Was surprised to show up for our weekend camping trip to see no camp host again. It was self check…read morein at the gate and we drove through as we had reserved online. Thankfully nobody was in our camp site as there wasn't a board or anything indicating what camp sites were not previously reserved. Got lucky as the spot we love, #49 was empty. Was impressed the grounds seemed to be mowed down and not too overgrown. The wind drops lots of leaves through the day but the open loop seems well maintained. They still have the feral cat issue, that been years in the making sadly. I will say there were less cats then the past few years, at least that showed themselves during our weekend. Bathrooms were very clean, even with many familes/groups tent camping throughout the grounds. We never had to wait to use them. Well stocked with soap and tp. With no camp host, there was nobody there to keep the noise to a minimum when it got late. It wasn't too bad but I did hear laughing and talking well past midnight. didn't bother us as we were in a RV, but maybe an issue for any families with small kids. There were a few other dogs on site, all dog owners kept their pups on a leash and I only heard one bark. Well done my fellow dog people. Can't blame the camp grounds, but the mosquitos here are AWFUL! We had the wrist bands, candles, bug spray with 45% deet. We went overboard with protection and ended up coming home with 4 bites. Them skeeters were humming early in the morning through the night. Overall we had a great weekend and will continue to come back to Caswell.

And it was beautiful so who really won? I don't recall which trail we did, but the views were nice. There's not much shade along the trail we took so I'd say wear a hat if you can and stay hydrated. Once in a while, we saw a random cow walking along which was cool. This place is popular - we saw a lot of families and bicyclists when we were here.

What a beautiful way to begin the Lunar New Year…read more Yesterday, we hiked 4.2 miles at Del Valle Regional Park, and it felt like the perfect start to my new year goals. The trail was absolutely beautiful, even with a light drizzle along the way. Rain or shine, we still show up and that's something I'm really proud of. I'm so happy to say that my stamina is getting stronger with every hike. Each time we head out, I can feel the progress. The hills feel a little less intimidating, the miles go by a little easier, and my confidence grows a little more. When we reached the top and looked out over Lake Del Valle, the view was breathtaking, calm, peaceful, and completely worth the climb. Moments like that remind me why I keep pushing forward. Growth doesn't happen overnight, but step by step, mile by mile, I'm getting better. And thank you, Hubby, for always motivating me and believing in me. Having someone by my side who encourages me to keep going makes all the difference. Here's to starting the Lunar New Year strong and continuing to chase every goal ahead of us.

The RV spots are well maintained and have good views looking south and west from the more desirable sites. Evening sunsets are particularly nice looking toward the coastal range. My uncle and dad post up here with friends with the main agenda of eating great food and the mandatory beverage of choice. It was a bit muddy from the rain, but still a lovely site to go for a run this past Sunday, along…read morethe West Loop Trail, the flatter route among several trails here. The entrance can be found near Laughlin Road. I enjoyed the scenery at sunset, the clouds lit in a beautiful pinkish hue, and being surrounded by nature, tranquil ponds, and views of the windmills on the hills. As soon as I entered the dirt path, I was greeted by a rabbit who soon hopped away, but not before I snapped a couple pics. There were also gnats and mosquitos in the air, the sounds of crickets chirping, and of course grazing cows. When I made it back, I found that same cottontail had returned to the exact spot I initially found the cute and cuddly creature. It was like deja vu. Other things to note... there were a couple picnic tables near the parking lot (Laughlin Ranch Staging Area), a restroom, and surprisingly good cell phone service on site.
