what multiple people were doing when we walked past). The drinks/beers on tap are truly affordable and they have a wide selection. They have a TON of tv's so you are bound to find the sports game you want to watch at any given time. The only issue I had with this place was that both times I was here in a week span, they only had one waitress and one bartender...the place was always packed and it was difficult for that server to get around to us when we needed her. No stars off for her though since she was great, I just felt horrible that she was working her tail off and she wasn't able to get to everyone when they needed it. This is the spot to go to watch games when you are in Waikiki! They have a cute bar area, along with a little larger seating area below the bar which is nice for larger groups. The tvs are visible from almost everywhere in the bar so there really isn't a bad seat (just depends on what you're watching). I am not sure what teams this bar represents since the day I was there to watch games there were groups 5+ people for multiple teams. Introduced to this gem from some local friends in October of 2020 and just came back with BF for Valentine's Day I know he likes sports so suggested Rivals. Second time back here during our week-long stay. We came in to watch the Seahawks game and got some good bar grub, including a huge pizza that would've been more than enough food on its own. Shannon was our server for a second time and even though she had basically every table in here, continued to give service with a smile and participated in the team banter. Was looking for a bar to play darts with my husband while we were on a staycation in Waikiki. Found Rivals in the Waikiki Malia hotel. The bar is very nicely kept. Although there is no bathroom inside it's right outside the door. Don't forget to grab a key to get in. Loved that they have dart boards. There's also a golf arcade game. I haven't seen that in a while and of course had to play a couple of holes. The lower half is where the games are, but the staff always makes sure to check on you if you decide to go down there to play darts or hang out. Love that they have big screens everywhere in there. Very rude bartender, from the second we entered the place no attention to the guest, no greeting; seemed to be pissed. I asked him how he is doing, get the blank stare back: "GOOD". The only reason this place gets 4 stars instead of 3 is because of the Chicago sports association. Love that the owner is a Bulls, Bears, Cubs, but not a Sox fan. :) Pizza is ok. Fine sports bar with ok prices. The one thing I really want to get across for anyone reading this review is that the place is tiny. If you want a seat to see your game, get here early. We arrived halfway into the game we wanted to check out and there was nowhere to sit. They had 3 tables reserved for 4:45, but it was barely 3 when we showed up. They should have allowed us to sit there until the other party arrived, we were gone before they ever showed up. Last month I went to Hawaii for vacation. I considerately waited on the opposite side, so I would not be blocking their way towards the exit, but they thought the exit was where I was waiting. Idiots! I drove forward to let them by me and quickly reversed into the stall only to watch them reverse back towards the correct way. I could feel and see their shame as they drove by lol. That's how the parking structure is for Rivals located in the Ohana Waikiki Malia Hotel. The entrance ramp from Lewers St. is a single lane, two way ramp that also serves as an exit. The whole parking structure is super tight and can be very confusing to those who aren't as sharp. I can't imagine how many problems arise when cars are coming at each other on the ramp. Frustration to the max! Anyway... Rivals Waikiki is an interesting place, albeit quite small, but it brings an interesting environment with a mix of locals and tourists during NFL Sunday Football. The place is overwhelmed with autographed sports photos that seems to take away important real estate that can be used for flat screen TVs. The set up is odd as the shape of the layout is a long strip with a single row of small tables and a row of counter-style seats plus the bar in the upper part with about 7-8 TVs lined up, and the lower part has regular tables and only three oddly places TVs, so if you're looking to catch most of the games, the top level is the best, but sitting down together with friends will be difficult, and the bottom is the opposite. Looking through the drinks menu, Rivals has a huge variety of beers that are decently priced, and an even larger variety of hard liquor that even serves Johnnie Walker King George for $250 a glass, which is something I've always wanted to try, but my pockets aren't THAT deep. It was nice to drink a variety of beers rather than just Coors Light all the time. We ordered the Rivals Signature Nachos. It was big, but the thing was so simple, so lame, and so awful. How lucky for us, we got the bottom of the bag chips, so most of them were crumbs. We added steak to it, but there was barely any, and the meat was the overcooked and chilled variety. All the toppings weren't mixed together, but placed together in one area, so you will either get soggy chips with a lot of toppings, or a bare chip with a single jalapeno, or a sprinkle of cheese. Regardless, the size was sheer and a nice appetizer to share amongst many friends. It's just not worth it, and the price is pretty high. The Fries were very, very good. It was hot, fresh, and fried perfectly. This was one of the best fries I've had in a while. Though, $8 for a basket of fries is a little hurtin'. The Chicken Wings were so-so. The chicken wasn't prepared well as the chicken was dry and tough, and on the bland side. Also, $16 for 16 wings is not expensive per se, but it should be cheaper with the more wings you order. The service was amazing. Our server was very friendly and super attentive. She made sure the drinks kept on coming (to my friends). Overall, this is a great place to hang