River Run Dental deserves ALL the stars! I had not been to the dentist in 10 years and I was so scared to finally see someone. After some research online, I finally decided on River Run Dental because the facility looked new & very inviting. Their complimentary amenities intrigued me. I also really liked making my appointment request online and filling out all the new patient paperwork on my computer. Today, check in was a breeze. I was offered a complimentary snack or beverage while I was in the waiting room. My visit began with an office tour. I settled into my exam room with a warm fuzzy blanket. I was promptly offered the amenities menu and a neck pillow, just in case I wanted anything else. My dental hygienist, Amy was very knowledgeable and made a real effort to get to know me (specifically, my concerns and areas of interest in my long neglected mouth). Amy gave me very detailed explanations of all procedures so I knew exactly what to expect and also gave an explanation of my X-Rays. I was there for a little over 2 hours as a new patient, but my mouth feels incredible (don't get me wrong it's a bit sensitive after removing 10 years of plaque, but my teeth feel so smooth). Dr. Adler was my dentist and was VERY friendly. She rounded out the appointment with a quick check inside my mouth, making a note of a few areas to monitor for my next visit. Both, Amy and Dr. Alder were very thorough and I felt like I was in GREAT hands. I left the office with a new patient gift, a goody bag of dental necessaties, a checklist/report card of everything that was performed, a complimentary bottle of water, and new attitude about the dentist. As many have said before, it's odd to say but this is a lovely dentist's office. They're taking covid very seriously, so I felt very comfortable going in for my cleaning. Every time I've been, it's very clean and I almost never have to wait. If you're nervous or have sensitive teeth, they'll make sure you're comfortable. All of the staff that saw me today were really kind and talked through everything they did. I really struggle with gum issues and my dental hygienist, Elizabeth, talked through options and advice and really made me feel like I was participating in my dental health decisions. After almost a year of being a patient now, I can confidently say this is the best dental experience I have ever had, and will likely ever have! Dr. Sinclair is absolutely wonderful and has taken her time to explain every step in my treatment plan so I haven't felt overwhelmed or judged for that matter. Okay, so, you now that feeling when you know you've been avoiding going to the dentist and your teeth feel kind of grimy? Maybe they feel that way because they want your attention. I was living in guilt because of a previous dental experience last year where I was embarrassed about my oral hygiene. Also, my previous dentist is a little too far to drive for a simple cleaning. My teeth were upset, something had to be done. I was immediately interested in River Run Dental after hearing from my roommate how great they are and their wonderfully branded website. I reached out for an appointment and had one scheduled within the hour. When I arrived at my appointment I was nothing but nerves. The lobby is a beautiful, comfortable space with a fridge full of La Croix, a coffee maker, snacks, and large art. I was immediately called back and given a tour of the office. They then offered me a candle for being a new customer. The x rays were done next, quick and easy. The staff was kind, and listened to my concerns. The cleaning was a breeze, it didn't take very long at all. Much faster than my other dentist. I came back the next day for a filling with Dr. Sinclair, who is the sweetest. She explained everything she was doing as she did it. It was an excellent experience. I highly recommend this practice and look forward to more appointments. read more

I had my first appointment at River Run this morning, and it was absolutely wonderful. I was first given a tour of the office then set up in the dental chair with massage! My dental hygienist was very kind and knowledgeable. All of her recommendations were on point and not pushy. When the dentist came in, she was also very outgoing and wonderful. The whole experience was extremely pleasant, and I couldn't imagine that a regular checkup, exam, and cleaning THAT nice was covered by insurance. I cannot get their receptionists to stop spamming me with calls regarding future appointments! I've spoken with their receptionists now on two different occasions and politely asked them to stop calling me, that I will call the office on my time when I'd like to make another appointment. However, I keep getting calls! There was one day a few weeks ago when I received THREE calls on one day, despite telling them I was sleeping for night shift and wanted to be taken out of their system! I've never had to block a legitimate business's number before, but today was that day.... Also, their reviews on Yelp, Google, Facebook etc. are forced. They place you in a raffle to win an iPad in exchange for an online review....I hate to stoop this low and reveal their biased ways of securing all these 5-star reviews, but I feel my privacy has been violated at this point, and that potential customers should know what they're getting themselves into. This is my first negative review of a business. I'm not one of those mean-spirited, boring people who have nothing better to do than blast businesses online. I'm just so over the phone harassment at this point. You guys need to start valuing your customers' privacy more. read more

