On Easter Sunday when most other restaurants were closed, this placed was packed and getting lots of take out orders. I ate. the hot turkey sandwich with tomato slice and cheese and a side of hearty vegetable soup. The sandwich was very good: plain white bread, buttered and grilled. Several slices of turkey. Dill pickles on the side. The soup was thick with veggies includes potato cubes. With coffee, all for less than $10. read more

We stopped here on the way to the coast recently. It was hot out and there was no shade, but the server let us have our 2 small dogs on the deck which was great. I had the Ruben sandwich with fries while others in my group sampled the patty melt, cheese steak sandwich, chicken fried steak and kids meals; we also had iced tea to drink. My Ruben was the bomb, nothing but delicious! The patty melt was pretty good too. The chicken fried steak was big but unfortunately overcooked and went to waste; too much time in the frier. The cheese steak was ordered without peppers but came with them anyway. Seems the cook was distracted...Finally, the tea had a strange after taste to it, I think it was the water. Im spoiled with really good water and if its different (minerality, etc) I can taste it. The service was quick and efficient as well as friendly. Walking into the bathroom and you are greeted with a filthy door, sink floor and toilet. It makes you wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen and staff to see a bathroom this bad. A sign said "we take pride in the cleanliness of our facility". LOL. Gross. read more

Just passing through to visit family and stopped here for breakfast. Order an omelette and it came out huge. I'm a big guy and couldn't finish my food. The waitress sue seated us and got us our coffee and was absolutely delightful. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for lots of good food with decent prices. We stopped here for lunch before heading out to the caves. It was fairly busy, but we found a table and the waitress stopped by our table pretty quick. Service was friendly and prompt. The food was mediocre at best. Based on the reviews, maybe we just hit it wrong, but my roast beef sandwich with ortega chilis and cheese was so so. The cheese was pretty low quality and was almost the consistency of a white sauce. The onion rings were very good as were the fries. The macaroni salad was fine, but the potato salad I wouldn't get again. All in all, if I was hungry and these guys were the only ones open, I would be willing to stop and eat. Otherwise, I'd probably pass it up and try out the nearby pizza place. read more

Went there a couple months ago and the food was... bleh. I got the clam chowder and not only was it cold, but bitter and sour. It seemed watery and even though my family was the only ones there, it took way too long for them to give us our food. It took around forty minutes just for water. Would not go again. read more

We were excited to find a small Ma and Pa diner open in a one horse town out in the middle of nowhere that makes everything from scratch. until......While our food was being prepared by the owner... One of the other cooks blew her nose in a tissue then came out to the ice machine, dipped her cup in it to fill up with ice. I thought I was going to gag. on our way to medford from brookings we stopped for breakfast at river valley. hubby ordered a 2-egg denver omelette and i ordered a 2-egg bacon/cheese omelette with fruit, no potatoes or toast. the omelette looked great and tasted great. my bacon/cheese omelette was delicious and they had fresh fruit! omg. what a treat to have ripe, tasty fresh fruit. the service was quick and friendliness was warm. along with great food...what more is there?? read more

Meh...is what I think of this place. Ordered a veggie scramble (sans eggs), broccoli and cheddar soup and chicken fried steak. The young waitress didn't want to take the order for the table until the other person came back from the bathroom even though they had told me what the wanted to order and asked me to order for them. Awkwardness. The waitress returned to the table right before she brought our food to say, I hope we ordered what you wanted, and then walked away. Very awkward, my friend was offended. The Good: the soup, gravy and biscuit were all very tasty! Kudos on that aspect. The bathroom was clean and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. The Undesirable: peculiar young waitress attitude, chicken fried steak was hard and almost burnt, the veggies for the scramble were clearly cooked in a microwave as they had no griddle marks whatsoever...I assumed they would be cooked the same way if there had been eggs in them but I guess not. If I had to eat in this town again, I'd most likely try a different restaurant. But, if faced with not eating I'd probably eat here and order just soup and biscuits. :/ read more
