Found this spot via Yelp en route home from my beach location. Located about a mile off of the highway with some parking. We sat at an open table inside (definitely not great for social distancing). We ordered rather quickly and it took nearly 40 minutes for our food to come out. Several tables came after us and were served well before us. We both ordered the breakfast platter. Personally, my bacon was cold and kind of rubbery. It wasn't anything special. read more

What a delightful find along the banks of the Mispillion River outside Milford! We stopped in for lunch and enjoyed the club and chicken salad sandwiches on the lovely outdoor deck. Our food was freshly prepared, delicious, and the entire staff was so friendly and courteous. Next time we will definitely try breakfast and the dessert case looked terrific as well. The restrooms were clean and well-maintained. The patio and the location made it all a very pleasant afternoon stop. Thank you River Lights Cafe we'll be back. read more

Stopped for lunch today around 12:30 pm very clean cafe but that is the only good thing I can say. Ask for chicken soup it smelled awful and it was made with chicken gizzards and pasta with green stuff floating in it. Sent it back! Had the Cuban sandwich the pork was old and smelled bad as well. Good service but they will not see me again!! I'm told breakfast is good but I will not take a chance again.. Use your Judgement when eating here. You have to sit where they demand... This was a great find when looking for an all-day breakfast place at lunch time while traveling from Philly to NC. Good food, especially the potatoes, friendly service. The outside deck on the river looked lovely. Maybe we'll sit there on another visit. read more

We were looking for a breakfast place on our drive home from our beach vacation. This place fit the bill. Small mom and pop feel to this little diner, breakfast all day, and coffee. Check. Check. Check. The only complaint we had was that they forgot to bring my daughter her pancakes and they never brought me my side of home fries. Other than they, we had a great experience. The food was delicious, the coffee was great, and the view was adorable with a small little lake nearby. read more

Best small restaurant ever! I can not say enough good things about River Lights Cafe. This was our second time here and both times the service was top notch, as good as Royal Caribbean cruise ship service and that's saying a lot! Every employee was so kind and helpful and the owner was very kind as well. The food is delicious and a good price for the amount they give you. Bathrooms are super clean which I always appreciate, thank you! Eating outside is a huge bonus with little kids, it was super peaceful and beautiful sitting right by the water. Epic fail. The food was forever in coming. They lost all the food orders and had to start over. The food was poor, shells in the eggs. Ran out of biscuits and substituted without asking preference or giving options. Waited for check only to be told we had to go inside to pay because again they lost the order slips. This was delish! I am currently driving from VA to NJ and found this gem on the way! Had great reviews and I was craving some eggs and ham. Their home fries are delish! And everyone was super friendly! To top it off, I got 2 slices of toast, 2 over-medium eggs, ham and an order of home fries for only 7 dollars! It was super fast service! If ever on my way again definitely going to stop here again! Oh! A first visit for carry out lunch for our family to take over to the park on a spring day. We ordered online, but when we got there, it wasn't ready. No problem, except that we were told to go wait in the car and they'd bring it out to us. 25 minutes later, my husband went back in to find our order just sitting on the counter, where it had been for who knows how long - long enough the fries were cold and the paninis were chewy. We also ordered three kids meals with fruit and juice boxes, but got to the park to find there were only 2 juices and only 1 fruit cup. Overall, disappointing. read more

Stumbled upon this cute spot with outdoor river side seating. Waitstaff was courteous and attentive. Menu offers something for everyone. The kids had burgers and wraps, pretty standard. I had the chicken gyro, sauce was clearly homemade and tasty. Hubby's fish tacos were excellent! Ask for their homemade salsa, amazing. The only problem was that our food took over an hour to arrive to our table, much too long for casual fare. The manager, however, warned us of the delay, apologized and frequently updated us on the progress of the cook. I would go again, but next time I'll tell them to bring the food out as it is ready as toddlers and school-aged kids cannot wait that long. read more

So I ordered through DoorDash and I'm not sure if people think that if you order through DoorDash that you can just be treated any kind of way. I'm still going to leave a review just the same as if I dined in. So I forgot to add a $2.50 side of grits. I called in because my order had not been picked up as of yet and I asked if I could just replace the grits with the three dollar juice since it was my mistake or exchange it for anything else I got. The manager on duty said no and I'm just like in my head saying are you serious what I'm trying to exchange it for costs $.50 more why would you not do that. I just don't like bad customer service like. They were like I would have to spend more money to place another order for $2.50 and then repay delivery, like that is ridiculous and sad. I will never eat at this place ever again because their food isn't even very good. It was my first time trying. They forgot to add cheese to my salad smh. My home fries were way too saly so I couldn't eat them. The bacon looks like flimsy cheap McDonald's bacon and is over salty. The grits are actually undercooked. I had my door dasher get them and I cash app him the money. The only thing that was decent was the egg and scrapple. The quality of the managers/owners attitude reflects in the quality of the food obviously. The bottled orange juice does not taste fresh and I strongly recommend searching for a alternative. They didn't even give me jelly for my biscuit. Yet they were hard up on a $2.50 side of grits. Lol read more

I stopped to get an egg and sausage on plain rye. $7.00 is outrageous for that in this town. I still ordered. The guy who took my order hands looked like he had just done a car lube job and forgot to wash them. After standing there for better than five minutes I looked at the guy, he told me he had just turned on the grill. Just turned on the grill? Yes, just now. I'll have it out in ten minutes or so. In all my 67+ years of dining out I have never been more disgusted or disappointed with a restaurant than I was after visiting this establishment. My fiance and I were staying at a wonderful little beach front rental in Slaughter Beach. When traveling we often rely on the reviews and recommendations from my fellow YELP family members. When we read about the River Lights Cafe with all of the positive words about their food, the ambience and the service we felt confident we' d once again enjoy a fine meal. OMG WERE WE SO WRONG! From the moment we entered we were greeted by such unhappy and discourteous staff! And then there was the food...NEARLY UNEATABLE!!! My fiance was served a sandwich with 2 overcooked eggs ,store bought chicken strips and cheese with bacon on a stale bagel. I was served a cold runny vegetable omelette with store bought cheese and very few vegetables. Then I asked for hot cup of decaffeinated tea with lemon only to receive a tea bag in a cup of hot water with no lemon or even a spoon. I cannot adequately describe how nauseous and angered we felt after struggling to eat either of our meals. All I can say is simply this... EVEN IF YOU ARE STARVING AVOID THE RIVER LIGHTS CAFE !!!! read more

We had a large party of 12 and their outside seating/patio was perfect for us. The service excellent and the food delicious. The kitchen seemed overwhelmed by all of us so it took awhile to get our food but it was worth it. Everyone was happy with their meal. read more