out with friends and have a fun time with great service. The extensive drinks list is awesome as well, but the food menu is a bit pricey. For NFL Football, it's an odd setup if you like to watch every game, but fine if you only watch a few. We stopped in this bar/lounge a couple of times during our short time to Honolulu. We were staying in the hotel it's connected to: the Ohana Waikiki Malia. There is lots of great sports memorabilia and several TVs for watching live games, but food was average and service wasn't much better than that on any of our visits. We came in on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. Christopher was our server Tuesday night and even though our small tab of a few tacos and only a couple drinks probably wasn't the most important one of the night, it was no reason to forget about us after our food was brought out. We literally had to chase the server down to get our tab closed, and since it was our first night in town we really wanted to get out of there and explore. But that didn't give us reason to not return. We actually returned later that Tuesday and Evan gave us just decent service just before midnight. I came back for drinks, karaoke, and salt n peppa chicken wings ($0.75 special on Wednesday) the next two nights that we were at the hotel. Service was good inside (Kapena was serving wings with a smile) and there's also a window for pizza from the street if youre not quite ready to go back indoors (enjoy Hawaii!!) It was cool to have this bar hooked up to our hotel. We enjoyed coming in - but did find bars that had better service and food while on our vacation. read more

Our server was super nice and brought our drinks on time which was good cuz we were ready to take them all down. We order some mint shots, beers and mix drinks. Had a time of my life just being here with my friends. I love drinking and being with my friends. Rivals is somewhere I trust with my drinks and they also have good events like karaoke night on Saturday and Wednesday and game nights. I was invited to the Friends & Family event for the new Sports Bar in Waikiki. It is located in the Ohana Waikiki Malia Hotel on Kuhio avenue. It is literally right next to IHOP. As you enter the bar through the glass doors, you are facing the bar. The bar is about 10 seats long. The set up is nice and there are 4 flat screens for you to look at. If you want to sit at a cocktail table, you turn left and there are lounge type seats on the left. To the right, you go down a few steps and there are more tables and TV's. Altogether, I believe there were at least 11 TV's at the bar. The decor is dark, like any sports bar is. The TV's "pop out" of the darkness. The lighting is pretty awesome. It looks like they run off of a track lighting system. THey can change the ambiance of the bar with blues, purples, reds....even strobes for when that team scores a touchdown! They could actually turn the downstairs area into a dance floor, maybe for private parties or something like that. There is also an outside area of the bar. Im not really sure what theyre going to do with that area, but it is also a part of Rivals. It is located next to the hotel pool (pool closes at 6). While the location is lighted nicely at night, not sure what the bar will do with this area because you cant really "make noise". It is fronted by hotel rooms. As far as food, because it was a F&F event, they had food set out for everybody. They will have a menu with food items. It will have Sushi, Pizza, etc. Will be back to update once they have their grand opening! The bar has a wide selection of spirits. I also saw some higher end scotches and Tequila. They do not have any draft beer. All beer comes in bottles. Everything is decently priced also. Its not targeted for "tourists". I dont think they have planned for a happy hour yet. My recommendation: If you have a group of friends and you like that friendly sports "RIVALRY", you should definately check out RIVALS. Came back again. Umm the service wasn't as good this time. Guess it was the personnel. I ordered food--this time the soft tacos at $13. Overpriced for what I got: should have been closer to $7 in terms of value. The menu referred to shredded beef; instead, I got beef cubes. Instantly upon delivery, I was like wtf?! The toppings--cheese, salsa, and sour cream were in little containers where I had to pour on separately. Problem is that the server never gave me utensils. It got messy.... :( I had nachos on a prior visit and like the soft tacos... skimpy on the toppings... In my first review, I mentioned those chilled stones that they used for drinks on the rocks (to not water down the drink...). This time I got real ice. Where are my stones?! The atmosphere is a very upscale sort of sports viewing lounge. There is an adorable little smoking courtyard just outside that you can take your drinks and even watch another tv. We went to this sports bar on a whim on a Monday night. It wasn't super packed, which is expected on a work night. The atmosphere was extremely casual with televisions with sports and the walls lined with sports pictures and other memorabilia. We stayed for a bit and played some tuned on their techy jukebox. After a couple drinks we ordered the green pizza...I apologize I can't remember the exact name...but it was SO good. It came out and you could smell the garlic cooking in with the cheese. What can I say about this place that hasn't been said? It's amazing and so are all the bartenders. It's got that local bar feel but with all the TVs for every game. They have all the packages so there is never an out of market issue. Happy hour appetizers are half off and it's M-F til 7pm. The grilled cheese sandwich w/ ham is a hangover cure for sure. Absolutely love this spot! As soon as we walked in the hostess welcomed us with a smile making us feel right at home. They had such the vibe with the best music making me sing while we enjoy our time with our fiends. Rich serviced us with a great attitude. His customer service was vibrant and much appreciated.
