Plenty of draft options with local beer and regular beer and seltzers. We ordered the pub pretzels with beer cheese and homemade mustard (the mustard is to die for). Also got some wings in the lemon pepper flavor and honey habanero. The baked Jamaican pizza is so yummy and the homemade chips are amazing! Great bar, nice location. We went to watch the basketball game but we had our dog. There were picnic tables set up outside, bean bag toss, a bar and 4 big screen televisions. They even had water set up for our dog. The girl in the bar outside was supper nice, friendly, quick and brought the alcohol we wanted out to her bar. Traditional Sports Bar-That's a good thing. It's the reason I came. KC game was suckingly not airing on CBS here so I HAD to go elsewhere to watch the game. I wanted a place where I could scream obnoxiously and not seem out of place. I found the perfect place here. Ambiance gives a great sporty feeling. Customers are all nice - no fighting yet. Staff is friendly and efficient. Food "according to people sitting beside me was "really good" and it was their first time here. They ordered the popular Ale House Burger that comes with pimento cheese and bacon plus other goodies. These were some HUGE burgers. I can't comment on the beer as I don't like it. Drafts (local and non) were very good according to other customers. I chose the drink special of a mimosa. Great! I would definitely come back again. We asked AI where to watch the Hurricanes in their quest to win the Stanley Cup and RSAH was the recommendation, along with the link to the official Canes viewing bars in NC. Yet another new to us place to eat in Boone. It was a late lunch and this place sounded good. It was a Monday and there weren't many people. Not surprising for a late lunch. Love the atmosphere here. Reminds me of the bars from home. The bartender greeted us and got us our drinks and menus. They have something for everyone so make sure to take time to find out what appeals to you. Bonus for the wife: $4 margaritas on Monday! SCORE! She ended up getting 2 and they were very good, they didn't short the tequila either. I opted for the cheesesteak and my wife got a bacon cheeseburger. We both got fries. The burger and cheesesteak were excellent. Fresh and hot. The fries were also good. Our server was friendly and checked on us frequently. If you check the reviews, the lo reviews tend to be from people that were throw out of there by the bouncer. Take that for what it's worth. I had sweet tea that tasted like it had been made at least 3-4 days ago. Several of us got the nachos and the bottom 75% of the chips were bare, and the salsa tasted really plain and not very fresh. Ramp up these nachos - my suggestion: swap this stale salsa for fresh chopped pico de gallo. Layer the toppings so more chips are covered. Add cilantro and lime wedge. Our waitress was handling multiple tables across the place and did a good job making sure every table was taken care of....at least from our perspective. The bar selection was limited. I tried the Leadslingers bourbon, which was good. I tried a few samples of beer and ended up having a couple different ones. Wait staff was quick to get what I requested. We randomly stumbled on this place after hiking in the morning and looking for a parking place near downtown Boone on a busy Monday before the 4th of July. It was the middle of the afternoon but the place still had a decent crowd, including what looked like some regulars. We sat at the bar, and I ordered a local beer while my wife had a Guiness. She had a bowl of chili and a salad and I had an Ale House chicken sandwich. The beer-battered chicken sandwich was better than I expected, although the accompanying sauce didn't wow me. They had taco and drink specials that day and several guys at the bar next to us were taking full advantage. I suspect they have other daily specials as well. I'm glad we found this place, and it hit the spot for good beer and grub. Bar service is consistently superb, and I have never had a bad meal here. Leaving a review today because the food was exceptionally good, and it was such an amazing value. Today the Wednesday food special after (4pm) was $5 for a gyro and fries or $7 for two gyros and fries. Oh man the boyfriend and I got the two gyro special and split the fries... WOW! The gyros were absolutely loaded with lamb strips, tzatziki, feta, onion, lettuce, and tomato. We were impressed at how fresh and filling they were, and we each took half home. The River Street Ale House gets better every time we go. Staff are extremely efficient but never skimp on politeness or personality. Food and drink prices are incredibly reasonable, and the food quality is above and beyond some of the other establishments you could get grub at downtown. Gonna keep coming back for sure! read more

I would like to start off and say that my boyfriend did not want me to write this review but after what he told me, I had to. A month or two ago, my boyfriend went out to go get some drinks. He wanted to go because it was 80's night and he loves that era of music. What happened that night was nothing short of evil. After having a few drinks he was picked up by a bouncer with long black hair and overalls and was aggressively escorted out of the bar. The worst part was my boyfriend left his keys in the bar and found out that the bouncer that carried him out of the bar threw them in the dumpster. It has cost over $500 and over a month to replace his car keys, house keys, and all of his other things.