The real deal! My friend laughed when I said I was going to a dental "spa", but their website, smiling dentist profiles, and nice looking digs drew me in. I was super happy to get Becca as my hygienist - she had a great sense of humor and switched from mint to cotton candy flavored tooth cleanser (why do adults have to use mint?). My teeth felt great after and then I helped myself to the cheez-its in the waiting room. They also have coffee and a nice water selection. Found this place only because it is so close to home which makes it so convenient. Was able to grab an appointment about 1-2 weeks out which isn't too bad, and they have fairly late appointments at 4pm which is nice. They ran my insurance beforehand to make sure it's accepted which was nice. From what I understand, the practice was recently renovated and it definitely shows. As a new patient, I got taken on a little tour of the place and it looks very modern and updated. The lobby area is nice with a complementary coffee machine, sparkling water, and a selection of snacks! Their dentist chairs massage your back the whole time and you get a comfort menu with items to help making the chore of going to the dentist a bit more tolerable. My hygienist was great! She took her time and got a lot of stain removal done. Even the x-rays were tolerable and I usually struggle a lot with them but she was very patient. My dentist was good too, but she only came in for about 5 minutes to look at my teeth and that was it so I can't really say much. Overall, I highly recommend this place! read more

I have been going there regularly for my dental work. I usually see Dr.Adler who is awesome. This time, I made an appointment with another dentist because Dr. Adler wasn't available for late afternoon appointment. It was a mistake. She started chatting with the assistant about her weekend visit and the restaurant she went to and the food she had while working my tooth. I won't be making any more appointment with her for sure. Update: Changing to 1* because now I have to go back to redo it because the filling have a small hole where food easily get trapped. Update 2: I have since returned to get it fixed. Tried this dental office based on the reviews I saw here on Yelp and I'm so glad I did. The staff is lovely from the receptionist to the fee coordinator, all very warm and welcoming. The dentist is nice, but most times when I go I spend the most time talking to Crystal, who I believe is a dental hygienist. I will tell you as a person who gets anxious at the dentist office, having someone as funny and personable as Crystal there really helps. I swear she cracks me up and explains what's happening very thoroughly and patiently. I'd like to start by saying I'm a total snob when it comes to the dentist. In Richmond, I've visited/seen a lot of offices that seemed grimy or like it was furnished in the early 90s and left that way, declining into the gross butt dent in a faux leather chair you're sitting in waiting for a cleaning while that dentist lines their pockets and tries their best to drain you of any money. Why would you want a cleaning at those kinds of places??? I wouldn't dare trust a single tool to touch my mouth. I guess I also have trust issues with dentist, so, there's that. After several attempts to correspond with other dentists and my dentist fiasco the year before, I finally got a very chipper and helpful answer from Rusnak Family Dentistry. Thank goodness. I was apprehensive about this whole spa aspect, but I quickly learned to appreciate it. The mere fact that they put any money into their clients' creature comforts is a reassuring sign that they do their best to keep a modern and clean facility and aren't ripping people off and cashing in. They run a tight ship here. I think I met about 5-7 new people during my first visit. It's honestly refreshing to see an office buzzing with activity and obviously clear communication happening. I had constant updates of why I was waiting and what was going to happen next; so my Type A personality was spoiled to pieces by this. On top of that, I have the pleasure of Dr. Adler being very relatable. I've been shamed by enough dentists that I dreaded going in, practicing my promises to floss more and make this and that a habit. Dr. Adler has a lot of similar issues with her mouth and provided me with some helpful and attainable habits to deal. I'm now a daily flosser but still a candy monster. I really appreciate that this place exists. They're very proactive about scheduling and making sure my needs are met as a patient. I feel really confident recommending this dentistry to anyone. I really wanted to like this place, I tried, I really did. I saw two different dentists here hoping that one would improve on the other but unfortunately the quality of work was disappointing. I would give the staff 4-5 stars for being so kind and accommodating, with appointments etc. Their dental hygienists are some of the sweetest and most friendly girls you can come across! The office is nice and clean and modern but at the end of the day, it's a dentist, you're there to get dental work done... A goldfish pond in the waiting room or a television above your chair are pleasant additions to help the experience but they are ultimately irrelevant if the work is poor or painful or expensive. I would take boring, outdated waiting room with well priced great dental work over the alternative any day. I have a severe latex allergy which was made very very clear. It is usually a pretty good gauge of a professional if they listen to their patients and can demonstrate it in practice. Unfortunately, this didn't happen. After a few minutes of them poking around at my teeth I could feel a burning sensation that comes with severe hives... So I said, "you're not wearing latex, right?" They uncomfortably looked at each other and the gloves are changed out with mumbles of "it should have shown up on the screen, I just put it in the system" Lovely... Skin ruined for the next 10 days. I sank somewhere between $500-$1000 on two small fillings that should have been relatively straight forward. I went back and forth to their office way too many times over several months. I proceeded to have constant issues from my bite through to radiating pain. I had to go back in several times to have it adjusted. To their credit, most of the time they comped me for the adjustments. However it was very apparent after the initial filling that the tooth would likely need to be crowned, given my symptoms. They seemed more interested in staggering the process which was at my expense... ALL of the fillings they did fell out within 6 months which was infuriating and inconvenient. I had everything reworked and fixed by a dentist in California who noted that they hadn't ground it down properly to allow it to adhere to the filling even though it was apparent it needed a crown and the work had changed my bite a little which was causing additional pressure. Everyone was lovely at this office so I do wish that my experience had been better but the quality of the work meant that it just wasn't worth it. read more

