Breathtaking mountain views…read more My family rented two vacation houses at the Wilburton for our large extended family of 25 -- I knew very little about the property before we arrived, so we were taken aback by the sprawling turn-of-the-century mansion and spectacular mountain views as we drove up the driveway. We absolutely never expected the art installations across the grounds -- including 18 x 26-foot Egyptian statues! The art and decor were eclectic and unexpected, and I found them very intriguing. It's definitely not your traditional resort, but that's what we liked about it. And the statues made for an amazing night with smores by the fire pit! The Reunion House was spacious -- we particularly enjoyed the living room, as it gave us enough room to comfortably host the other half of our family (about 25 of us) for a casual birthday party. There was plenty of seating with cozy leather sectionals and two large dining tables that seated about 8-10 people each. My daughter loved playing the piano in the living room, and the rooms downstairs with the daybeds were a great place for the kids to hang out and watch TV together. (The galley kitchen is a little small, but we were aware of this ahead of time because it was mentioned on their website.) We were there during a massive heat wave and all the air conditioners worked very well and kept us cool. Our kids loved the volley ball/badminton area steps away from our house. The outdoor pool is beautiful and it was so wonderful to be able to gather there easily with our whole family. The innkeepers were friendly and helpful. And we enjoyed looking around the mansion as well. There was so much do to in nearby Manchester -- great restaurants and shops, the bookstore is fantastic. We also enjoyed the ropes course and alpine slide at Bromley Mountain. We can't wait to return next year -- we'll be staying at one of the other properties even closer to my extended family's rental house and I'm so excited for its private balconies, jacuzzi tubs, and even more beautiful mountain views!

The main house was rented out for the weekend, so we were unable to go inside, but Melissa graciously offered to give us a quick tour when we checked out (contactless, as was the check-in), so we had the opportunity to meet Melissa, as well as the "doggie concierge" Jetson, and sampled some muffins baked on the premises. The castle was so cool and has so many unique and rare antiques. The tour guides were so knowledgeable about the history, building techniques, and all of the antiques and art work in the castle.