I quit going to this practice after 15 years & being an original patient when the practice was purchased by the current owner. I had a cavity that needed to be redone which they told me could be put off to the fall. The tooth begin to hurt 2 weeks later so I went back. I was told I needed a new night guard for $500.00. No tools were used to prod the tooth. Two days later the tooth split in two & an emergency extraction was done. 7 months & $3,000 later I now have a bridge done by my new dentist. Bottom Line: All I wanted was for the dentist to fix the problem. All I got was the dentist wanting to refer me to a really expensive oral surgeon. read more

I found this place about 2 years ago and haven't looked back. I tell everyone I know how great Dr. Rusnak is, along with the whole staff. First off, the waiting room has a koi pond along with comfortable chairs. They offer free, cold bottled water along with other drinks. The folks in the front, cashier, and hygienists are always super nice. What's great about coming here is there is hardly any wait. They seem to always stick to their schedule. about a month or two after getting a filling it started to bother me and hurt, I called up and they got me in literally the next day to take care of it! First let's start with the fact that my husband had to suffer for DAYS with no sleep and in so much pain he took an unsafe amount of medications just trying to tolerate the pain. He called to get an appointment and they didn't have anything for a week. I had him call back later and ask them to refer him to somewhere else and MAGICALLY they had an appointment for him that day! Hmm, OK! Next, as he was groggy and in pain they DEMANDED payment that day, so I PAID IT. This was almost 2 months ago. TODAY I get a text from this place thanking my daughter for her recent visit (3 months ago) and click here to view her statement.... WE PAY AT TIME OF SERVICE!!! I open the statement. And it's $549.60 FOR A CLEANING???? I call to figure out how that's possible (keep in mind we have dental insurance) and the girl tells me it's for my husband (WHICH I ALREADY PAID) then proceeds to tell me she can't y'all to me because of hippa (which I understand since I went to medical school) you probably shouldn't have told me the bill for for my husband... meaning all you had to say was we are sorry for the miscommunication it's a mistake meant for someone else! read more

The staff takes the time to give you a tour of the practice, and explain the tools and products that they use- it helps you understand and take ownership of your dental care. (and even be excited about it!) Everyone is so kind, and the positive vibe of the office is contagious. All of their staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable, no matter who your appointment is with you can feel that you are in the best of hands. First, the office is beautiful! It feels like a 5 star hotel where you just happen to get your teeth cleaned. Second, the comfort menu is so unique and an amazing perk - they have blankets, aromatherapy, tea, lip balm, etc. to ensure you have the most relaxing experience possible. Third, the staff are incredible. I have never once had a less than stellar experience here. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and they do their best to make sure you leave there with squeaky clean teeth, but also the education to keep that up at home. Excellent customer service! Great dentists and hygienists that do high quality work! I would like to note they are pushing Invisalign down your throat (no pun intended).... It is very annoying hearing their Invisalign sales pitch at every visit - first from the hygienist, then the DDS comes in the room to tell you more about it, then finally you get escorted to the Financial person, who is ready to schedule your Invisalign consult and set up a payment plan. I have spent years having high anxiety over going to the dentist, and my recent appointment with Lizzy and Dr. Rusnak has completely reshaped how I think of dental care. When a coworker referred me to River Run Dental, I browsed their website and was pleased to find that their mission and services are completely patient-centered. Having a doctor that truly cares about me (my comfort, my health, my overall experience) is sadly too rare nowadays. It took only minutes to request an appointment and check my insurance compatibility. The staff was helpful, accommodating, and reassuring. I was pleased to make an appointment for less than 48-hours later, and especially happy that their hours allowed me to schedule my appointment outside of my work obligations. When I arrived, I was greeted warmly and asked to fill out a simple set of paperwork, which they did not question me about over and over again. Instead, they read through my history, talked to me about my priorities, and helped calm my concerns. The "calm menu" helped me feel at ease, too. Lizzy was my dental hygienist and she was fantastic. She explained each step of what she was doing so that I actually understood and could take ownership over my health. She was pleasantly conversational and very relatable. I was made to feel like her top priority no matter how many questions I had or how much seat-time I took up. Dr. Rusnak was equally positive. He took the time to build a rapport with me, and was very communicative about my dental experiences. He made sure I saw what he was seeing on my charts and that I fully understood my next steps - all without making me feel ashamed for not knowing any of this stuff beforehand. Fallon, the Treatment Coordinator, helped me understand my insurance plan, treatment recommendations, and next steps. I walked away with some goodies, a bright smile, and a new outlook on going to the dentist. River Run Dental has made me question why the entire dentistry industry has not completely reformed to focus on patient education, empowerment, and spa-like comfort.
